Basically they did not listen to what we wanted, quoted prices that were much lower than what it would actually cost to do the work.  We met with Mark from Gardenwise to discuss a complete redesign of the
backyard including tearing down an existing 10x20 garage that was
dilapidated,  replacing it with a smaller shed, new patio, fixing the
driveway and adding a border, landscaping the whole front and back
yard.  The scope of work on the contract proposal was listed as "the
entire property."  Mark told us that he thought the project could be
completed between $40,000 - $50,000.  Based on that, we hired him. What
we got back was a joke.  The first proposal came back with the existing
garage still in its current location, but instead of a garage door, it
now had french doors! (Realize that this garage was in horrible shape and was essentially open to squirrels and other animals. It probably could have been pushed over.) The driveway, which was asphalt in horrible shape and was being
pushed up by tree roots in numerous places would now get a granite block
border. There was no quote for the new shed.  Needless to say this
missed the mark on what we asked for AND on pricing. Adding the shed
kicked it up to over $80k.  We sent an email and explained that this was
not at all what was discussed. 
Mark came out to the house with his masonry guy to get info and submit a new quote. While pointing things out to him it was clear he was not listening.  The new quote came back in the low $50k's, but ALMOST ALL of the landscaping was stripped out
of the project.  He left in some brush clearing, and sod, but when I inquired to hire them for that portion, it was clear that they completely underbid it and had no intention of doing the work at that price because they only included 20 rolls of sod. I inquired to Travis about the cost of doing the whole lawn and he emailed me back "Entire Back yard as shown on the plan: Roughly (120) 10 sqft pieces."  I stopped contacting them at that point.  So if you want a bait and switch, with someone that won't listen to what you want, and will blow your budget, this may be a perfect fit. Had he said it was $2,900 and I can do what you want for $70-80k, I NEVER would have hired him or Gardenwise.  His work looks good on pictures, for whatever that is worth. I have all emails and bids to back up my review. 

They were very professional and came put to look at the property for free. They were also timely, but I found their design a little too standard for my liking. I don't feel like they really listen to my suggestions.

They were very professional and had a lot of great ideas for the landscaping. They dealt largely with my wife in figuring out what kind of flora to put around the house. They seemed very accommodating. They were expensive but that's expected; they were little bit more pricey than I would have liked but otherwise there handy works seemed to be good. I won't be able to really tell you until things start to flower in the spring. Their prices were outrageous.

We contracted for full yard design and were able to afford hardscape and front yard plant installation. We've worked from the plans to install backyard plantings on our own over a couple of years and it looks great. We found Gardenwise pricing on the high side - but you definitely get what you pay for--quality plantings, design and performance. Installation team was wonderful.
