Unfortunately this company has slowly declined in performance since the loss of the founder. There is an utter lack of execution that is incredibly frustrating and is exacerbated since the only time you need CHS is when you need them, so when they do not perform it is quite noticeable. Apparently that was not a great concern, and the business must be doing okay since they were happy to part with a client of more than a decade, I was happy to say adios and avoid paying for increased PM fees and upchages with little to no value in return.

CHS is an excellent company. They come four times per year to perform all kinds of safety and maintenance tasks on my home. They are professional and high quality and I have learned an enormous amount about my home from them. They also provide handyman services as needed. I don't have to worry about who to call when things go wrong, I can always turn to CHS.

I could detail many large and small projects that were completed in a timely and professional manner at a reasonable cost. The best part of the service is that I do not have to worry about getting ripped off by unscrupulous contractors. I have had repairs completed on both my A/C and furnace. Without Clarendon Home Service it would be easy for a repair company to represent the need for high cost repair or even replacement; however with Clarendon Home Service as my representative the repairs were completed with minimal cost in one case and zero cost in another case. The zero cost repair was a 9 yr old furnace that needed a new motor. Clarendon Home Service was able to determine that it was covered under warranty, even though I had none of the original paperwork. This instance alone probably saved me $1000.

The company promises and quot;construction management servicesand quot; but throughout the entire project I was left on my own to select bath fixtures, flooring, and type of paint. Given that I am not a professional this took a great deal of time and effort.
I communicated with the company numerous times asking for assistance but did not receive it.
The company promises and quot;Satisfaction Guaranteed.and quot; and quot;If you are ever not fully satisfied with any service, please let us know and we'll immediately make things right. We're not happy until you are.and quot;
Taking them at their word, I explained my dissatisfaction.
Shortly after I told the company about my dissatisfaction, particularly about the lack of project management and multiple scheduling snafus, my personal belongings were rifled through. This was during a time when I was not at home and the only persons in my home were connected to Clarendon Home Services.
When I contacted Erik Gutshall, the president of the company his reply was, and quot;the notion that anyone would adjust multiple random items........defies all explanationand quot;
These were not and quot;multiple random items.and quot; The were meaningful personal possessions including family photos. It is pretty disturbing when a picture of your three-year-old grandson has been handled by a stranger whom you did not invite into your personal space, in this case my bedroom.
I am very disappointed in the quality of the work, the intrusion into my personal space, and the callous dismissal of my distress.

I had my first preventive maintenance check with Clarendon Home Services and was absolutely delighted that my expectations were exceeded! The and quot;craftsmanand quot;, Mike, was incredibly knowledgeable about all the systems in my house and was professional and a joy to be around. This company does maintenance checks quarterly, and since this was my first one, it was fairly extensive -- including cleaning my dryer vent, which is on the second floor and extends across a bedroom -- Mike went up in to the attic and took it apart to ensure a thorough cleaning! I have been in this house for 16 years and no company has ever been that thorough! He also fixed an issue with one of my toilets and replaced my garbage disposal in a snap. They will repair anything in your home in addition to the maintenance checks -- they are one-stop shopping for home maintenance and repairs. They are replacing some of my roof shingles that were damaged during the hurricane, and are even cleaning the gutters. It is such a relief to be able to pick up the phone and have one place take care of everything! All the staff has been wonderful to work with. I should have contracted with them years ago!!!!

If something like this came up, yes I would hire them again.

It is so helpful to have a firm/person who is recommended by knowledgeable people rather than having to find someone myself. I can't recommend Mike highly enough. He is efficient and thorough. He takes the time to explain what he is doing and answer even lengthy questions. He also now knows our home, he follows up on areas that were having trouble before, he remembers and checks on where I am in getting ready to schedule improvement projects we have on hold, etc. He also seems to appreciate our goofy puppy and doesn't mind having him around inspecting all work as it is happening. .

They do a really good job. We've only had one problem with one of the services but it got rectified and we were very satisfied. We really need their help and are very delighted to have their services; we trust them. Our house is well maintained and in order; things work, which is a comfortable feeling. Excellent value for the money!

The wood needed repair around the door, they repaired and painted that. The shutters took quite a while; that was a big project. Clarendon Home Services were excellent. We used them because they were close by and they had excellent reports on Angie's List. All of the workers were very friendly and courteous. They were very skilled and they worked very well. I am considering using them again for inside the house.

Used Clarendon Home Services on two occasions recently for a rental property in Arlington. The first time, I was notified by my tenants of plumbing leak. I was out of town and it was late in the day. I wanted to find a reputable company close to the house, so I used Angieslist search filters and contacted Clarenedon Home Services. They promised me they would have someone out to the house shortly. The gentleman who solved the problem called me when he arrived, notified me of the problem and even called me again when everything was resolved. I was so pleased I used them again for another plumbing issue. Mike was wonderful. I'll definitely call this company for other projects in the future.

They are always prompt, friendly and punctual. We receive a quarterly house check, where deficiencies are noted and routine maintenance done. No heavy sales - they note areas needing attention, and it is up to us to engage them or not. They often will tell us how to do it ourselves, or where we could save money, but we usually engage Clarendon Home Services for most repairs. Let's face it, if we had the time and expertise, we wouldn't need them quarterly. However, we have neither the time nor the expertise, and deferring home maintenance tends to be more costly in the long run, so we think our annual maintenance fee is money well spent. Also, we like that the owner of the company and the handy men and women are all neighbors.

He was punctual and very nice. He located the problem quickly. He had the part with him and replaced it. My heater has been working fine ever since. It was an emergency call and they did not take advantage of that with the pricing. They were punctual and professional. I will keep their number handy. I will use them again in the future.

They were very reliable and did excellent work. They were very personable, corporative and prompt.

Everything they do from start to finish is professional. I have had contractors in to do major upgrades and when they leave I have to clean up all the debris that is left behind. Clarendon does not leave anything behind. They are efficient ,friendly and ontime as anyone can be in the Northern Virginia area, due to the traffic. When they can't meet the appointment time I get a call and I am told what the problem is and how much longer it will take. They have been working for me for over two years.

I pay them by the year like a contract. Then quarterly they go in and just go through my house and they fix whatever is broken. They then send quarterly invoices. Whatever work I need done in my house and if they don't do it, they will call their own personal people and I pay a flat rate. Then there will be a safety inspection. It's pretty much anything that I need to get done in my house and when I sign them up, they do it for me. They just bill me quarterly. I think their yearly fee is $400 or something like that. It depends on what work they have to do. In my case they had to fix a washer and replace the control panel. So that was like $400. They are very good. I don't think it was that good of a price but I don't know that much about washers. They were pretty good with punctuality. I will continue to use their services again in the future.

I called and they fit me into the schedule (they have a stable of subscriber clients who get top priority, but still managed to fit me in without issue). Mike showed up on time, had everything he needed, got to work quickly and effectively. Everything was done quickly and very well. The repair for the fan didn't fully work, but we knew that fixing it completely was unlikely due to a design decision when the place was built--c'est la vie. Anyway, they're very responsive and I will definitely use them again.

They are reasonably priced, professional, and prompt. Ant they are unique in that they have an annual homeowners contract.

We were happy with them. They were very pleasant and efficient. They had the parts that they needed in their truck. In terms of price, for what we got and the convenience of it, I would give them an and ldquo;Aand rdquo;. I would absolutely use their services again in the future. We had signed up with their service.

Erik and his team are always very professional and trustworthy. They do a great job and are considerate to your home in regards to cleaning up afterwards and that they care about doing a quality job.

You can count on them to be straightforward, honest, and reasonably priced.

I plan on using them in the future and would recommend them.

It was great and they were great. I called and they had an opening. The guy came right on time. He diagnosed the problem very quickly and had the part in his van. He did the repair and my unit has been working very well ever since. They were fabulous. The price seemed reasonable but I had no basis for comparison. He did the work very quickly and he came within the timeframe they had given me. He explained what he had done and showed me the part. I would absolutely use them again.
