Hiring Sydnye Pettingill for $100 an hour to assist me at every stage of an expensive home remodel was the smartest move I could have made. She responded beautifully to my desire to save on a piece of furniture or splurge on a counter top. Without her I simply would not have had to confidence to spend the right amount of money to achieve the best result, and I can definitively say that I am in awe of her abilities to judge space and recommend products (for example choosing a light fixture involved so much more than just the beauty and size of the piece--she would know how the light would create shadow, how the fixture would wear, whether there was a less expensive alternative and much much more). She was able to help me make countless decisions without pressure or motive. She brought good cheer, great talent and, again, CONFIDENCE to one faced with the daunting challenge of remaking a much-loved house. If you, like myself, have wondered why an interior designer should be a part of a remodeling project, you need to have Sydnye by your side for the day--she was worshiped by the contractor and crew for her flawless grasp of risks before they became problems and solutions that were out of the box. It was a pleasure to choose fabric or finishes, and in all this have my own taste approved and supported, and once in a great while reigned in. The whole business of this sort of life-altering exercise is exhausting, but with Sydnye by my side I enjoyed the work.
