During the repair of the hard drive, the techs broke the pin from the mother board that the optical drive plugged into. After 3 months of back and forth, sending the computer to the geek squad offices out of state, the branch began to consider to replace the computer for their mistake...until they realized how expensive the computer was (over $3,000.00) and then said they wanted to try and come up with a different solution. They ended up telling me that the cable was all that was needed to fix the problem. Fast forward a couple of years and I took my laptop to a different repair shop for a RAM problem where they uncovered the "real" repair that was done...Best Buy Geek Squad jammed a piece of wadded paper into the clip to force the cable to stay attached to the motherboard. When I took it back to confront them of what was discovered, the attitude was one that suggested I was dishonest about what happened and not caring about what they did. As if I should be happy with them solving the problem. NEVER GO TO THEM TO REPAIR A COMPUTER AGAIN!

They did a good job on everything.  We just had to call them back one time for repositioning our cable box and hooking everything up on the correct power supply so that we could use one button to turn everything on and off.

The hard drive failed and the data had corrupted, but the Geek Squad was able to retrieve most of the data but it took a lot longer than what we expected.

Tech was more interested in getting in and out quickly than actually explaining. Had to call them back the second day. Second technician undid what first did, said I needed to buy a part and left.  Not sure what I actually paid for...

They scheduled 23 August home appointment to install the computer and transfer data from our old computer.  On that day, Geek Squad sent a technician who told us he was unqualified to both do the data transfer as well as setting up the computer - so he left without doing anything.  Geek Squad then rescheduled a "qualified" technician to come during the 8 am - noon timeframe on Sat, 27 Aug.  He didn't show up.  After calling at noon, we were told he cancelled because of weather (8 am - 12pm had no rain and after that was only rain).  Since we bought this new HP computer from Best Buy, HP now says they will be getting out of the business - great...we are rescheduled for next week  Beware of Geek Squad - they don't do what they promise.

They handled my problem over the line and they were excellent. So, it didn’t cost me anything. I wasn’t getting any sound in my TV and the cable seemed to be working fine because I was getting a picture and everything. I tried rebooting, but they told me to unplug and leave it for a long time. Whatever they suggested worked. The guy was very nice and helpful. There were a couple of problems. I think it was to do with the cable and the setting. I was very pleased. The service was free. The quality of his work was very good. He was very patient. I would definitely use their services in the future too.

The remote wasn't properly programed and they made three trips before getting it to work but not the way it should. They did not leave the disc for the computer or the connector cable, nor did they tell me how to program it when I asked. Over the last year they have quoted me prices of $100 and $149 for a service call to program it right. I then found out from the mgr that I could do it myself and Geek wanted $60 for a service call. The Geek manager in the store gave me his personal cell #. I was able to contact him once but he has not returned any calls since. I have talked to two supposedly store managers and both were of no help. They just got an employee to talk to me.

The guy came out, knew nothing about the camera or the software. I do not know any more now than I did before he got there. He knew that he was not familiar with the camera and still charged me for the service call.

We purchased a 4 year warranty when we bought the TV. When I called to tell them it was not working they said I had to bring the TV in. I loaded the TV up and took it in, then they said that they would have came out to the house. It took too long for the repair and I was not happy with how unorganized their records were. I will not purchase from Best Buy again.

My laptop is older and they asked me how much I had paid for the computer. They said it would cost more to do the repair than I had paid for it. They were honest and I chose not to do the virus clean up. They did not charge me for the diagnosis.

I just love Geek Squad! I love that I can talk to a real person. When they came they found some other problems, which they also solved. I have no complaints. Besides being very knowledgeable, I think they are cute with their double O thing. It just cracks me up.

I dropped off the laptop on 9/16 with a promise date of 10/1/06. I finally received the PC back on 10/29, after several calls and visits. During each call, they were "working on the unit now." Finally, the PC was ready 30 days after the promise date. During each call and visit, I noticed that the Computer Geeks desk inside of a Best Buy store just seemed to be overwhelmed with business. The reps were considerate, but clearly in a hurry to get to the next person or task. My phone calls were the same experience; long holds with brief and uninformative information. The PC definitely was repaired, but with a few glitches I fixed on my own after picking it up.

Scheduled an appointment when a cancellation provided me with an earlier date I accepted. However, the person never showed or called. I had to call 3 times and never was able to reach a supervisor. I was finally referred to corporate who only took info from me. There was never any return call as to what happened or what they could do to help. All reps were unwilling to rectify their mistake.
