We would highly recommend Ramble Gardens. Working on our project with David and Jules was a pleasure. We went through many revisions of our project and they were always patient and responsive when we had questions, including sending several revisions of our landscaping plan and lots of pictures of plant and shrub specimens. We couldn't be more pleased with the way our front yard looks now and we plan to continue working with Ramble Gardens to make more improvements to the landscaping around our home.

Great. It was a pleasure to work with knowledgeable professionals like David and Jules. After they worked two afternoons my garden was shipshape and beautiful!

Ramble Gardens designed a solution that has not only been surprisingly effective, given the limited space, and is also very attractive. They're an energetic husband and wife team who seem to take great pride in their work and in developing customer-specific solutions. They began by meeting with us to make sure they understood what we wanted. They took a gazillion photos of the site and the surroundings - like where downspouts emptied - and measured things like the percolation rate of the back-yard soil and the depth of nearby retaining walls. Then they reviewed their ideas with us, using plants that are both thirsty and native to the area and able to weather the summer heat and droughts. They also reviewed with us their idea for a river-rock catch-basin surrounded by a pathway of flat stones. These touches were relatively inexpensive, but made all the difference in the world in the way it transformed that part of the yard. It was the difference between just a functional depression with plants and an actual landscape feature. They also explained their choice of plants, including a mix that would have different colored blooms at different times of the year. They wound up completely re-working the original rain garden, digging it up to a considerable depth and re-sloping the area, creating a depression for the catch-basin, surrounded by porous soil. Then they hand-laid the river-rocks in the basin, hand-planted the plants, and individually set the flat stones for the walking path around the basin. After the work was completed, they followed up periodically for several weeks to make sure that the plants were well established. Since the work was completed, we've only had a couple of serious downpours that make the sump pump begin near-constant cycling. Previously, any of these rains would have turned the back yard into a marsh. However, even during the worst rain with the new landscaping, we only saw a few inches of water in the river-rock basin, and it was completely absorbed in a couple of hours after the rain stopped. We can finally use the back yard after a rain without wearing rain boots, and the yard looks more attractive, year-round, with the addition of the stonework.

Ramble Gardens not only relocated the bush promptly but made intelligent suggestions that led us to expand the project, then expand it again to re-doing another bed, fixing borders and bringing recommended plantings and landscape materials for us to see in place, and proposed new stock to deal with long-standing shade and foot-traffic problems around our home's entrance. When another contractor fell through on constructing the gravel base for a new garden shed, DG got it done.

I have used many landscape companies through the years but I will never have to look for another one! The creativity, follow-through, knowledge and professionalism was, frankly, a surprise considering some of my prior experiences. Ramble Gardens has the best quality for the best value - I have never had to dispute an invoice.
