If you are considering building, remodeling, or repairing a home, I cannot recommend a builder more highly than Enhanced.
P.S. I kept editing this review several times because I worried that people would think Ryan and his staff wrote it. But, like Han Solo said about the Force, "it's all true."
Karl paid special attention to making sure that the panels were lined up so that their appearance was as attractive as possible, and so that the wiring was almost invisible. This was not easy, especially given the wiring requirements and the geometry of the roof.
I had to leave for a meeting before they had mounted the panels, but when I returned not only was the job done perfectly, but there was a note with detailed notes for the prime contractor. I am very impressed with this company.
The short version: Enhanced was easy to work with in 2008 and the end product seemed fine. But when I uncovered workmanship problems in 2013, Enhanced was difficult to reach (and I'm a repeat client), disorganized, and incorrectly diagnosed the source of a water leak. I paid to have Enhanced's work redone by another contractor and would not feel comfortable with their work even if they had been willing to make the repairs themselves.
The long version: In 2008, I thought Enhanced did a fine job with the bay window construction. They were friendly and the quality of the work seemed fine. Fast forward to March 2013, a little more than 4 years after the original job. In vacating the condo to make way for tenants I noticed significant water damage on the bay windowsill (I will attach pictures if permitted by Angie's List). Without any particular expectations, I tried to contact Mike and Ryan at Enhanced to ask them to take a look. It required several phone calls and polite voicemails over a number of days before Mike eventually called me back to say they were too busy to look at the damage for at least a few weeks, but he would contact me to set up a time.
Several weeks went by without a callback, but I finally reached Mike again in May 2013 and arranged a visit for May 24th. Because I no longer live in the condo and because Mike's schedule was in flux, we agreed Mike would call me en route to let me know the meeting time. Instead, Mike misplaced my contact information and went to the condo without me, where my tenants were home and allowed him to look at the water damage. After not hearing from Mike, I called him and discovered he had already made his visit. Mike confidently insisted the water was entering through the wall from above and not from outside the bay window - which is to say, not due to Enhanced's construction work.
I visited the upstairs condo unit and verified there were no signs of water leakage from above. The condo property manager then inspected the outside of the bay window and reported the caulking was poorly done. Mike's evaluation of the water leak seemed clearly erroneous, though I'm not sure whether it was intentional (to avoid the obligation to make repairs) or from lack of expertise. Neither option was comforting, and due to the difficulty of dealing with Enhanced and the apparently poor quality of the original work, I opted not to push Enhanced to make repairs. To be clear, I did not make any request for free or discounted repairs in my follow-up conversations; based on my earlier positive experience I intended to use Enhanced for the follow-up work if the repairs weren't the result of poor workmanship.
Instead, I took my business to a different contractor, who also confirmed the poor caulking from Enhanced's original construction work was the cause of the water leak. I would not recommend Enhanced Roofing and Remodeling.
"I am sorry to hear that you feel we did a poor job. However, you even stated, this was 5 years after the installation. Caulk easily could have been worn away after 5 years. We do our very best to provide responsive and reliable service along with quality workmanship."
"Thank you member. It was a pleasure working with you."
"We never received any messages. After this review I followed up with the individual and have not heard any word back. I offered to return and repair any issue/s. We take great pride in our work and responsiveness to customers."
"Wow, I can't believe this customer. Sometimes roof leaks can be elusive and difficult to find. We continued to visit the home in an attempt to find the leaks. We literally went to the home 5-6-7 times. We even proceeded to offer a full refund. Of course we expressed concern over a negative review. I just can't believe this home owner left this review. We did everything to try and remedy the situation. The home owner then called out Shiner Roofing who wanted a large sum of money for a minor repair. He called us back out and we fixed the roof in another location, again, for free. Things ended on a good note. We truly pride ourselves on quality, timely and affordable repairs."
