 + -1 moreOverall, we were very pleased with Dr. Broome. We are also very happy with her nurse, who is easy to contact and very prompt with answers to any questions or concerns. Her nurse is extremely helpful with arranging appointments for blood draws and medications/injections, as well as helping us with her knowledge and resources dealing with insurance.We saw Dr. Broome at Georgetown University Hospital, which is not an easy commute, but worth it to get the best treatment in this area for my husband. The treatment is on-going and we do not know yet if the treatment will be successful, but we feel grateful that Dr. Broome and her staff are working with us and giving us hope that we were not getting in the past.
Description of Work: My husband was diagnosed with MDS two years ago and was seeing another Oncologist who seemed disinterested in exploring other treatments when the chemotherapy he was placed on was no longer effective. Our daughter researched and found Dr. Broome (Lombardi Cancer Center, Georgetown University Hospital) on the internet from an MDS Foundation site. She was described as the only MDS expert in this area of Northern Virginia. We were told that Dr. Broome was "booked" for a long period of time but that she would do all that she could to get us in to see her. She was as good as her word and we were able to get an appointment within a month of contacting her. She was very accommodating and NOT in a hurry, but listening to us and answering all of our questions with patience, even though there were 4 of us (2 grown daughters as well as my husband and myself) in the room. Dr. Broome gave us HOPE by explaining other options for treatment that were never mentioned by the other Oncologist.

 + -1 moreI had a prior history of blood clots and was very concerned about this one since the others led to two pulmonary embolisms. I didn't want to repeat that experience! Dr. Caffey was very, very professional. I got an appointment for the day after my phone call to his office. Imagine my surprise when I received a phone call from him at home at night even though we were to meet the next day. He was studying my history and researching possible solutions for me. He had a few questions and called me to talk about those questions before our appointment the next day! When I went in the next day, he had a plan already mapped out for me and was fabulous about explaining it and answering all my questions. His staff is fabulous, the nurses are wonderful, and the young lady that draws blood is a master! (Highly appreciated skill for someone who is a "difficult stick" like me.) You can not go wrong by choosing Dr. Caffey for your hematology needs.
Description of Work: I was referred to Dr. Caffey, one of the physicans in this practice, by my internal medicine doctor. I had developed a blood clot in one of the veins in my leg.

 + 0 moreI first saw Dr. Trivedi but I now see Dr. Caffey regularly. He's very professional and so friendly. He put me at ease immediately. When I found out I had severe anemia that required IV transfusions I was not looking forward to hours of sitting in a room with strangers for treatment. Marty and Karen are so friendly - they make the visits fun! I really enjoy this office. Oh - and the phlebotomist (I can't remember her name and I feel bad about that) has never, ever missed a vein. I have 'rolling veins' so I dread having blood drawn but not with her.
Description of Work: Testing for anemia, treatment of anemia and ongoing monitoring
