Overpromised and under-delivered. Blew out my budget and my time frame in the most unprofessional and brazen manner. Needless to say, I would not do business with them again, and I recommend that no one else do so either.

We purchased an historic1892 farmhouse in April 2012 knowing it would need a complete overhaul of floorplan, plumbing, electricity, appliances, kitchen, bathroom, HVAC etc. Shopped around quite a bit and talk to lots of contractors. We selected Commonwealth Restorations because of the quality of their work and their experience and committment to the project. My family had used them on a previous remodel and they had done great work. We knew this was going to be a challenging project and we felt confident that Commonwealth could handle the job. Their prices were extremely competitive and fair and Bob Strunk worked hard to help us get our budget to where we needed it to be. You hear all sorts of horror stories about remodels dragging on forever. Our project finished on time--the guys worked long hours and on weekends--and would have been under budget had we not made a number of changes. Bob had lots of good suggestions and at one point talked me out of doing something that in retrospect would have been a mistake. Unlike some contractors, Commonwealth actually employs many of its staff, so we never had worries about who was in our house and Bob himself was there all the time keeping an eye on things. We got to know the crew really well and were actually sad to see them go when the project was finished. Bob also stands firmly behind his work and quickly responds whenever we've had an issue. He even helped us out when we didn't have power during Hurricane Sandy by having one of his guys bring a generator over. We love these guys and would definitely hire them again. Cannot recommend highly enough. The project turned out incredibly well and we couldn't be more pleased.

The job was done fantastically. Work was completed on-time and according to the construction schedule we received at the start of the project. All members of the company's office staff were very professional, polite, and extremely responsive. We appreciated the constant communication and project updates throughout the entire project. The quality of the work performed by Commonwealth Restorations is top notch. All of the workers and subcontractors were punctual, very professional, and above all, took the time to clean up before leaving everyday and ensure that our house was protected at all times from construction dust. Commonwealth took the time to work with us to design, implement, and build the addition we were dreaming of within our budget. They worked with us to help keep the cost of materials down where we could. We couldn't have been more pleased.

Bob and his team did great work from start to finish. Their prices were competitive, and they were the only contractor to provide us with a detailed proposal (including drawings) rather than an "off-the-top-of-my-head" estimate. Bob was willing to incorporate changes that we wanted to make (both before and after work started) and fixed a number of little things in the house in the process. They started and finished ahead of schedule. The house was left clean (to the extent possible during construction) every day when the workers left. We are very pleased with our addition.
