Deck Maintenance
The three-step process starts with him on his hands and knees scrubbing the deck with TSP and bleach, then he returns when the deck is 2 days dry and sands the entire surface with 2 different grits of sandpaper. This process is pretty messy so be prepared. He cleaned as he went but sawdust is naturally a floating mess.
He showed me places that would still generate splinters (though they are not nearly as bad as before) and which boards will have to be replaced in a few years.
The last step is the painting and he and his crew put two coats of the Sikken paint down. The deck is a second story deck and they were very careful of the patio and flowers that were directly below.
