As a halfway decent handyman myself (except poor tiling skills, sigh) I have a pretty good idea the work and skill it takes to do what GMG services does I am a fan. I've had GMG out for much more than tile install, which I will rave endlessly about their craftsmanship. They've done a variety of complicated tasks, including carpentry, electrical, bathroom remodel, hardwood floor refinishing and landscape fencing to name a few. They excel, every time, and are easy to work with across multiple levels. They are a one stop, one call home contracting organization for whatever you need. Go with them, you won't regret it.

I am thrilled with the complete remodel of my condo by GMG Services! Working with Oscar, his team and recommended vendors made the process so easy and I'm very pleased with the work. GMG takes great care at every phase of the remodel. I cannot thank them enough for making my dreams come true!!

GMG services is my contractor of choice in the DC area. I cannot use too many superlatives to describe their work and the experience contracting some bathroom tasks with them. I have experience in handyman and light remodeling tasks for income in college, so I know my way around Home Depot and doing many home improvement tasks. I took a desk job as a career since and recently bought a house a few years ago, shifting my time and focus and I got out of practice of remodeling work. When it was apparent that I needed to gut my condo bathroom for a once a century renovation, I had the same apprehensions like anyone else; if I contract out the work, will they: 1. Do a great job? 2. Not take me for a ride in pricing out tasks, etc? Sound familiar? Given the rush of pandemic home improvement for contracting and some time on my hands, I decided to jump in and do it myself, possibly out of a desire for self-punishment. :) As reality set in on the scope of work, I entertained offers from 5 different companies and had some not stellar experiences before GMG came along. Oscar first came to my attention in responding to my work request by being flexible in piecing out tasks of the renovation job and recommending that I replace my cast iron drain pipes. He wanted to make sure it was done right, regardless of who did the work, so he returned the call, even though his shop was booked. I looked into it and saw the need for pipe replacement. I became a fan. They fit in a task of rebuilding the subfloor and drain pipes in the bathroom and tub installation. I noticed the attention to detail of setting the floor, challenges of the old space and even giving me a heads up on issues like the levelness of the floor, rather than letting me figure it out by myself. The contractor, Nelson Reyes didn't have to, but its attention to detail like this that makes the services his crew performed stand out. Later, when the birth of our second child was moved up and life got really crazy, I called GMG services again to get the remaining bathroom tasks finished. Edmundo and company got to work, in what I consider a superhero task getting this bathroom to the finish line. They made sure that our particular tastes were accounted for and had finishing touches that were perfect for the job required and quirks of a 1940s building. Several fewer things to worry about while juggling a toddler! Oscar saw my obvious bind in needing GMG's services and worked out a fair bid price for scope of work regardless. Knowing firsthand the skill and energy it takes to do this type of renovation work, trust me when I say its money well spent with this company. GMG did a great job at a more than fair price and earned my trust. My only regret in the process is not turning over everything to them to begin with. If you do, you will be in good hands.

Oscar Melina and his team at GMG did an awesome job renovating our 10'x12' bathroom. There are too many “pros” and very few “cons” while working with GMG, but I’ll call out a few. The communication was the best I’ve ever had working with any contractor. Oscar went through every aspect to make sure he knew what we wanted….the specific materials and orientation of the tiles, checking and double checking key things to avoid mistakes/delays, etc. Any question I had was quickly answered and Oscar was ALWAYS picking up the phone for my calls or would reach back out to me right away. The estimates were VERY accurate. And Oscar gave us a few recommendations that made a big improvement over our original ideas for very little $$....I think we went with each one because they were great ideas. His tile guy is awesome….very meticulous and did a perfect job. And to get this level of service for a small 10'x12' bathroom when I’m sure they were dealing with far larger and more profitable jobs….I was pleasantly surprised. The cons were the plumber and painter….it took some repeated trips out for them to fix a few things and a couple were things that sort of surprised us, but Oscar made sure things got fixed right away and without arguments. His response was always that they wanted to make sure we were happy….that carries a LOT of weight with us. We will definitely be using them for future jobs and will gladly recommend them to any friends and neighbors.

Oscar and his team were amazing every step of the way! We met to discuss our plan and Oscar guided us to think about what we wanted and referred us to suppliers. He always followed thru to answer questions and let us know what was next. His men were professional, courteous and respectful of our home. They covered things and cleaned each day. He clearly communicated the price for everything and finished on schedule. I truly trust their service. And best of all, we love our new bathroom.

My experience with this company started off ok but ended up being a total headache that is still not over (small 3 week project started in August, still going!). Tons of confusion and communication issues within the company and with me. Calls not returned, info not passed on, etc. Issues with the work itself. Several small mistakes that wasted time going back to fix. One big mistake that is going to create a new project for me along with more demo and likely more expense. To add insult to injury i went back to audit the receipt and found i had overpaid by several hundred dollars. Reached out two weeks ago amout getting reimbursed for this amount.... still no resolution on that either.

The quality of GMG's work was amazing. The basement was transformed and their design/ creativity of moving the location of the basement bathroom maximized the amount of usable space. We are very pleased with the quality of work. In addition, one of the firm's partners -- Oscar -- was great to deal with since he kept us informed of the process and was always responsive. As with many large projects things may not go exactly as planned. For us, there were unanticipated delays. The work went on a few more weeks than originally expected. These were addressed by GMG and do not detract from our overall impression of the firm.

They were very responsive and punctual.  They did a quality job at a fair price. The tiles were purchased independent of the price.

Did an excellent job, started and finished as pledged, at a very reasonable price and with no residue left for me to dispose of. And the company's own quality control checking was stellar.

This was the fourth renovation activity that Oscar of GMG has done for us. As with the other work we would add pluses to the ratings if that were possible.
Oscar personally managed our project from design to estimation and from construction to completion. He had a total grasp of the technicalities of this job as well as an excellent sense of design. He supported us in obtaining the need variance, provided a detailed proposal with cost broken down by work element and easily adjusted to the changes we made both before and during the renovation.
All the work crews, especially Alex and Roberto --the primary workers, were outstanding. They were easy to work with, totally understood what they needed to do and did it in a highly skilled way. When a problem developed they addressed it promptly with imagination. The property was properly protected before any work was started -- for example, masonite (not just paper) protecting the wood floors.
The workers were routinely here on time, usually by 8:15 and by 5 or 5:30 PM they had completely cleaned up for the day. And during the day it was all work.
GMG has a system where there is a driver who delivers the needed material in the morning -- no waiting while your crew goes off to buy the material -- and a driver who picks up all trash at the end of the day. 
Oscar's stated approach is that it is better to have the work done slowly, carefully and correctly the first time. 
The final product was beyond our expectations. When judged against similar work done for our neighbors by other contractors it is far superior in detail and overall appearance. The remodeled brick wall, French doors and patio brick work is seamless from the original standard of work. The revised interior was identical to the original.
GMG's work is no less than the best!

This is the second time we have used GMG.  We had them do major alterations when we bought our unit, the largest type available in the Fairlington condominiums.  At that time, they create good looking, useful storage space on the upper level bedrooms and bath and main level bedroom and kitchen sometimes where it did not seem possible and installed good looking and very useful cabinets on our lower level.
Oscar Molina is a joy to work with and he has a designer's eye for how our wishes can best be met.  He worked out our project with us, created our contract and remained our key contact throughout the project.  Aldo supervises the workmen to make sure what they do is high quality and Oscar and Logan were very helpful in guiding us in our dealings with material suppliers.  The result is two beautiful, very functional bathrooms, a stunning living room and dining room and no more concern about asbestos in the ceiling.  And they got it all done before Christmas. 
GMG knows the Fairlington units very well and the requirements and limits of the condo boards.  I have seen the excellent results of their work in other units.  I am sure that their team would work well anywhere.

The whole experience was good, from arranging the job, adjusting some of the requested work, and the actual results. In fact, the results were better than expected, and they completed work ahead of schedule!  Although drywall work can be notoriously messy, the crew was amazingly neat. Not only did they cover everything with plastic, they actually washed surfaces that couldn't be covered. All drywall work and the crown molding is excellent. This company will be our go-to contractor for other projects in the future, guaranteed.

We had a long, 3 part project with Oscar and GMG.  He was referred to us after completing a large renovation on my sister's place in Capitol Hill.  Oscar is great, he laid out a clear plan, he took his time with us and was flexible.  HE is very good at solving the inevitable problems that come with renovation in a 120 year old house.
The price was an A because while not cheap the total cost was exactly what he said it would be and we never got any unexpected surprises or extra charged.
I have done some renovations here myself and can be very critical of finishing and quality and there are little things that I see now, 3 years after the 1st part of the job that I would like just a little better but I am a perfectionist and the quality of the work overall is excellent.
There were some times when I felt like our job manager and crew were a little hard to get hold of, therefore the B regarding responsiveness.
Overall, Oscar Molina and GMG performed work at a reasonable cost for the very high quality, with no cost overruns and no surprises, when something wasn't right they fixed it with good grace and no hassle.  I would (and have) use them again and have recommended them several times without reservation.  Honesty, quality, fair pricing, and also just personally pleasant.

GMG had great references and their price was well below most of the other estimates. They also worked well and helped me work with the tile provider(s) . The job was estimated to take 4 weeks but stretched out quite a bit longer as they ran into problems removing the old wall tile. I also added to the initial scope of work.
They were very responsive to my concerns as the work progressed and addressed every problem I had. Aldo, the crew supervisor, was excellent. It would have helped out quite a bit if I had had comprehensive floor plans and notes before the job was started -- I only had incomplete drawings. This made it necessary for me to check the work daily (except for the days when the crew had to work on another job and was not onsite) .
They did uniformly high quality work throughout. The only real problem was getting the shower floor to drain properly, and they ended up having to re-do the floor (without extra charge). It all worked out well on the end, however, and I am very satisfied with the completed job.

For both of our large renovations in the Springfield townhouse, they were not without problems, mostly with our suppliers, GMG worked with us to ensure a successful conclusion.  For instance one day, at 5:00 PM our GMG workers were getting into their car to depart for the day and our supplier dropped a 450 pound replacement tub with four bathrooms worth of tile on our curb during a moderate rain.  The supplier informed us that his only responsibility was to drop the shipment.  The GMG employees recognized our problem, got out of their car and helped us move the shipment into our home, including the 450 pound tub by themselves.  
GMG has always performed professionally.  Anyone who has major renovations, recognize that living in the home through the process is very difficult, however, GMG works with their customers to limit the inconvenience as best they can.  Their technical work is impeccable, their cleanup work is excellent and when we had problems with some of the materials we purchased they provided us with options to remedy the problems.  Whenever we do report problems with any part of the installation, they are quick to "fix" the problem to our satisfaction.  For instance there was an oversight in painting under our counter in the kitchen.  We brought it to GMG's attention and they immediately took care of it.  GMG is always patient, they work well with our many questions and worries.  On all of our work, they have worked well with our decorator, even taking the time to Skype when she was out of town.  We and other family members have worked with GMG and its owner successfully for over ten years.  We also always feel comfortable leaving GMG alone in our home while we run errands, etc.
In conclusion, we would never go with another company for any of our projects, big or small.

Terrible. Classic scenario of poor communications and expectations not being aligned. Our most recent update, but an expensive Restoration Hardware mirror (heavy) just cam unattached from the wall because GMG, when doing the original install, did it inadequately and used simple wall anchors. The result? The mirror pulled these and the screws right out of the sheetrock. They didn't take the time to install a crossbrace for the support of such a heavy mirror. Caveat emptor. This repair will cost us around $600 if we can get somebody in here to do the work right at the height of the busiest time of the year.

Arrived on time, very courteous and competent. Oscar and his crew are great. Very easy to work with. Think a bit more expensive than it should be but the promptness and end product are great

Work was done shortly after we move into 3 bedroom condo in South Fairlington. Oscar Molina gave us excellent ideas on how to do the changes we wanted to add storage space and reconfigure the second floor for larger closets and more effective rooms and ways to save money in the process. He arranged for us to see work that GMG had done in the same model unit as ours, which showed us the quality of their work and additional solutions which we had not known were possible. He and the GMG crew were always very responsive and good to work with and completed the work without delays. We are extremely satisfied with the results.

I was very impressed with the job done by GMG Services' contractor Oscar Molina and his crew on the new kitchen for my townhouse. Oscar was highly recommended by friends of mine, and as I found out, for good reason; he and his crew were amazingly efficient, professional, and punctual. This was the first big remodel I've done in some time, so I was grateful for the good advice Oscar gave me about various details, such as the right size tile to use for the flooring and how best to lay the tile. He also volunteered a better way to run the pipes under the sink, which freed a significant amount of cabinet space underneath. All of his work was completed on time and within the contract budget. He was also very willing to work with my kitchen designer, and responsive to any requests or questions she submitted to him. Also, even after the job was substantially completed, he and his crew have been quick to respond to any calls from me about small "punch-list" items, and to address them. I couldn't be happier with the job GMG did, and I love my new kitchen! I would recommend GMG and Oscar to anyone looking for a good contractor for a kitchen remodel.

I have previously submitted the scope of work with an outstanding review.
However, I am prompted to submit another review because of the great follow up provided by GMG Services.
Most contractors do the job and walk away.
Not these folks.
We had a few minor issues months after the job was complete that we discovered (an appliance didn't function as specified, a light fixture buzzed, the hot water in one of the showers didn't get hot enough, etc.).
Each time, and I mean each and every time -- keep in mind that the work was completed last summer -- they hopped to attention, came out, resolved the issues with no questions asked.
We have NEVER had a contractor this service oriented.
I have been so happy with their work, I'm keeping an eye on my budget to see if we can have them out again next year to do more work for us.
Their work is superlative!!!!!
