The work itself went really well. i was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was able to get an appointment. He sent Walter, who was extremely nice and professional. The installation was a little more than he originally expected because he had to do additional wiring, which involved patching and painting, but the price was still reasonable. He was very respectful of my schedule and the fact that I had a hard stop when I had to leave to pick up my kids from school. I was very happy with the work, and asked him to give me a quote on a few other projects. This is where I was surprised - I've never heard back from them. I would have though they would want the additional work, but I guess they weren't interested.

After not responding to my appointment request, stating that my email went to spam, I was finally able to confirm an appointment for the next week. Two gentlemen showed up, one was the owner and the other was the plumber. The plumber got right to work in the bathroom and the owner just kinda sat there. He ended up watching TV with me for a little bit and just kinda sat around as the plumber did all of the work. I checked in with the plumber periodically to see about progress, and he seemed to be doing OK. After they finished their repairs, the shower faucet seemed to be working properly but after the first use of the shower in the bathroom with the bathtub, the leak started again. We also noticed that the leaking shower diverter was still leaking. We thought we had been clear about what we needed, but we called them back anyway. When they came back the second time, both the plumber and the owner showed up again. The plumber got right to work and the owner, once again, just sat there watching him or talking to us. It was slightly awkward for him to just be sitting there and not actually working on anything. After another hour of work, they said they can't properly fix the faucet without replacing everything. I asked why they charged $275.00 per faucet last time without properly fixing it, but they had no answer. I probed to find out exactly what they did, and it turns out they only added a washer or two and didn't replace anything (As they did in the shower). They said if they tried, it could break since it seemed old. So they added another washer (or something minimal) which seemed to stop the drip, but advised us that it would likely start dripping again the next time we used the shower. So $550 got us one fixed leaking faucet, not two. We were not satisfied and will not use them again.
Description of Work: We needed to repair two dripping faucets in our bathrooms and repair a leaking shower diverter.

This story is short on the facts. These people were selling their home and wanted to spend as little as possible on it in order to make the highest possible profit on the sale. We told them from the very beginning that the mixer needed to be replaced. This is the part behind the shower wall which mixes hot and cold water into your shower head. She doesn't even mention this in her story. We ended up replacing the washers only because they weren't interested in spending the money to have it fixed properly. They then asked us to look at the faucet on the sink which had a similar issue. It was thirty or forty or more years old and needed to be replaced. We told her that and again not wanting to spend the necessary money to repair it right. Asked us to replace the washers only. So we did!!! She is being deceptive in her review just as they were deceptive in dealing with the new home buyers as they told us they were going to tell the new home buyers they had it fixed properly. They then asked us to give a warranty to the new home owner on the repair. Which we told them was not the appropriate fix in the first place. This review is simply a matter of her not wanting to spend any money at all on their home before they sold it. When for a few more dollars they could have done it right and then dealt in an honorable way with the people they sold the home to. We are a reputable company with hundreds of reviews speaking to our professionalism and our competence. When someone writes a review to challenge our honor we have to rely on those reviews and the fact that you are able to read between the lines when someone writes a review which is less than honest. As far as showing up and having two guys there, only one guy fit in that tiny little bathroom. Having someone show up who's in charge and able to answer questions speaks to the fact that we care about you.

Additionally, the $3,700 for the rush job over the holiday weekend was much more digestible than the $9,800 quoted by a different Angie's List company I received a quote from!

It went okay. I purchased the big deal because it was everything that I needed and it was fine. I just needed somebody to do the sewer thing. I think they were fine and they accepted the coupon right away. They were a local business and I didn’t have to get into calling a retailer that was too large. I think their price was reasonable. They came out within the day but they were late. They were so confused about the whole appointment. I remember calling them several times.

It went very well. John the owner was easy to work with and was very helpful with suggestions and recommendations. The workmen were friendly, courteous, ontime and did excellent work! I put 0 for the cost, because I don't remember the approximate cost and don't have the records with me to look it up. But it was reasonable as I had gotten a couple of other estimates from other companies.
Description of Work: This review is long overdue in submitting, but as I went back to Angie's List today to hunt for car servicing, I was reminded I had meant to do this review last year. We are so pleased with the work done to our house last fall. Every day I enjoy walking inside. My Hunny Do painted the upstairs master bedroom, the stairwell, and all of our downstairs, including painting over panelling in the family room. They also replaced a vanity sink -- it looks great!

I had an up-flush pump in my bathroom that stopped working. This looked like it had the potential to be a really dirty job, so I decided to let the professionals handle it. I have used MyHunnyDo before and have been very happy with their quality, professionalism, and punctuality. They did a fantastic job on this one as well, though the price was exceedingly high. They warned me that I would pay a premium for the potentially smelly work. It wound up being about $300 an hour. The onlyminor issue that I had was that there seemed to be no additional care taken to prepare for potential spills. There was a little dirty water spilled on the floor, and I provided some rags to clean it up. Needless to say, those went in the trash after that. In the end, the job was cleaned up very well, and the toilet and bathroom looked like new. Excellent work, though I will be seeking other bids in the future due to the price.

Thanks for the kind review and the positive feedback. We always try to keep towels on the truck to clean up a mess from a toilet like this. We try to always give the price up front. We are lower than, or comparable to other licensed plumbers in the area. Although the price may have seemed a bit high to you, you had a trained, courteous, uniformed, professional, come to your home to do a job that needed someone who knew what they were doing. We also aren't finished until it's done right.

See above UPDATE IN RESPONSE: The primary issue here is one of attention to detail. I explained to the contractor that there was a nearby outlet and that the instructions for the door specifically state that it could be wired to an existing outlet, even if that outlet is in use for light other other item, as the door draws very little power. The work is being finished as I speak by a very professional company - the work is perfect, and at 1/3 the cost - because that company took the time to read my request in detail and requested additional details so it could provide a reasonable estimate (to the penny - not a broad swipe of $1,500). I used to be in heavy construction - I know good work when I see it, and I also know a company who shoots only for the big/high profit work when I see it. I was disappointed here, and I stand by my review.
Description of Work: I asked for a quote for installing a small pet door in our exterior wall, including hooking up the wiring to an existing outlet (hard wired - not plugged in). I was pretty surprised, to say the least, to get a quote of $1,500 for the work. I have had a lot of work done on various parts of my house, and I am rarely shocked to get a quote - this one is out of scale to the work requested. I therefore will not be hiring My Hunny Do.

So this guy tells his own story of wanting a hole cut in the wall of his house and a pet door installed, with electric power run to it. Which would require running new wire, installing a new box. Opening a hole in the house, requires framing a new opening and then dealing with repairing, and sealing both the inner and outer surfaces and leaving them looking professionally finished. There may be many handymen who will do this job for less than the price we quoted. However you have to ask yourself to what level level will it be accomplished? Upon reading our reviews he decided he wanted it done by us. Cutting a wall, running electric is a project of a serious nature. We value our time and expertise at a high level. Not only that but we aren't finished until it's done right and looks professionally finished.

$500. I will never use this provider again. The plumber was almost an hour late arriving. When I called at the 20 minute mark I was told that I had provided an incorrect address. The address John said that I had provided -- which he took down by hand -- doesn't exist in Virginia. (I am curious as to where Google Maps directed him.) After another call I was told that the plumber was knocking on my door -- I live in a condo building and there is a call box at both doors. No one who lives in a secure building who will answer a knock at the lobby doors. $500. I called this provider about deals he was offering on Angie's List. I was curious about which denomination of deal I would have to purchase to cover the work I needed done. I outlined my requirements - faucet, disposal, snaking a drain and possible shower head replacement -- and John told me he would package everything together and give me a special price for it all. I literally gasped at the first price, and he brought it down to $500. I've never before had to purchase plumbing services for these basic fixes, so I may be somewhat out of touch with the going rates. But $500 feels highly excessive. The plumber left my house precisely an hour after he arrived and I called John to register my complaint. I had agreed upfront to $500, but made it known that the level of effort and time were incongruent to that amount. He is aware that I will be reviewing him here on Angie's List and look forward to his defense of his pricing.
Description of Work: The provider dispatched a plumber to my house to reinstall a kitchen faucet and disposal, plus snake a tub and consider a replacement shower head. (The shower head I bought did not fit.)

Replacing a garbage disposal $275 replacing a kitchen faucet $275 snaking a tub drain $275 discounted to $500 this client was discourteous and rude to us and still we discounted her project to less than what many other plumbers charge. She called me to tell me she would be placing a review, ( it was really to squeeze us for more discounts $$$ ) after she stated herself I had already given her deep discounts. She also stated we gave her the price up front and she agreed to it. Interesting to us how many people try to devalue the work that we do. If she felt she could have gotten this done by another company at a professional level and for less $$ I'm quite sure she would have done it. The fact is we are compatible with or lower than other licensed plumbers.
The plumber did a fine job. My only complaint about him was that when he called (20 minutes past the end of the window) to tell me he was delayed but on the way, he didn't mention that he was going to lunch first. He finally showed up about 1 1/2 hours later. Better communication would have been appreciated. Also, the owner had difficulty connecting me on the phone to me on Angie's list email which resulted in some confusion. Need better method to manage inquiries. As for price, I have nothing to compare it to so not sure if it's line or not. I bought a deal so I saved $80 which was good but it was still a lot of money. Not sure why plumbing should be this expensive. June 30-Update: A couple of weeks after the repair, I discovered that the outside faucet was no longer flush with the wall leaving a big gap and the pipe was moving around in the wall when I hooked up the hose. So I contacted the provider to request that they fix it. He stated that he asked me to look at it and I said it was ok but the putty was still on it and it wasn't until I hooked up the hose that I realized that the faucet was now protruding. He stated that I would have to pay a trip charge for him to come out and fix it. When I resisted that, he said he would waive that but if it needed more than just screws he would have to charge me for any additional work. I decided at that point to have a handyman who works for me fix it. I don't understand why it was left that way but it has now been fixed by another plumber who was doing another job for me. All that was required was two screws.

Thanks for choosing My Hunny Do. We have had some difficulties with communication with this customer. Angie's list doesn't always provide all info when purchasing deals. The best way to contact us is by phone. Replacing a broken pipe is a serious issue which requires a professional who knows what they're doing. The cost of this project is compatible or lower than what most plumbers charge with repairing a ruptured pipe and repairing a significant area of drywall.

Your electrical outlets were already painted over. We put two coats and sometimes three in places where you still weren't happy. Over spray is easily cleaned off of light fixtures and if brought to our attention always cleaned up. I walked the job with your husband at the end and he expressed satisfaction and paid us. Had we known you still weren't happy we would have continued to correct what was our responsibility. Your husband insulated us from you so I'm not sure why it wasn't expressed to us that you were this unhappy because we would have responded in some fashion to try to appease you.

The technician showed up as requested. He flushed the hot water heater. While he was there I had him look at a recently discovered leak. The technician then replaced a water line to the toilet. It was more expensive than I anticipated because they charged a lot for the flexible water pipe. But I opted to have him do it because he was on site and it was convenient to get it done. Overall I have no complaints. They arrived as promised and fixed everything.

Technician cleaned the hot water heater while explaining how to do maintenance on the unit. Confirmed that the system was in relatively good shape and that most likely the unit had quit functioning as a failsafe when it got too hot from too much sediment in the system. He gave us some options in the event that the unit continued to have problems; however, the hot water heater has worked fine since the service.

After a couple of attempts to schedule our service, the plumber came out (on time) to perform the work. Unlike another company's attempt to scare me into buying way more than I needed, HunnyDo got straight to the issue and gave a quote. Since I had already purchased a Big Deal from AngiesList, I was already kind of committed to using this company. All quotes I had received in the past for having a drain snaked (which takes all of 15 mins, btw) were less than $200. So with this $200 for $119 coupon, I thought it was already paid for. HunnyDo apparently charges $275 to snake a drain. I'm pretty sure the equipment costs less than that, but whatever. It would be nice to know standard prices before buying these kinds of coupons. The leaky faucet was another 15 minute fix. The plumber said that he'd done hundreds of washer replacements, and it would cost around $50-100. Once he was finished, I asked if it was $50 or $100, he said "no, I said $150-200." Ugh! For a simple fix?! The plumber was very professional and nice. He offered to cut down the price of the snake so that the coupon covered it, and charged me $150 for the faucet fix. All in all, it worked out. It cost me $269 out of pocket for $425 worth of work. I would use My Hunny Do again, because of their professionalism and no nonsense approach. Their prices, however, might make me think twice unless I had another coupon.

On the plumbing they did a nice job for me. It worked out fine. They tried to charge me something else I just refused to pay because I explained to the guy that came and why I should not have to pay anymore and then he had to put me on the phone with somebody else at the company and then finally they got to know I was right. I did not have to pay anything extra because of the big deal. Well I thought the guy was real nice and I do not have any leaks that's all I care about and it looks good. He did make a mess. I had a granite counter top from the kitchen that I did not want anymore so I had them make that into bathrooms counter-tops and so I needed him to come in and put the faucets in. The sink came with the counter tops. I thought the workmen did a good job.
Description of Work: I had new plumbing installed in a bathroom. One or two bathrooms I had new counter-tops put in so had to have somebody put the faucets in for me.

This lady got away with one on us. We are a licensed plumber. Our prices are lower than or commensurate with our competitors. We charge $275 to replace a faucet. Her coupon ($119 for $200 worth of service) paid for most not all of that.

Based on Angie's List reviews, it sounded like the best approach was to email My Hunny Do about a series of small home repair projects I had. I emailed them in the evening and received a reply the following day with a rough estimate based on my descriptions with a request for additional photos. The price sounded reasonable, even a little low. That evening I replied with the requested photos and to find out about scheduling the repair visit and to confirm the price. After waiting several days for a response, I emailed again as I had heard nothing back regarding scheduling. While John did reply several hours later, it was simply to say my job was too small for them to bother coming to handle the repairs. I am disappointed as I had hoped to use these small projects as a way to evaluate the company with the hope of larger known projects down the road. Recognize that unless you have a project/repairs with a large estimated cost, My Hunny Do is unlikely to be the right provider for you.

Response from Water Heater Man
This lady had sent us a list of repairs she wanted done. We gave prices for as much on the list as possible without seeing certain items. Turns out she wanted the smallest thing on her list done. She misquoted the price back to us that we originally gave and we decided the best course of action was simply not to do business with her. We are in business to earn a living, not to do small favors. If you have serious work small or not we are willing to help you with it. If you seem like your looking for the cheapest price for the smallest job she may be right we aren't the company you should come to. If you are willing to pay a fair price for the work we will help you with any small job and we have 200 other reviews that declare as much.
