We take our family dog to this group. The location is convenient and the people are very nice. Their pricing is a tad expensive but competitive with other groups in this area.

During our visit, I met our veterinarian, Dr. Henigan and the boarding manager, Jennifer. I haven't had a puppy in a while, but I also never remember receiving such a warm welcome to an animal hospital. The entire office staff is outwardly helpful, incredibly energetic and extremely passionate about animals and their care. For once, I have an animal excited to see the vet's office. I was so satisfied with the care I received during our first visit that I decided to purchase a "puppy care plan," or prepaid medical expense plan. On my last visit to pick up medication, I was reassured that the office would help me utilize the plan outside it's time limits. There may have been a change of veterinarians, or management since some of these reviews were written. I definitely encourage everyone in the area to check out this branch for an amazing vet experience. There's even a coupon for a free first physical exam on their website. There's no excuse, check them out!

After taking the blood sample, the techs brought him out to the waiting room with a dislocated hip. He was in great pain that kept getting worse over the next few days until we could get him to his holostic vet to get the inflammation down. A few days later, when I called VCA and left a message for the medical director so I could express our dismay to her, she did not return the phone call but had the vet who caused the problem in the first place call. She proceeded to minimize their role in causing the dislocation. The problem has persisted off and on since we brought him home in mid-December. He needs painkillers and a lot of attention and may ultimately need surgery to correct the problem. It is unbelievable to me that you take your dog in to give a blood sample and he comes out with a dislocated hip! We've been getting blood work done in advance of his trip to the veterinary dentist every six months for as along as I can remember and never had a problem until now -- and what a problem!!!

The staff were very nice at this cat hospital. However, we felt their prices were extremely expensive, and they pushed us to get tests and comprehensive exams that were expensive and may not have been necessary. We will not be using this vet again.

They had an exam consultation, rabies vaccines, other vaccines as well. The medical care was great. We were very pleased with the staff. They were very friendly and answered our questions. However, we thought price was extremely high! After speaking with other pet owners, I have came to the conclusion that this is pretty accurate for the first set of vaccinations. I just think, as a consumer, that you should be made aware of the prices ahead of time.

We've used VCA for three years, but we will never return - I guess there's a reason why the waiting room is always empty. It's the type of place that may be ok for routine shots, but not if your pet actually has a problem. We brought our cat in to be treated for a bite wound from another cat. The vet seemed unsure of herself, and the assistant corrected her twice. They operated on our cat to install a drainage tube. However, the drainage tube didn't seem stable, and I wasn't surprised when we had to return - but I was surprised that they charged us again for the second operation, for what seemed like their mistake. The place also has a fairly high turnover of vets, which is a cause for concern. The cost was huge. Our last vet charged $400 to remove an abscess; this vet charged $1200 (plus an extra 600 for the second operation when the tube hole became infected). They charge for every little thing - even for the little plastic cone for the cat's neck. You'll definitely want to scour the bill, as there will be overcharges throughout. My daughter went into the back room to say goodbye to our cat, as the operation was scheduled for the next morning. The vet and an assistant started gossiping about both my family and another patient in front of my daughter. My daughter was understandably upset. She's small for her age, and I guess they assumed she wouldn't understand. Very unprofessional. If you don't like breaking in new vets, people gossiping about you, or selling your assets to pay the bill, I'd stay away.

When we arrived, I started filling out paperwork. And then we waited.. 45 minutes after our appt time we finally saw the vet. I asked the vet if they normally ran that far behind schedule and she said no - they had a sick dog in the office and were trying to determine the best course of action. Once that was explained, I was feeling much more patient. Would suggest that the desk staff explain long waits to the clients so they don't think they are forgotten. The vet and technicians we saw were all very nice and seemed to have great ways/manner with the dogs. I feel comfortable leaving my dogs there for boarding next week. Also, if you look on their web site, they have a coupon for a free initial exam for up to two pets. I was able to use the coupon during this first exam so no exam fees for my two dogs! Just a fee for the fecal that was due for one of the pups.

Not so great. I received a referral to VCA Old Town from a co-worker who described them as "a responsible vetranarian." At our annual visit, they seemed hellbent on selling us heart worm//flea/tick medication for my three indoor cats that have never had any of these parasites. I was not surprised when then doc told us the older two cats would need dental work. (One is eight and one is 11.) However, I took in two active, happy cats on 06/11 and today (06/13) they are both miserable and not because of their mouths are sore. While the eleven year old's problems may be attributed to age and stress, (and cost be an additional $500 at the emergency facility today) the eight year old is having trouble walking. I believe he struggled at some point at the vet's and they hurt him while restraining him. I am going to have to take him to another vet and have him x-rayed because he can not walk properly 48 hours post-op. Someone at this office was overly rough with my animal. Find a different vet.

About the only thing we've been disappointed about more recently is the lack of professionalism among some of the front office staff. It sometimes seems you have to explain something 3 or 4 times to different people before anyone understands what you're saying. For more complicated medical issues, this is understandable, but for routine issues like prescription refills or scheduling appointments, this shouldn't be necessary. It's not universal, though; some of the staff are wonderful. We have spent most of the last 10 years overseas on assignments, but some of the staff recognize our dog by name when she comes in after years away. We feel like family here.

We were going out of town during doggie allergy season. My dog had several hot spots on his skin and had to wear an e-collar. We tried dropping him off at our intended kennel (Petsmart), only to find out that they would not let him wear the collar. This would have been devastating to his health, but they refused. We were on our way to the airport...what could we do??? The VCA Old Town people were GREAT. They were able to take him with 15 minutes notice! And there prices were very reasonable. I also like that they are a vet as well, in case anything goes wrong. We will never go elsewhere!

I easily scheduled an appointment with the vet of my choice at a time that was convenient for me. The staff greeted me when I arrived and were friendly. I was quickly shown to an examination room and had a normal wait for the vet. The vet conducted the exam, explained what she was doing and why and answered my questions. She pointed out some services that she thought I should consider (dental cleaning) without being pushy or making me feel as if I were not taking proper care of my pet. I had a short wait to pay my bill at the end. Again, the staff were friendly and courteous. They remebered me from previous visits and asked my how I was doing after the loss of another pet. A personal touch that I appreciated. It is this caring attitude along with the excellent care of my pets that has kept me going back to year after year, despite the fact that I perceive their services as being very exepensive when compared to other vetrinarian practices.

I switched to this clinic just recently because they have longer hours and they are very close to my house. They were able to accommodate me when I had an emergency with my dog. The staff is friendly and they are very nice to my dog.

Dr Reid and Dr Maclean were both really knowledgeable and explained our new dog's eye condition thoroughly. They patiently answered all our questions. They showed us how to clean his eyes and how to get the medicine (a thick goo) into his eye. They got us in quickly when it turned to an infection a week after the initial visit.

Dr. Mclean at Old Town Veterinary Hospital was wonderful. My cat was treated very well there. Their care was exceptional. I got in and out very quickly. I've been using them for 15 years and wouldn't go anywhere else.

They are very knowledgeable and caring. They are gentle with a great demeanor. I have been going to them for many years. They are very pricey but I like the head vet and she is familiar with my cats needs.
