My dog is starting to show signs of a kidney issue, having too much of something. luckily there is a new test that find it early. they used to not be able to tell anything until it was too late to do anything. The new test finds it earlier. They actually took her blood pressure because it can affect the kidneys. The doctor wanted to talk to me about her diet and other things. One of the things I really like is when this issue came up they called an internal medicine vet to talk to hi about the course of the treatment. If they needed me to see a specialist they would send me there but they can treat me there. I also had to buy prescription food for her. Most doctors offices, human or animal, you have to wait a bit. They are very attentive to your dog. They have a lot of love and care for the animals. they have excellent service and they treat the dogs very well there. They actually had some kind of a blanket that has an odor on it that calms the dogs down. So they try to make the dogs as comfortable as they can.

We've been in the market for a new vet for quite sometime and gave them a shot. They are fantastic!! We have a 'special needs' kitty who has food allergies that can result in onset asthma and IBS along with a few other issues (who'd a thought, right?). Dr. Gretchen was the only vet we've seen that made the connection with food allergy and asthma. Saphie's been on hypo-allergenic food and right now a regimen of meds to calm things down and is responding superbly! Dr. Gretchen is very informative, attentive and watches your wallet as well. She doesn't order unnecessary tests; visits etc. like some do. She does advise of all the options so you can make an informed decision should you choose to have those tests done; however, she doesn't 'scare' you into it like some may. There is another local vet that will remain unnamed who we became extremely disappointed with; when we first began going there they were fine; however over the years they have rapidly deteriorated; so when we found Ashland we were cautiously optimistic. We had a good feeling about them though b/c they were the only vet in the area that sold us our prescription food without insisting on seeing and re-diagnosing our cat which would've caused her extra distress. So after buying food from them for a few months; and seeing how happy their clientele was I decided to give them a shot and I'm ecstatic that I did. The entire staff is extremely informative, friendly and supportive; it's like a family!! Also they have Saturday hours with a regular vet (Dr.Gretchen) which suits our needs since we both have a hefty work commute and cannot always make their weekday hours. For this particular visit, we had a follow up check and since she was doing so well; no additional tests were deemed necessary.Oh and the follow up after the visit is phenomenal!! Each time I've taken Saphie in for a visit on Saturday, if need be I get a call later with her test results (even after hours) and I receive a call the following Monday or Tuesday to ask how she's doing and to make sure what treatment being given is working. They are also beginning to teach/lecture a Summer workshop. They think it'll be once a month for about an hour midweek. While I have not had a chance to attend one; I look forward to doing so in the near future. I can't say how much I recommend this Vet. If you're evening questioning your current doctor or are in the market for a new one I recommend giving these guys and gals a try! A++++++++

I have been privileged to have Dr. Judy Mason as my vet since 1991. She is a great vet, kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and thorough. Whenever I have taken a dog to a specialist clinic, they have all remarked on the overall quality and comprehensive nature of her reports to them. She is never in a rush, always takes time to answer all questions, has a great touch with the animals and follows up on continuing care.

We were not pleased with the vet we had visited the previous year. I felt they catered too much to breeders and not enough to common pet owners. AVH was easy to get an appointment, took the time to do a gentle exam and explain to me my options for blood tests and vaccinations as well as flea, tick and worm options. Upon deciding what regimental course of treatment we were going to get Penny on, the vet administered one round of vaccine and advised that I schedule a second appointment (with no additional office visit fee) to administer the rest to avoid complications from drug interaction. They took a thorough history and gave me options for purchasing a license in my correct county and emergency vet care should I ever need it outside of their hours. They called within two days after the first visit to provide the blood test results (Dr. Kim Cochran actually called me herself, not a vet tech!) and after the second visit, I received a second call (on a Saturday!) to check and see if Penny had any adverse reactions to the vaccines. We will definitely stick with AVH for our future vet needs!!

Their entire staff is passionate and focused on veterinarian care and customer service. The prices here are very reasonable and we have been doing business with them for about 10 years and have always been satisfied.
