I chose this contractor because he was friends with the guy that did my kitchen. The guy that finished my kitchen was awesome.
I thought this contractor would also be good.
This contractor made an agreement to replace all of the windows in my house. He used single strength double pain glass. The glass makes a humming noise. He tried to blame my living next to Route 66, but the original double strength single pain windows didn't make that noise. Tried to come to a resolution with him. Ended up suing. Won a partial settlement because he came and recaulked the install. The caulk is still cracking to this day. I have constant leaks. He didn't insulate the windows. And the manufacturer won't service the warping frames because I sued the installer. The manufacturer says my warranty is voided because of the suit, but I didn't win agains the manufacturer. And I only won a partial suit because the manufacturer told the judge that my warranty wouldn't be voided. I also have cold air constantly leaking in from where a 2x2 wrapped in aluminum was installed with the windows. The caulk is constantly cracking. I can see clear through to the other side of the window because of the poor install. The installer said that the windows didn't need to be insulated by manufacturer specifications, but who doesn't insulate a window? During the contract writing process, I actually asked him to include insulation and the 2x2 for support and the specification with it. He said he considered that standard and didn't see the need to be it in the contract. I thought it would be okay because he's friends with the guy that did my kitchen. I figured they had the same level of integrity. The kitchen guy was great. This window guy was not.

Smitty returned my call quickly and came out to provide me with an estimate. He was very down to earth and easy to relate to. I felt comfortable with him in my home. He explained the installation process and widow information in a way, which I understood and felt at ease. His sales techniques were not pushy at all. Of the four estimates I got, Smitty's estimate was right on target, if not lower than most. What sold me was his attitude and promise that the work would be done on time and correctly. I was also impressed that he did not use sub contractors and employed his own crew full time. He under promised and over delivered. His full time crew came along with him. They replaced my windows and door in 2 days. More importantly, they cleaned up after themselves, so well that you would of never have known they were there. Truly a great experience!!!
