Smart Wash, LLC

I hired Smart Wash to perform a "soft wash" of the exterior of my home, including the front and back porch/deck. I was not pleased with the result, particularly for the $620 price tag. Upon my return to the house on the day of the job, the exterior and porches had clearly been cleaned, but there was still some noticeable dirt and grime left untouched. In addition, and more disturbingly, it appears that Smart Wash did not cover the lock on my front door, my doorbell, or the narrow gap which surrounds the front door before spraying the door and walls with their cleaning solution. As a result, my wife and I returned home to discover that our keys no longer fit into the front door lock without getting stuck and we struggled to open the door. The door itself felt sticky against the door frame. Waiting for the lock to dry out didn't resolve the problem with the key and lock, so I ended up having to take a couple of hours off of work to purchase and install a new lock and get new keys cut. Our doorbell also became stuck and, owing to a preexisting small gap between the top of the doorbell and the wall and Smart Wash's apparent failure to cover it, we experienced a minor electrical issue (characterized by a buzzing from the interior doorbell box) that fortunately appears to have resolved itself. I emailed Smart Wash regarding these issues. The owner himself responded, which I appreciated, offering to lubricate the lock and check the door for signs of incomplete rinsing. I told him I had to change the lock so lubricating it was unnecessary. However, I'm not sure if the owner ever checked the door because he never followed up with me. I didn't necessarily expect a credit (which I did not receive) but the lack of an apology or expression of regret for the problems caused did take me by surprise. Honestly, I think I could have done much of what Smart Wash accomplished -- and without the trouble -- by spraying the house and porches myself with a garden hose.

Smart Wash did a great job! I contacted them initially for an estimate, and they got back to me within a few hours to let me know how much it would be. They sent over a form for us to review, and when we were ready to schedule the work, we just needed to click the online acceptance, and they scheduled us within the next two weeks. They were very good about communicating on what day they would be at our house and the window of time they would be arriving. They arrived on time, and the patio turned out really well. We had moss, mold and dirt from years of neglect, and I didn't look out until they were done, and I couldn't believe the results. The brick was so bright it almost looked brand new. We saw pictures on their website of their work, but we never thought our brick would turn out so well. We are very pleased with their work and service, and we would recommend them to anyone who needed this type of work completed.

The service provider arrived on the date and time agreed-upon and conducted all contracted work, listed above.  Of particular note, all gutter downspouts were affixed with traps to collect the effluent and debris being washed off the roof shingles.  The house simply 'gleamed'.

Excellent from start to finish.  Very good, clear & informative communication both on the phone and with the technician on site.  We had some algae streaks on the roof and they were removed.  The hardscapes were loaded with hard to scratch off moss and layers of ground-in dirt and looked pristine afterwards.  They showed us photos from up on the roof to indicate that key areas were in good condition and did not need repair.  (One of the worries with these kinds of firms is whether they will find "something" that requires extra cost...I believe this outfit is quite trustworthy.)  We did have them come back after I noticed that one streaky area recurred.  They came back, no argument, and re-treated the roof, but let us know the streak may be coming from our metal weathervane, rather than algae.  This seems to be the case.  Anyway, one other note and that they were able to provide an estimate over the phone by using Google Earth imagery to see the size of our roof area from above.  Very efficient and certainly a great use of the technology.

He removed all of the mold on our roof, which is a gabled roof, and cleaned out the gutters. It looks great.

I highly recommend Smart Wash. It was a relief to learn that I didn't have to replace my roof to get rid of all the ugly stains and moss growing on it.  Smart Wash was very affordable and did the work in a manner consistent with what my reading indicated roof manufacturers recommend, which is to use a soft wash & specialized cleaning fluid.  Now my roof looks like new.  The cleaners were professional, attentive and courteous.  They explained it all very clearly and were responsive to my concerns. They quickly got to work and were finished before lunch.  I was very pleased with the result.  They also did a great job power cleaning the cement surfaces.  (I also suspect an added benefit is that the air inside my house is healthier now since the accumulation of dirt and organic matter on the roof must affect the air quality in the area immediately around the exterior, although to what extent would probably depend on a variety of factors such as window & door locations, plants growing near the house and exterior surfaces' exposure to sunlight and other elements.)     

The roof looks like new - all of the moss and algae was removed.  The house looks great.  They showed up on time and left everything looking fresh and clean.

THIS COMPANY IS EXCELLENT. THEY KEPT COMING BACK UNYTIL ALL OF THE WHITE STUFF WAS OFF MY BRICKS. HOUSE LOOKS NEW.

We had just bought this house and knew the deck and roof would have to be tended to straight away. The difference the Smart Wash cleaning made in our roof was amazing.  The deck didn't come as clean as I would have liked, but I think the damage was pretty ingrained into the wood.  It's hard for me to judge as we never had a wooden deck before.  However, the roof was black (the actual shingles are light grey) and there was actually moss growing on the roof.  The roof itself was only about a dozen years old, but it was clear that it would have an early demise if something wasn't done.  When Smart Wash was done, all the mold and moss was gone and it looks new.  They use a system with chemicals and very low pressure, so no physical damage was done to the roof. Time will tell, but I believe this was well worth the money.

It went excellent. They showed up on time. There were no issues. The price was fair. They left my house in very condition.

Responded to my inquiry promptly, scheduled service promptly, and performed service as scheduled. Work done quickly and efficiently.

Everything went perfectly.  The outside of the house looks great, which is important because we're getting ready to sell it.   The guys came on time, worked strait through, and even did extra work.  It's not inexpensive, but for the amount of work they did made a huge difference.  And their cleaning of painted railings was so good, that we'll be saved on painters' bills.  All in all worth every bit of what we paid.  We HIGHLY recommend them!

Finding this service felt too easy to be true, especially after searching and calling many places. Working with Jon and Smart Wash was a great experience. When I called the business I spoke to a live person, not a voice mail and Jon returned my call that evening. Jon came to my home as scheduled, explained the process and addressed my concerns about my plants. There was no problem about the size of the job (since it is just a townhouse), no pressure to commit (which made me comfortable to do business with Jon), and the price was fair and competitive. Due to weather, they weren't able to come out the next day, but called me to let me know. Since it's November there aren't many good days to wash I anticipated the job being delayed until the spring, but Jon called me and was here as soon as there was break in the weather. Jon and his partner did the work themselves (no strange people I wouldn't have expected) and the process didn't drag on all day. I reviewed the work and clean up and was pleased at how good my house and front steps look. If you are looking for an efficient and honest business to clean your home's exterior I would recommend Smart Wash.

Brian, the co-owner of the business, arrived at the appointed hour and completed the job in about three hours. The roof looks as new with all stains removed.

I was a little skeptical.  Had been told that roof stains could not be safely cleaned.  SmartWash removed all mold/stains.  They have indicated the treatment will deter mold growth and (2) prolong the life of the roof.  I'm very impressed.

Like most in Virginia, my older brick home was covered with black mold (atop a 15-year old roof), lichen (under trees) and algae (on brick surfaces including steps). Brian and Jon removed it ALL. (Except for now-dead roof lichen which will take time to wash off naturally). Brian and Jon even rug-scrubber-like machined the black mold off my relatively new sidewalks.
I asked, and they were very careful to use low power wash on the roof, to prevent damage to the asphalt shingles, and on woodwork, to spare my recent paint work there. They also used eviron-friendly chemicals, taking care to bag the runoff from gutter spouts. Finally they treated plants and flowers with fertilizer to restore them.
Now my house looks brand, spanking new.  And there is a 5-year sliding warranty should the roof black mold return.  This is certainly more cost effective than getting a new roof, and everything else is clean!
