Absolutely the best around in their field! I never felt so comfortable and confident that the work I needed done -- taking down a tree next to the house, close to wires, with large limbs extending over the roof -- would be accomplished in such a timely and professional manner. Mr. Ed Moore is fantastic - dependable, fair, and honest - and his crew incredibly considerate and meticulous. Aside from the tree being gone, you would never have know they were here. You can't go wrong and I am confident you won't be disappointed in calling on Ed Moore and company for your tree service needs. Thank you Ed for your service -- greatly appreciated. I am one happy and completely satisfied customer.

We've been using them for the last several years.  They came out probably quicker than anybody else we could have gotten, and cleaned-up the mess.  We've been happy with this company.  They're pretty good on price.  We've had people come out and do estimates, and they always end up being very competitive.  They come out when they say they are going to.  They're good.

Mr. Moore came out and gave us our estimate, which was significantly higher than the one other estimate we got ($525).  However, I decided to go with Moore & Wright because Mr. Moore seemed much more knowledgeable and was able to give me some good advice on how to proceed.  I felt considerably more comfortable with them despite the additional cost.
My only reservation about Moore & Wright was they were not able to tell me approximately what time the work would be done on the scheduled date...  not even morning or afternoon...  so I had to be available all day.  Fortunately, the guys showed up around 10:00 AM or so and finished in about an hour and a half.
That being said, the workers were courteous, friendly, and did an excellent job.  I liked that they checked back with me before putting all of their equipment away to make sure I was satisfied with their work.  I am very happy with the results of their work and their clean-up, and would not hesitate to use them again.

These are the first few terms that come to mind:  Price, attitude, experience and quality equipment.  I had observed the work underway at my neighbor's home and been impressed with smooth flow of progress as huge trees were felled and removed.  Then a wide variety of less demanding services were performed.  One quality of true professionals is that they make the most demanding jobs seem nearly effortless.  Following my exchange with Mr. Wright, some of his crew arrived and took care of my requests in short order.  Everything was cleaned up and taken away (as it was at my neighbor's house) afterwards.

I should add that, on the same day, Mr. Wright accompanied me to another location to provide an estimate for tree removal work.  As expected, he was thoroughly professional and I have contracted Moore & Wright to perform this work as well.

It was a genuine pleasure to do business with this company.  My telephone conversations with their office staff were likewise pleasant.

This is the second time we have used Moore & Wright.  This experience was as great as the first.  Both jobs required a crane be placed in my neighbors driveway in order to reach the trees and remove them without hitting power lines or structures.  Great care was taken to protect the drive and any other items surrounding the job area.  Clean up was thorough and immediate.  A very professional operation - AND the only company that provided proof of insurance and license at the same time a written estimate was given.

We had four large pine trees and a very large maple tree in our back yard that we wanted to have removed to improve the appearance and let more light into the back yard.  We also had a dead branch on a tree ion the front yard that needed to be removed, as well as a large patch of ivy that we wanted to have ground up so that we could plant grass.   Mr Moore came out to the house on a Tuesday to see the work we wanted done so that he could provide a cost estimate.  By Friday, he provided the estimate with the cost broken down for each of the different tasks we wanted done, so that we could review to determine whether we wanted all the tasks performed at once, or wanted just some of the tasks based on the cost and our budget.
Based on previous tree removal work costing around $2000 for a single tree, we were expecting the estimate to come in at $10,000 or more.  We therefor expected to select only portions of the work in order to keep the cost below $10,000.  We were pleasantly surprised when the estimate came in at roughly $8500, and decided to have all the work done at once.  We approved all the work and were placed on the schedule for about a week and a half later.  Due to the extent of the work we were having done, we expected it to take several days.  It just goes to show that experienced workers with the proper tools make all the difference.  On a Thursday morning, they brought in a small crane, a portable wood chipper, and stump grinder.  By Thursday evening the five trees had been removed, ground up, and hauled away.  The stumps and roots had been ground, and the ivy partially ground.  On Friday they came and finished grinding the ivy and did a thorough clean-up.  We were very impressed with how well they cleaned up after removing the trees.  Our neighbors even commented that they were impressed to see the workers rake and sweep up the small amount of debris on their side of the fence

Moore and Wright did an outstanding job, and we are able to recommend them highly.

I am really happy with the service I got from Moore & Wright.  Several other tree companies said they couldn't remove the tree because it was too tall, too close to power lines, etc.  Moore & Wright did the job, did it cheaply compared to other estimates, and coordinated with Dominion Power on my behalf.

The crew was punctual and professional, and the office staff kept me informed of everything as the job date got closer.  The only minor hiccup was that the crew had to come twice -- the first time, they thought they could remove the tree without shutting the power off, but that turned out not to be the case.  So they rescheduled, coordinated with Dominion Power to get the power line de-energized, and came back -- all without charging me a dime more than originally estimated.

Moore & Wright is a professional, classy operation that will definitely be my first call for future tree work.

They were great. They gave us an Angie's List discount and a military discount on top of that. They were out the same day. They also had the best prices.

This is the second review for Moore & Wright this year. Earlier this year they did major work in the front and back yards. This time I was preparing for a major landscaping job and the landscaper said that the two huge gum trees were going to keep the grass from growing (and I hated those gums anyway). Also, one other tree and two of my neighbor's trees needed trimming to provide more sunlight for the landscaping. They were able to accommodate my schedule and do the work before the landscapers were due to arrive. Everything was done efficiently and without any problem with good cleanup. No drama, no surprises. Just got the work done.

Have a 70'+ silver maple in the front yard that hadn't been pruned in 4-5 years, but was also concerned about a huge limb overhanging the house. Ed did the estimate and said that the tree needed to be cut back about 30% and some strengthening cables installed.
In the back of the house is a large, overgrown wooded area that went wild over the last 20+ years. Two huge trees were leaning over the house and blocking all sun and needed to be removed, there was a dead tree to remove, and just a lot of clearing up of smaller trees and brush, old stone, a rotting decorative fence, etc.
Although we started the estimate process in February, the snows kept impeding the work. In March they came out to do the silver maple. There were four guys in the tree plus a guy on a cherry-picker and another couple guys clearing the cuttings. Big crew. I was amazed at the amount they cut back. They installed three of the supporting cables between the main branches but couldn't install the fourth as they were missing on connector. They finished that job when the came later to do the back. Tree looks great.
On 11 April they came to do the back. Started about 8:30 am with a crew of 3-4 guys, and many more came later. It needed a small Cat tractor, stump grinder, and they filled up two trucks with debris. Worked straight through until almost 5:00 pm. Quite a job.
Impressed with the results and will use them again.

This is the third time we have used Moore and Wright and they definitely provided "more done right" tree services each time.

For this visit we wanted at a minimum to remove the large and unstable pine tree that had the potential to block two of the neighboring driveways if it fell. We identified other trees for removal. The response to our initial call for an estimate was quick and we scheduled the estimate for 3 April. The office staff is excellent. This time we worked with Maggie but everyone we've talked to is great (Tina). Ed Moore provided the estimate. Ed arrived on time for the estimate. The pine tree was a definite removal. The other two trees needed removal as one was completely dead. He asked if the one tree had been hit by lighting due to the "exit wound" on the tree. The other tree was so overshadowed by other trees it was growing like the whomping willow.

There was also a fourth tree that we wanted removed which he did for no charge as it was an "easy" removal. I also asked if the crew  could remove four small trees (saplings) and take away two piles of fallen branches we had stockpiled to take to the dump. They removed those at no extra charge. The best part is that Mr. Moore provided a  verbal estimate but he came back about two hours later and asked if we had any problem with the crew doing the job the same afternoon. We also had an email with the estimate and their insurance information. We agreed and the crew started arriving about two in the afternoon. My husband and I were thinking they would just get the trees down and come back the next day to finish up. Wrong! These professionals had everything done, chipped, chopped and cleaned up in about 2.5 hours.

As for price, we think it is a good deal although we did not go with other estimates since we found Moore and Wright on Angie's List initially. What I do believe is that this company does not take advantage of people who are not tree experts by pushing for unnecessary removals of trees of branches. I asked specifically about removing lower branches from another tree. He explained why it was not a good idea and did not recommend removing the branches. Overall it is great dealing with people who know their business, enjoy sharing their knowledge and provide great service.

I was very confident with Mr. Moore's recommendations and thought the price he quoted was very fair, especially considering that my lot - with low hanging power lines - would be tricky to navigate. I received an email from his office just hours after I met with him to confirm the estimate and set the work date. The office called the day before to confirm and the crew arrived on time the next day. There was a small army of people working to prep the area with layers of plywood (to protect the driveway and yard) and perform the work. They have great equipment which seemed to make the job run very efficiently. Within just a few hours, four large trees were removed, three stumps were ground and branches trimmed back. As I told Mr. Moore when he called to check in later in the day, everything just looked so much better! And they cleaned everything up very well - no dirt, no leftover twigs. Just a fantastic job. Will definitely be calling them again in the future!

They did an excellent job. It was a little pricey at $1100 but it was a big tree.  My husband and I considered having a tree that had a branch hanging over our sunroof taken out as well, but we decided not to because the tree was healthy. Shortly after, the branch fell onto the sunroof, but this could not be predicted.

Top notch professionals, highly recommend to ANYONE that needs tree trim/removal service, no matter the size of the job. Ed is very personable and friendly and is reliable for coming out to see the job, giving price estimates, and getting the job done once a date has been set.

From first contact to day of completion, this company was pleasant, professional, and communicative.  The job estimate was provided promptly, and also included was a copy of their liability insurance documentation - without me having to ask.  My job required rescheduling several times due to weather, and I was always informed as to why this had to be done, and given options for reschedule dates.  On the day the trees were removed, Moore & Wright came early and worked non-stop.  I am certainly not an expert, but I believe this was a difficult job. The trees were large and the yard is sloped.  There was no "good" place to stage the removal on my property, so my neighbor's driveway was used for the crane.  They took extraordinary care and used extreme caution to insure that no damage was done to either home or the drive itself.  Simply excellent.

I live on an acre of woodland and had lost a number of huge trees throughout the years.  When the trees came down, I just had them cut into about two foot lengths and piled in the woods. The huge piles became unsightly. The guys at  Moore & Wright came out with big equipment to remove several huge piles. They arrived promptly, did great work, and cleaned up well after the job was completed. GREAT JOB!!!!!!
