Rampante Vision

This designer/contractor over promised and under-delivered on condo renovation and design services, while exhibiting rude and bizarre behavior on top of cringe worthy arrogance.  First, everything was supposed to be completed in 10 days. After about a month delay, and with me showing great patience, I had to fire him after a serious altercation.  At the onset, the designs seemed promising but the execution was overall horrible with the exception of one river rock wall façade, some work on the balcony, constructing display cases, and installing new bathroom faucets.   But the good was far overshadowed by the bad and the almost criminal misrepresentation. Come to find out, the business isn't even properly licensed. Instead of hiring sub-contractors to do competent work, the contractor tried doing everything himself and cut corners as the delays mounted up.  For instance, he installed new wood flooring on top of the existing floor instead of properly removing the old floor. Everything will have to be removed. As if that wasn't bad enough, the doors wouldn't close properly so he shaved the bottom of them with a hand saw.
Thresholds weren't even attempted. Tiles he installed were done improperly.  The painting was atrocious with sloppy edges and paint drips everywhere. He attempted some drip cement façade on a support column which turned out terrible and will need to be
removed.  His work habits were atrocious.  He almost never cleaned up after himself, was chronically late, and ridiculously rude to building staff.  He also damaged almost every single piece of furniture by recklessly throwing tools and equipment around, showing almost no care.  The furniture he purchased for us, instead of being designer, was actually discount store items that he tried to pass off as high end, until the receipts were discovered.  When he was finally confronted, he became verbally abusive and almost violent.  Ironically, he ended up calling the police, accusing us of stealing his tools and a contract. The police were actually great and seemed bewildered by his bizarre behavior as much as we were. The only satisfaction I had was firing him in front of the police and having him escorted off of the premises.  I?ve had other contractors come by to survey the work?astonishment at the level of incompetence.  Needless to say, I will be spending a lot of money to repair what was supposed to be a complete turnkey solution.  Instead of everything turning out ?sharp?, as he was fond of saying, this has been a disaster and the worst contractor
experience I have ever had.
