First of all, I called them when another provider (from whom I had purchased a "deal") was impossible to reach. Phone line of this other "service" always went to voice mail, then voice mail said it was full and couldn't take messages. Emails were ignored as well. So in desperation because I was having a party the next day, after reading some other reviews (not on Angie's List), I called Green Mop. They were extremely responsive on the phone and were able to schedule a crew to come out the very next day. I received email confirmations of the time we booked and additional information helpful to a first-time customer. Their cleaning crew was very professional, focused, and worked hard for the two hours they were there. They did a good job and I would definitely work with this company again.

They did an adequate job and have weekend times which was convenient. We stopped their service because of the lack of professionalism. My parents were living in their house for less than 6 months when we started using Green Mop. It's a big house so they usually sent 3 people. One time my mom noticed that one of the ladies doing the cleaning was on the phone for a third of the time she was there, and she left the vacuum on in the other room while she was on the phone. Mom did not say anything thinking it was a one time thing. It happened again next time and when they left, my mom noticed her less than 6 months old rug in the living room was damaged - threads were pulled out. It was an expensive rug, so she wrote to the owner to report it. She also wrote to the rug company, who promptly responded that they are willing to replace the rug. So by writing to Green Mop, my mom was not expecting them to have to pay for the damages, but rather for management to be aware of the situation, and just expecting an "we are sorry this happened" response. However the owner was extremely defensive and basically went on the attack. He accused my mom of lying and indicating that the rug was already damaged. When mom sent pictures of the damages, he indicated it looked like no big deal. I finally told him that we are going to write a review about his service, and he basically taunted us to do it. It was unbelievable how unprofessional and unapologetic he was. We will not be using them again.

When I made the appointment, they did not mention any time limitations for my size house even though I had filled out an on-line form with the details of my house ie number of floors, bathrooms, etc.  The cleaning people (2 ) arrived with in the window they said. They were both very nice and listened to what I need done ie clean floors, bathrooms, dust.  All was going well till they started packing up to leave and they hadn't even touched one of the floors.  They said they had a time limit and if they didn't keep on schedule they wouldn't get paid.  I called the main number and asked what the problem was and they said they had an average amount of time for what it takes to clean a house of my size, 1500 sq ft and if I wanted them to finish it would be $65/hr.  My house is not super dirty house with kids and dogs (we have neither), so that average is really for a wipe down, and barely cleaning.  Overall the experience was stressful and cleaning mediocre because it was soo rushed.   They have have terrible customer service they have very poor labor practices.   I will not use them again!  For green cleaning services, Maid Brigade, is much better all around!

"The client isn't telling you but I think he was using a coupon and that may be where the confusion/misunderstanding lies as we don't have time limits unless its one of those coupon deals. If the client bought the right sized coupon for his size home then there isn't any issue and there isn't any time limit. If he would contact us we would send a team out to re-clean anything missed for free. And that offer is still on the table regardless of this review. The workers always get paid regardless of issues so I don't know what nonsense they were telling him and we will get to the bottom of that - this was a late in the day cleaning and they may have just wanted to go home early and that is not acceptable if they made up a story like that. We will investigate."

They do a great job. They are very thorough and very professional. They use natural cleaning products with no chemicals, which is why I selected them initially. I've been using them at least a year. They are great. I don't have a point of reference on price but it seems fair based on the size of my house. I will absolutely continue to use them.

The cleaners from The Green Mop Company broke some things at our home while working. Most of the things that they broke were brought overseas. They did pay for the things they broke but I still had to go out and look for it to be bought again. It was just awful. They would never inform us when they broke things. We would just come home and find it lying in our trash. When we call them about it, they give us an attitude saying that things like that happens. The same thing was repeated in our neighbor's house with The Green Mop Company. They have also repeatedly set off our alarms which has caused the cops to come out several times. My partner ended up missing out on a very important meeting once because he had to come home to see what was going on. We then decided to switch to another cleaning company. I couldn’t say enough bad things about them. They started off being really good and then their service just nose dived. I would never use their services again or recommend them to anyone.

"What can you say about people like this. We cleaned there for years and they were very happy - but now note all F's - what ****. We jumped through hoops for these **** abnd even the owners wife cleaned their crap up as we know they were anal. This client had a faulty and crappy glass shelves that the plate stands were weak and flimsy and we warned them it was faulty. They chose to do nothing and it collapsed. But there are **** every where. We paid for any damage and they write something up like this a year later. What ****. I'm convinced more and more I will set up a web site to ban people like this so they can't get service any where as they don't deserve it."

The first time I used this company they did a great job.   I hired them again a few weeks later.  They did an absolutely terrible job- floors and counters will still dirty, pots were put back into my cupboard that still had food on them, trash was not taken out, and on and on.  Their customer service team is great- they promptly sent a new team out to my house to re-clean.  Unfortunately, they did not do any better than the first team.  I had a sent a detailed list of what needed to be redone and it was ignored.  The second team asked me if it was clean enough and I had them redo a few things, but when the things they redid were still not clean I gave up.  I am sure the customer service team would have sent another team out to re-clean but I no longer had the time or patience.  Although I love the idea of green cleaning and the customer service team is easy to work with, I would never hire this company again.

"What can you say about people like this - the team is right there and she doesn't say anything to them about the job and then comes on here and writes nasty comments - this is more indicative of the client and her personality than it is on the job we do. The initial cleanings were very thorough, but the attention to detail seemed to decline over time. The downstairs hardwood floors were not always mopped; upon a complaint about this, they did offer to send a crew back out to clean areas that had been missed, but that isn't always convenient and we'd rather have things done right the first time. The final straw, however, was that my back door was left completely unlocked on three separate occasions during this time. The door was left unlocked on two back-to-back cleanings in December 2010 and again on February 2, 2011. On a fourth occasion in January, 2011, we arrived home just before the crew had finished and the door was not locked, nor did they check before leaving. We were assured by the company in December that all crews had been advised to double-check all exterior doors before leaving, but continued to have the same problem. Because I cannot allow my house to be left unsecured like this and the company could not provide an explanation or guarantee that this wouldn't continue to happen, we were forced to cancel the cleaning service.

"This client is misrepresenting the fact that the door has multiple locks on it and my team left the door as it was left by her. The bottom lock was the only lock used and that was how it was left - just as the client had left it. The team had no way of knowing she wanted the other locks on the door locked."

This review is over 3 years late. We hired Green Mop after our previous cleaning company went out of business. We used Green Mop to clean the town house we were renting and then used them when we moved into our new home in Nov 2009. Besides general house cleaning services, we used them to do a move out clean and a move in clean. At the time we hired them, green cleaning was a must due to the impending birth of our daughter. We are not the most organized folks on the planet (really, who can be with a 2 1/2 year old?) and my home office is always a disaster, but the Green Mop does a fantastic job and we are very pleased with them. Sure, they can't clean the shower as clean as I can, but then again I'm very particular about a clean shower and no one probably could clean it as well I can......however, on everything else, they are top notch. We don't even ask them to fold clean laundry, but it's folded if they see a pile.....We even were home this past week on vacation and felt a bit embarrassed to be hanging around them as they cleaned (we like to be out of their way), but they were the consummate professionals and very nice about working around us. I have read the other reviews on the site about Green Mop and can understand some of the minor complaints, but really chalk most of it up to the fact that you are dealing with human beings and humans make mistakes (e.g., yes I have found the stray dust cloth left behind, but so what....). I can tell you that the previous company that we used would always break something and then disown that it broke. The extremely rare instance the Green Mop has made a mistake, they owned up to it and immediately rectified the problem.....you can't buy integrity like that from a cleaning company! If I was to suggest a few things to make them even better, I'd suggest the following: -Revamp the website to make it easier to find information and such (e.g. I didn't know about the yard work being an option and would love to know more about what that includes). It's all a bit to cluttered (ironic...) -Maybe send out an monthly email newsletter to customers who want one to get more information out (e.g. again the yard work) about various services and perhaps recipes for green cleaning and other items of interest. -I also have had different crew members come and clean my house, but always at least one has been here before. We are very particular about who comes and would prefer the same crew time and time again (as we want to establish a relationship so they know what we like and don't like). We understand that is not always possible, so perhaps leaving behind a slip of paper or a card that states who was there, so that if we do have a compliment or issue to pass on, we can state names to the front office (e.g. your house was cleaned today by.....) -We want to insure that our holiday bonus went the the appropriate people, so I think a confirmation of that would also help for all customer's. All in all, we are extremely pleased and have referred the Green Mop to all our friends and look forward to using them far into the future!

We have used this company several times and been very satisfied with their efficiency and the quality of the cleaning. For the last cleaning they showed up in the morning when then said they were coming in the afternoon. This was a minor inconvenience and we were pleased with the quality of the cleaning. An added advantage is that they use all natural, nontoxic cleaning materials.

First problem started with their online reservation system. I reserved a Saturday 8am appointment for a 2 person crew to work for 2 hours for $100 and received a confirmation email. Later in the day, I received another email from them telling me that they save Saturday mornings for their "regular" customers and that even though it showed availability, I couldn't have that time. So I reserved for Monday morning 8am, again for a 2 person crew to work for 2 hours for $100. Monday 8:30 am, they still had not arrived, so I called the office. The office told me that they had left 30 minutes ago so should be arriving shortly. When I pointed out that "30 minutes ago" was 8am when they should have been at my condo, he said "oh, yeah". They finally arrived at 8:45am and I left. At 9:15am, I received a call from the office asking if I wanted the oven and refrigerator cleaned. I said yes, the condo is empty and I'm getting it ready for renters. The guy from the office said it's their policy to charge $30 extra to clean an oven and $20 extra to clean a refrigerator. I responded that there's nothing on their website about it, and that I had booked a crew to clean for 2 hours so as long as the work was done within that 2 hour time frame, what did it matter which appliances they were cleaning? (Do they charge extra for toilets, too?!)

"The client was dead right on this one. Dropped the ball big time! We have so many clients wanting the first Saturday slot we have taken that capability to request off of the site so that won't happen again. We have recently added changes to the cleaning charge for large "filled" refrigerators and ovens (in his situation he should not have been charged for an empty fridge and will be refunded that) and I will note all this on the web site - our people should have told him in advance too - not at the time of the cleaning - will pass that along to the office team - but, in this case, he should not have been charged and we will refund that if he has already paid. Best thing to do is contact the office when you have an issue and we can fix these type of mistakes easily. There is always a window of arrival as we can't promise exact times (no company does or lying if they do) as we note in our emails and on our web site - traffic in DC is unpredictable and we all know it - we offer a 8-8:30 window so we usually hit that 95% of the time - this time we didn't by 15 minutes."

When we first started with them they provided a detailed estimate and description of the work to be performed. The first cleaning was good and thorough. But about a month after that the cleanings became more sloppy. For an entire year that we used them, the cleaning went downhill each time. Instead of having the same 2 cleaners, we had random people show up. They would forget to clean things like the tub and would not clean our floors properly. When we complained, they wouldn't deduct the cost of that off of our bill. After almost a year with them and no improvement, we terminated their services.

"We let this customer go so that's why they wrote this report - they did not terminate us - we terminated them. We are so successful now and have a large great group of customers that we don't need to have customers like this any more. This client also owes us money and we intend on turning them over to a collection agency as well as go to small claims court if we have to - to collect what is due us. This client verbally abused my wife and we decided that we had enough of this nonsense and terminated cleaning their place."

I have tried to find a company in Seattle who is as good as Green Mops, but so far no one comes close! I really felt like I got my money's worth out of this company. Not the cheapest service provider out there, but definitely the best value I've found. If you're paying for two hours, you're getting two hours of WORK. The crews (I've experienced a few) have all been excellent ,hard working and any issues have been resolved promptly. The house sparkled when we got home, and the management office is responsive and easy to communicate with. My regular house cleanings ended up coming down in price from my original estimate, so that was a nice bonus! When they've done move-out cleans, they've made the place look brand new- like magic! They do the job better and faster than I could do it, and the price is totally worth it!
