Home Depot has it's place in the world, but good luck if you need to find someone that works there in that world.  I appreciate the prices, variety, and quantity of stock that they have at Home Depot.  I just hate when i have to ask someone to check something in the back cause they're out of it on the shelves.  I have to set up camp cause it takes so long.  I do my part too.  I look online to make sure if what I'm looking for is in stock.  I've stopped going all together if they say they have like 4 of something in stock, because it always ends up being 0 when i get there.  I go right after I look it up too.  It's not like i look it up and show up 3 weeks later.  Of course it'll be gone by then, but I go right away.  I don't hate Home Depot.  It's a good and helpful place.  I just feel that if there was a Lowe's nearby they would have some hustle with good competition.

The service was fast and reasonably priced. It was an easy process; they had a good selection of carpets. After we choose the carpet we wanted, we scheduled the appointment 3 weeks out to work with our move out date.

This Home Depot is awful!  We wanted them to measure a door.  At first, Home Depot could not get the information into their balky software, but assured us they finally had inputted the information and that the sub-contractor, the Level Co, would call us shortly.  After hearing nothing from the subcontractor, we finally called, and they left us a voice mail that they would be out either the next day or the day after that.  What kind of contractor does not give you a definite date????  After the 2 days more had passed without hearing from the Level Company, we called them him and he told us that he had been out to measure the previous day.  Having been home the entire day before, I knew this was not true.  So I called him and he said there were 2 customers with the last name in the same town and he had confused them.  Really????  When he finally arrived the next day he complained about how a free-measuring promo run by Home Depot had caused his work to back up.  He measured the door and told us he would transmit the information to Home Depot.  Several more days passed and no word from Home Depot!  So we went there.  he Home Depot representative, who was different than the representative we initially spoke with us, said she could not find our information in their database.  She finally found it in an email from the sub-contractor, complaining the whole time about how Home Depot did not have sufficient staff.  However, none of our previous information about what door we had selected was in their database.  I then asked for a printout of the information they had received from the sub-contractor, and the Home Depot representative told us she could not give it to us because if someone else relied upon their measurements and did the job wrong, Home Depot would be liable.  In effect, Home Depot is saying their measuring is unreliable.  Disgusted, we left.

I have mixed feelings about the purchases. They were out of quite a few common items that I wanted. For instance, some carpeting was out of stock and I had to wait 3 weeks to get it. I think the staffing was too thin. At times I had to wait for 20 minutes to get someone to help me. I do think that the store at Marrifield has better service. The staff was very helpful and friendly in most cases however. If it would not have been quite a bit further for me to drive, I would have gone to the Marrifield store.

Insulation
It went poorly. The estimator did not show a good understanding of what the various insulation techniques are. He recommended removing all the drywall and starting from scratch. This is unneccessary and costly. He push the very limited set of products that Home Depot offers to install. These limited set of products (batting and foil) were not appropriate for this situation. He also refused to use blown insulation behind the drywall. The estimate of $1300 was given for a solution that forced the use of batting in an area that would not have resulted in sufficient insulation.

THEY WERE A FINE COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH. I BOUGHT BOTH UNITS AND THEY WERE DELIVERED IN THE TIME FRAME THEY WERE PROMISED. I HAD NO TROUBLE WITH THE PURCHASE OF MY APPLIANCES.
