Great experience with Matthew's Nationwide. I found them on a reddit thread for good interstate movers in the Washington DC area. Called three companies and like these guys the best. I have had several bad experiences with movers in the past. However, this team was lovely, professional, efficient, and most importantly (to me) very meticulous. Don't hesitate to give Jessica a call. Shout out to Alex and Mike who did an amazing job. Highly recommend!

Retired military with numerous moves - can honestly say this team was the best I’ve seen. Jessica is very responsive and helpful, adjusting schedule and assisting with last minute changes with absolute consideration. Matthew and crew were absolutely trustworthy, efficient without being rushed, very professional, and pleasant to be around - they communicated well with us and with each other and the atmosphere was great. I absolutely recommend and will be requesting this same team for our next move!

Highly recommend Matthew’s Nationwide for your moving needs! They make the moving process less stressful through every step (booking, coordinating, packing) and the entire crew was extremely professional. They are also very reasonably priced compared to other movers in the DC area. We’ve used them twice!

Alex, Mike and Edgar were very thorough, prompt and detail oriented. They arrived 15 minutes early and got straight to work. Though we had wrapped some of our furnitures, they came prepared with extra wraps and supplies to assist us. They surely helped our moving out experience go smoothly. They moved our things into the storage neatly and orderly. We will be calling them back when it’s time to move into our home.

Alex, Mike, Chris, and Edgar were AMAZING! We used them last year and again today and they are not only communicative but they are so attentive to our furniture and other stuff. Matthews Nationwide was the best moving company I've ever hired. Period. I did extensive research on movers when I had to move a family member from Seattle to Atlanta. Matthews nationwide came highly recommended by a friend and they EXCEEDED my very high expectations. They quoted the inventory accurately and picked-up and delivered on schedule. Customer service was exceptional.

Overall the experience was unsatisfactory. This was our second experience and unfortunately this move went nothing like the first one. The crew arrived 30 min late, took 15 min smoke breaks every 45 min, did not protect the floors in the house moving from or for the brand new house we were moving into. The trip between houses somehow took the movers an 2.5 hrs to complete a 1hr trip then wanted to take a lunch break upon arrival. All things considered our goods arrived undamaged although some items are still unaccounted for including some jewelry. Just not what we got the first time around.

Under normal circumstances, I do not do online reviews of companies, products and/or services but felt compelled to do so after my experience with this company. Contacted several moving companies for quotes for upcoming move. Decided to go with Matthew's Nationwide Moving not because of price but because of the numerous positive reviews. Provided the company with a comprehensive list of items to be moved via email. All items were wrapped and boxed. I only required a crew to load and unload. Was given a very competitive quote at $100/hour for a 2 man crew + truck. The problem started the night before the scheduled move (around 9 PM)when the owner called and advised me that he would recommend a 3 man crew (at a higher price) because of the amount of items I had. This was odd and confusing because I provided the comprehensive list and was told that the move could be done with the 2 man crew. I was questioned if boxes were going to be moved which were clearly listed on my list to which the owner advised he only briefly looked over it. After a lot of back and forth, he said since I hired a 2 man crew he could definitely do it but it would take them more time. Then I was advised that if I cancel, I would lose my $100 deposit EVEN THOUGH it was the company that called me at the last minute and attempted to change the terms of the agreement. The whole thing felt like a shakedown for more money so I ultimately cancelled and lost my deposit. My wife and I got the feeling that the 2 man crew would not move as efficiently as possible to prolong the move to get more money. Buyer beware! There are other moving companies who will give you honest quotes for estimated time based on the items you are moving. This company lacks integrity and should re-evaluate their business processes. When a comprehensive list of items to move is given to your company, you should take the time to review the list and address any concerns BEFORE you take a deposit instead of telling customers that everything looks good. Thankfully, I was able to hire another service to assist with moving through UHaul of all places. I hired a 2 man crew at a fraction of the costs of Matthew's Nationwide Moving and the load/unload was completed within 4 hours.

"I called [Member Name Removed] the night before the move. I asked if he would like to use 3 men for his move instead of the 2 he originally requested. I tried to explain that it will only speed the day up. It would've been the same price or possibly a little cheaper since he would be paying less money per man. He originally requested 2 men at $100/hour. I offered to bring 3 men at $140/hour. Both have the same $400 minimum. Instead of paying $50/hour per man, he would be paying around $47/man. I did not force this on the customer, only offered. I said we can bring the 2 he originally requested for the price we agreed on and he said no, I'll find someone else. He thought this was some sort of bait and switch technique. I was only trying to speed the move up and possibly save him a little bit of money, but instead, he is outraged and leaves us a bad review. If you read our other 150 positive reviews, you will realize that we are not scammers. We are hard working, trustworthy movers and have never scammed anyone."

Chris and Bobby moved our 2420 sq foot home to storage during renovation, it went without a hitch. They took great care, putting down padding, wrapping door jams, banisters, etc. Top notch. I'd recommend them for your moving needs.

When I called to schedule the appointment I spoke to "Matt". He told me that he would recommend 2 movers for 4 hours to move large furniture from my 3 bedroom apartment in Alexandria to my new home in Purcellville. He immediately told me that the special did not include Purcellville and he would have to include the amount of time it took his movers to travel from their homes to Purcellville and back in the total hours. Because I purchased 4 movers for 4 hours and was receiving 2 movers I assumed that meant I would have 8 hours included in my $600 purchase. Therefore I was annoyed, but not overly concerned.
On moving day my movers arrived and proceeded to move my furniture. It soon became clear that they would go longer than 4 hours. At which point I was told that the $600 package no longer applied AT ALL. Because there were only 2 movers I would be charged $100/hour. I was furious as Matt had recommended the 2 movers instead of the 4 I had purchased. It also took them 6 hours to complete the move plus travel time instead of the 4 Matt had estimated.
In total I paid $900. I feel completely deceived by the package offered versus the structure of how I was finally charged. I sincerely wish I had simply stuck to 4 movers for 4 hours as described. I was never told that a reduction in the number of movers could ultimately cost me MORE because it would take longer to complete my move. I would never recommend this mover to anyone.

"When [Member Name Removed] purchased the 4 movers for 4 hours, for $600, the prices for 2 movers and 3 movers WERE and STILL ARE literally right next to that deal on Angie's List. These prices are open to all of Angie's List members. What she failed to mention was, my 4 movers showed up on the original move date. they waited over an hour, nobody was home so they left. For this, we charge $200 of any customer's deposit, but I did not charge anything. She reschedules. I suggest using 3 movers at $125/hour, instead of 4 movers at $150/hour, because 3 of these hours, she would be paying 4 men to drive 1 truck, with only 1 hour of loading/unloading. This would have been far more pricy than what she paid. The 2nd time around, my 3 movers show up. Her painters are not finished painting her house, so we cannot move that day either. At this time, I took her $200 deposit, leaving her with $400 of service. I had to pay my guys both times they showed up, I only charged her the $200. Any other moving company would have taken the $600 the first time. We speak again. I suggest going with 2 movers this time, because she has $400 worth of services left, and the total drive time is 3 hours. This would get her the most of her money. My guys complete the job flawlessly, in a timely manner. [Member Name Removed] offers my guys a tip halfway through the job to try to make them work faster. This was a bold face lie as my guys did not receive any tip. Did I mention she had a PIANO! Not the best idea to force guys to practically RUN with your expensive piano. At the end of the job. She calls me and says my guys did a wonderful job, but wants a discount? The prices on Angie's List are already discounted GREATLY, on top of that I gave her another $50 off. From my perspective, she was mad at the painters who took an extra 2 weeks to paint the house, and she took her anger out on us."

best moving company I have ever used. Initially hired Matthew for local VA to move belongings into storage to stage home for sale. Was so impressed with the diligence and efficiency, hired Matthew for an out of state move to NC. Impressed by the professional service, and can-do attitude for every aspect of the move, There was no wasted time, no hidden charges or unexpected fees. Professional, polite, personable, and some of the hardest workers you will ever see. Days after the move, and totally unsolicited, staff at the large storage facility commented on how impressed they were with Matthew and his crew- from the appearance of the trucks, their professionalism, and how they "hustled" to get the job done. Matt and his team were tremendous; on-time, polite, hardworking. Matt did a walk-through before starting the job to make sure they moved only what needed to go. Once they began working, they didn't stop. The heavy-duty truck they brought along was clean inside and out. All blankets appeared to be very clean if not new. Before they began the move, they laid new plastic runners on all floor/carpets. They also attached a moving blanket to the front door jamb to make sure the woodwork wasn't damaged while carrying goods out of the house. Everything was carefully wrapped, carried, and staged before being placed into the truck. The house was left in mint condition. Matt and his team arrived around the same time I did at the new house and again got right to work off-loading. In short, if you need to move, these are your guys. You won't find a better company for a move within the U.S.

Matthew and Mike arrived on time, easily understood instructions, went straight to work and methodically loaded the truck and super-simplified a usually nerve-wracking experience. Matthew and his team (two additional movers) did an excellent job moving lots of furniture, a refrigerator, and boxes out of a three story townhome with windy stairs to a single family home locally. The crew was polite, efficient, and very careful with our belongings. I highly recommend them for any moves. We plan to use them as well for an out of state move as well. Very positive experience.
