He showed up nearly 20 minutes late. He did a decent job assembling the furniture, but did not offer to put the items in place for me and left boxes, packaging and screws everywhere. Used my brand new sofa as a resting bench for his heavy tools. Rifled through one of my kitchen drawers to use an expensive knife to open a box, despite my explicit instruction that he let me know if he needed to borrow any tools. I would have lent him my box cutter. He didn't really apologize, rather just offered some nonsense about how he doesn't carry box cutters because they cut through his backpack. Ok, but that doesn't justify you going through my things. A high expression of disrespect. Don't understand the rave reviews about this guy; his customer service skills are certainly lacking. Could not wait for him to leave and will never hire him again.

"Now this is a good opportunity to once and for all clarify my scheduling terms. I never ever wrote to [Member Name Removed] that I would be there at exact time! Here is what I wrote: "...would take quite a while so it is probably good if possible to start morning time around 10 am on the 16th." It is funny how people read what they want to read! Now, many companies give a huge time frame of 4 hour or even more but I try to be within half an hour of my approximate time, depending on traffic and my previous job etc. I work alone and it is very hard to be everywhere the whole day right at a given minute on schedule. If [Member Name Removed] wanted to find a large company that sends out different teams to various jobs she has the right to book those companies. I gave [Member Name Removed] a flat rate quote which I honored even though the drawers that needed fixing were not just a couple, but about 5-6 and I had to completely uninstall most of them since they were poorly assembled and the design was poor to begin with. That already pushed my schedule back with about 45 minutes beyond the estimate but I still honored the flat rate. However, I was already running late for my next appointment due to the inaccurate description that [Member Name Removed] gave me! On top of that, most of the screws for the patio set were missing and I had to search my tool bag for matching hardware! The lighting in her place was not grate and kneeling and searching on the floor was not going to produce any good results, so I had to lift my bag at a higher level so as to be able to see and find anything in it! That pushed my schedule back another 2 twenty minutes or so too. The estimate did not include moving furniture around or taking out boxes, which I normally offer to do anyway, when I am not already an hour behind schedule. Notice how the job was completed about half a year ago in July and I just now receive the review! Happy Thanksgiving! Happy thank"

I tried disassemble my big wood bed frame, but only got so far. I couldn't get the bolts connecting the headboard and foot board loose as I didn't have the proper tools or hand strength to finish the job and I needed the bed frame taken apart sooner rather than later.
On a recommendation from a friend, I called Philip's Design on a Thursday afternoon to tell him what I needed. I had to leave a voice mail message, but Philip returned my call via text message early that evening. We set a time for the next day (Friday morning) and he arrived on time. Philip did the job quickly and he was friendly yet professional the entire time. He saved me hours of aggravation by taking apart the bed frame in less than 30 minutes.

hung 7 curtain rods, patched a hole (I created attempting to hung the curtain rods prior), installed two celing fans and hung a 50 in TV on the wall.

The service went perfectly, as usual! This is my second time using Philip. On the first occasion, a few years ago, he assembled a kitchen table and bench set for me. That time, he came on very short notice -- in the snow! This time, we set up a convenient time one weekday afternoon, on my day off. When we discovered that one of my blind measurements was a bit too wide to be installed inside the window, as originally planned, Philip quickly figured out a way to install the blinds as an outside mount. Whew! The remaining blind mounts went smoothly.
Bottom line: each time I've called on Philip, he has been quick in his response, fair in his price quote, prompt in his arrival, and skilled in his work. He's also just a very nice guy. What more could you ask for? I'll definitely be calling on him again in the future.

This was a great experience. I actually found Philip on Craig's List, not Angie's List, because Angie's doesn't really have a convenient "Furniture Assembly" category. But his Craig's List ad had a link to his Angie's List profile, which did give me a bit of extra confidence. I had procrastinated for months getting this table assembled, and I had relatives coming for Christmas, so I needed to get it up. Philip saved the day! Within 20 minutes of emailing him, he gave me a quote for the table and indicated that he could get there within a couple of hours to install it that day (which was especially good, since we had recently gone through a record-setting blizzard and the roads were still not entirely clear). Once Philip got there, he went straight to work and worked diligently until the job was done. He was very friendly, polite, and professional. His fee was a bit high, as compared to the other quotes I received later that day, but it didn't seem unreasonable -- particularly since he was so quick to respond and available to do the same-day request. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to others.

Very well. Philip works diligently and consistently and complains very little. We had a 5 hour workday and a 10 hour workday and I was tired just helping out (carrying out empty boxes left over, etc) but he continued to work very hard. I felt perfectly comfortable leaving him alone in the apartment to work, he has a good work ethic and I can rely on the job being done right.

I contact Philip to put together a very large (78x92) wardrobe in our master bedroom. He responded quickly and asked a couple of follow up questions such as type of doors and any accessories, so he could provide me with an accurate quote. Since our wardrobe is actually two cabinets together, the price came out to be $160. I also asked him if he could install doors on one of our IKEA bookshelves, which was an extra $30. I contacted a couple of people about this work and Philip was the most responsive and professional. He was easy to reach by e-mail and provided me with his cell phone number as well. I had to change the time of our appointment the night before due to a scheduling conflict and Philip was able to work with me - all right after he had left me a voice mail confirming the details. I came home today to evenly hung IKEA doors on our bookshelf and an amazing wardrobe. The only mess - the boxes for us to recycle. I cannot wait to work with him again.
