2. Took our old drapes to see if they cold be repaired IN NOVEMBER 2015 and they still have them in FEBRUARY 2016 !!
My wife and I were planing to buy more for our whole home and for my mothers home in Ft. Washington MD.
I'm sick of calling these people I would never buy anything from them again.
When the shade and cornice were installed the shade did not block out all of the light as we had wanted it to. We were very disappointed the shade did not block all of the light as we were clear that is what we wanted. I spoke with Frank about this issue and he did something quite incredible. He offered to give us curtains to go over the shade free of charge. This meant they would have to build a larger cornice which he also offered free of charge. The value of what Frank was offering was over $2000.
Angelee came out to take some new measurements and talk through the design options. The curtains and new cornice were installed and they look amazing. I was completely impressed by the company's focus on customer satisfaction. I would highly recommend them to anyone else.

Met this company at the Dulles Home Show and set up an appointment. On March 13, 2014, Christa came to my home with her samples and assisted me in selecting the proper products. She answered my many questions and took precise measurements of the various windows. She advised the order would take approximately 30 days to installation. In approximately 40 days after the order was placed I called Value Blinds and asked for the status of my order. Was advised by the office the shutter for the side window was being shipped from California and had not arrived. I would be contacted by the installer as soon as it arrived. Another month passed with no communication from Value Blind despite having my email and phone contact information. I called in mid May and advised, installed would be contacting me soon.
The blinds arrived and were installed June 13, 2014, ninety days after the order was placed. I am pleased with the product but disappointed by the lack of communication. The company had my email, cell phone number, and home phone number yet did not advise on the status of the order. To be initially told it would take 30 days, then it was 90 days until installation. I will not use them again.
Frank claims his prices are lower than Next Day Blinds (NDB). I never really got another estimate; I just took his word for it. We outfitted our home with Hunter Douglas, Norman and Kathy Ireland products and we are happy with them. Frank is meticulous when it comes to measuring. He will measure and re-measure the windows. You'll be amazed at how well the window coverings fit! Also, Frank will not sell you what you don't need. For example, he could have sold us Hunter Douglas blinds but he suggested Norman blinds in some windows. Hunter Douglas blinds were much pricier than the Norman blinds but he claims the Norman blinds have a better mechanism to open/close/raise the blinds. I appreciated that! He'll educate you on the different types of blinds/shades/shutters when you visit his showroom so that you can make an informed decision. If you can't decide, Frank (with his years of experience in the field) will give his 2 cents.
When it comes to communication, there's room for improvement. It appears that VBHD does not respond to email questions/inquiries as well as they do telephone calls. I've sent a couple of emails that went unanswered (in fairness, they did respond to previously sent emails). This is not to say that their communication is terrible...it's just that it could be improved.
One minor gripe is that after placing my order, I got a flyer in the mail from VBHD announcing a discount (10%) on orders placed within a certain time. My order was just a day or two (I believe) prior to the beginning of that time range of the sale. Knowing that my order was placed outside of the time range, I called VBHD to see if they would consider giving me the discount...after all, I was a repeat customer and considering I spent a good chunk of change ($13K), I thought "why not?". I called one day and was told Frank was out of town and would pass on the message about the discount when he returned. A few weeks later, I called again and got a hold of Frank. Frank said he'd look closer at my original receipt/order form to see if I'd qualify for the additional 10%. He added that he may have already given my the discount at the time he took my order since he knew in advance of the sale. He also added that he would have made a note on the order form. Well, I checked my work order and there was no "note" indicating an additional 10% off was given. It's already been 4-5 days after the days he said he'd get back to me so I'm still waiting. I have already paid the balance in full.
Despite my minor gripe, I am happy with the overall experience with VBHD. I know they've been very busy lately (good for them but may mean an even more of a decline in quality of communication). I would consider using them again though I am open to using another company for my next project which is getting curtains/drapery (by the way, VBHD also provides quality drapery) for the living room and dining room.
great ideas, offered me a wide range of cost options and is so pleasant
to work with. I also spoke to the owner and he was also very pleasant
and helpful.
Value Blinds was the second company I called for
my bay window. The first company barely showed me 2 options for the
window and didn't make an effort to find out what I wanted . The price was good, I called and got three additional quotes
for the same treatment they offered, but decided I didn't want to work
with a company that wasn't going to spend any time with me to discuss my
options - and I was spending close to $2,000 !
Angelee from
Value Blinds asked me several questions before we met and came prepared
with many options, some much less expensive than my original
selection. She listened well, and offered me an option that is exactly
what I wanted, but didn't know existed - a combination roman shade and
blind. It's perfect !
Angelee always responded quickly to my
e-mails and phone calls and made the whole experience, which I was
dreading, very enjoyable. I wasn't planning on buying window treatments
for my kitchen, but she gave me several great low-cost options, so I'm
going to buy treatments for the kitchen also.
The installers are subcontractors to Value Blind, and a true reflection of the Value Blind emphasis on quality and efficiency. The wood blinds and honeycomb shades installer showed up almost exactly 4 weeks after the order was placed, and took only two hours to install the window treatments. At the end of the job he informed me that he didn't like the way the valences were produced by Norman, and that he would have them re-ordered and re-installed for free - which he did. The shutter installers (2-man crew) showed up almost exactly 10 weeks after the order, and took 3.5 hours to install all of the window and door treatments. All of the installers were efficient, courteous and professional, and the products are high quality, function perfectly, and come with effectively a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer and Value Blind.
