About us
The Jhoon Rhee Institute of Tae Kwon Do offers one of the most prestigious martial arts programs in the world. Founded in 1962 by 10th Degree Black Belt Grandmaster Jhoon Rhee, the father of American Tae Kwon Do, the Institute is now celebrating 50 years. Some famous students of Grand Master Rhee include Muhammad Ali, George Allen, Jack Anderson, Bruce Lee, and more than 100 U.S. Congressmen and Senators. Because our instructional approach is the culmination of half a century of ongoing development and refinement, we have a truly proven system—a martial arts experience that has for decades provided fun, fitness, and self-defense ability. Just as important, we believe that our system develops skills that apply to life overall—enhancing confidence, focus, and discipline in ways that benefit our students in all their personal endeavors. has always impressed us. The school emphasizes and rewards school achievements and character development. They deliver a detail oriented exercise program that carefully develops strength, balance and confidence.
He is one of the younger kids in the class. They start teaching at 4 and he just turned 4. During class I can see the instructors take extra time with him to help him catch up and learn the ropes. They easily could just try and do the class with 1 instructor, but they have 2 or 3 on the mat at all times. That makes a difference.
What he learns from the class is how to be a leader and what that entails. In part respect, but also confidence. These tools are much more about learning how to grow up then ever learning the actual self defense. Well at least for the first couple of years I don't expect him to take down an attacker, but he might know to scream or run.
We just signed up for a 1 year extension and hope to go here for many years,
