+ -1 moreAs with all old historic house, we ran into unexpected problems but worked through them together to our mutual satisfaction. Steve Vincent is very careful about trying to figure out the best and most permanent solution to a problem without breaking the bank. He and his son are very tidy and keep the place immaculate while they are working, which pleased me.
Description of Work: I own a 19th century Victorian home in Old Town Alexandria, VA. Vincent Contracting replaced the historic wood siding and did an excellent job, as many contractors aren't familiar with this type of siding and the best methods for preparing and installing it. Vincent Contracting helped me order replacement wood windows and installed them, along with new wood trim inside and out. As the siding was removed we discovered several problems, including a crumbled interior brick chimney which had to be removed and which then required installing some recovered heart pine flooring in the dining room. Unexpectedly we found problems with the mansard roof, and Vincent Contracting rebuilt the roof deck and replaced the historic dentil molding, which was rotted through. This was done in preparation for a roofer to install a traditional slate roof with a new copper underlayment and downspout. They even stripped and repainted an elaborate cornice over the front door.
