In regard to Lapfix Inc.: Very unethical practices at this business. Patrons BEWARE! These thieving employees claimed to have “recycled” my very expensive MacBook Pro. Meaning there is no trace of it and it has been cannibalized for parts (probably sold). I live around the corner from the store and could have picked up the laptop had I received communication prior to said “recycling”. I’m in the IT field and know that these scumbag employees or possibly the owner himself simply took advantage of a customer forgetting they had their property at the location. I got no call, no replacement, no refurbished MacBook Pro to compensate me for my property and loss of data, nothing at all for my $3K MacBook Pro. I got nothing but the back of the Manager after he refused to assist me. I reached out to the owner, listed as Abdulkarim Hussen (listed as Principal) and go no callback or offer to make the situation right. This place is awful, operates under unethical business practices and cares nothing about the property of their patrons.
Response from LapFix Computer Repair Services

"[Member Name Removed] dropped off his laptop on May 17th 2021 (Yes, over a year ago). We contacted him with the diagnosis on May 18th 2021. On May 19th 2021 he requested to email him a quote (which we did). On May 27th 2021 we sent him a reminder via text. Two months later, on August 16th 2021 he responded that he will come and pick up his laptop. He has never contacted us since. He showed up on September 12th 2022 (after 1 year and 4 months) asking for his laptop which we moved to storage and eventually recycled per our policy. He did not contact us once during all this time to ask to keep his laptop. As a result he left us a 1 star review for failing to keep his laptop for One year and 4 months."

We would sum up this branch, as incompetent's and unprofessionalism, at its worst. We are a local IT office. In order to avoid any misunderstandings, we first called "LapFix" and described to them, very clearly, what had previously been checked on the laptop and what needed to be done, as a result we were told to send in our laptop. After filling all their paper work, we sent in the laptop, $60 Shipping and then we receive the following, "copy paste" default reply: "Thank you for your work order. Per our policy we do not work on boards or hard drives that have been already opened, worked on or attempt to repair. Thank you for your interest in our service. " Really?! Are these clowns insured or bonded, we hope so. We are looking forward to the $60 refund. Gary - "COMPU10"

Background: I have been building computers since 1989 and have owned almost every PC compatible computer since 1985 (e.g., PCjr, 286, 386SX, 386DX, 486SX, 486DX, 486DX2, 486DX4, Pentium, Pentium 2, Cyrix 6x86, etc.) However, since I now manage multi-billion dollar programs, I don't have the time to do board-level repairs, thus my experience with LapFix. What happened: I brought in an Alienware Alpha, specifically telling the LapFix staff that I already knew the problem was a blown capacitor on the motherboard and that I wanted them to diagnose the specific capacitor because others' proposed fixes of $350 for a new motherboard was too expensive. I asked for a range of costs and they refused to provide it, but since they had agreed to diagnose the specific capacitor, I left the machine with them to do the agreed upon work. When they contacted me later, they said "we can do a repair for the motherboard for $365," and refused to tell me what the specific problem was. When I asked them what diagnosis they performed on the computer, they refused to tell me, saying "we did some tests," and also refused to answer when I asked why they didn't perform the agreed-upon diagnosis. Even so, they held my computer hostage until I paid a $65 "diagnosis fee," and when I got the computer home I couldn't see any screwdriver or other marks which would indicate they had even opened the computer. If the business isn't prepared to do the service asked for, the business should refuse the work, as it is fraudulent and offensive to charge a diagnosis fee when the customer knows more about the problem than the person who "diagnosed" the machine.
Response from LapFix Computer Repair Services

"The customer dropped off his Alienware mini desktop that was not turning on. He told us when he dropped it off that he knew it was a blown capacitor that was causing an issue and wanted us to take a look at it. We provided the customer with a diagnosis and are capable of doing component level repair on it without replacing the board. The customer declined our offer to repair and we charged him $65 for the Diagnosis, which he agreed to when dropped off his computer. He also mentioned he went to another shop and they told him the same diagnosis for the same price. We are not sure why the customer came into our shop, let alone any computer shop if he already diagnosed his device, claiming he knows how to microsolder and fix his defective motherboard. He also copied and pasted his review on multiple other sites trying to hurt our rating."

My 7-year old SONY VAIO laptop has been a very dependable machine. But when I took it on a month's sabbatical and tried to connect it to a private modem and router (in the apartment where I stayed) -- with which it hadn't before had contact -- the laptop couldn't recognize any wifi signals even though they were present. No trouble-shooting seemed to work, and there were no geeks for hire anywhere near the small town where I was staying. So I borrowed a laptop for the duration of the trip from a nearby library -- and as soon as I returned home, took my laptop to LapFix. Eric at LapFix diagnosed the problem and recommended that a driver be installed to support the wifi function (if I'm recalling correctly his description). I authorized the repair and the following day the laptop was back in business, and they had cleaned the keyboard as well. I have confidence that they're the right guys to deal with any issue, however esoteric.

Lapfix gave me an estimate of $300 to retrieve the data. They said there would be no charge if they were unsuccessful. But they were! The process took a few weeks but I was happy to have the files again. I know this was a difficult fix. I'd certainly turn to them again!

They evaluated the problem and determined my connection port had been switched when the video card had been upgraded. Though it was a oversight on my part they performed a thorough evaluation...at no charge.

It went quite well. Karim completed the repair in less time than anticipated. He and Siham were a delight to work with. He spent quite a bit of time backing up my client's data, and for that additional service, he charged a very nominal amount - $95. I have sent many people to Lapfix over the years, and will continue to do so. Thank you Karim and Siham! Craig Herberg

I am an IT professional who used to repair my laptops before they become so compact and difficult to open. Sahim at Lapfix is fantastic. He is friendly, trustworthy, and was able to fix it, no problem after ordering some parts that needed to be replaced. I live in Cameron Station, so the location couldn't be better. I will never take my electronic devices anywhere else. Thank you Sahim!

Miracle workers! I bashed up the corner of my laptop so it was unusable. The technician was able to fix it so it looked and worked like new. The time and cost estimates were spot on. Would definitely come back for all my laptop repairs.

Amazing shop! Free diagnostic. Within 24 hours they called with an explanation of the problem and the cost for the fix. They are great at explaining the problem and the fix in a way that anyone can understand. Service was fast, inexpensive, and super friendly! Would definitely recommend and use again.

We've used Lapfix for 3 repairs in the past 2 years (at this location & at a previous location); all went well.  Courteous, knowledgeable, and able to handle both hardware & OS issues.  If you bring your own part, it can save a day or two.

I have a five year old Toshiba Satellite laptop with the Windows Vista operating system.  While performing routine file cleanup & procedures to improve system performance a restart was required, but that process could not be completed. Thus the start-up program could not be operated, etc.   In December 2014 my laptop had been taken into a well respected computer repair shop in Central Florida ?where I reside?but they were unable to determine what the problem was.

I delivered my laptop to LapFix Computers on 12/16/2014 asked them to examine it, diagnose the problem(s) and fix it if at all possible. They quickly identified the cause of the problem and resolved it. So I asked if they could determine why the system operation is so slow. They advised that there was only 2GB in RAM but it could be increased to 4 GB which was agreed to. When I retrieved the unit on 12/ 18/2014  $130 was paid for the OS repair and RAM upgrade.

On 12/27/2014, just before returning to Florida, an additional visit was made to LapFix to report a newly arisen problem --- the intermittent failure of the switch to turn the lap top on.   The technician said he would keep the unit, investigate the problem, repair it and mail the repaired machine to me.  Thereafter we discussed progress and other improvements such as replacement of the 250 GB hard drive with a Toshiba 500GB HDD.  For that they would also clone the new HDD to recover all data, programs, settings etc. from the old drive.  That and a new system board were installed.  Additional charges were made for the work performed, replacement parts and mailing of the laptop back to me.  My total cost was less than $300.  I received the refurbished machine via FedEx on 2/17/2015.   It now works like a new machine.

The LapFix folks are models of professional service. They're prompt, cordial and great listeners. They understand the consumer's needs without talking down to the customer. They give estimates up front and stick to them. They also recommend fixes you can do yourself to save money. In a profession of I.T. services where there are lots of gray areas and lots of and quot;one size fits alland quot; fixes, the Lapfix people give very personal attention and great service. Have worked with them now on on pc and two laptops. (On one of the laptops, the manufacturer said the only option was replacement, but Lapfix solved the problem. They're a delight to work with. We're really glad we discovered them.

This is my third repair experience with Lapfix over the past six months, and all have been positive experiences
and reasonably priced (and lt;100 dollars). Three month warranty on repairs. In this most recent case, the replacement video card Lapfix installed in our HP laptop turned out itself to be defective -- a common issue with some HP laptops -- but Lapfix offered to make it right or to simply transfer our data to another device.
