We were very, very impressed with Fabio and his crew. He was extremely easy to work and made some small adjustments to the plan along the way. All done without impacting the cost or the amount of time. I've hired many contractors over the years for minor (less than 1K) and major (50K+) jobs and Flagstone & Brickworks ranks at the very top. I would hire them again in a New York minute!

Great. Flagstone patio looks terrific. Work was done on time and high quality. Workers were very nice and polite. Price was better than two other estimates. Clean-up was good, but not perfect; some dust, small rocks, were not picked up, not a big deal. Definitely would hire again or recommend.

Excellent result. Meno aims to please his customer and he closely supervised his team of 5. They did a quality job and were clean and timely. I especially appreciated his design ideas, pouring a good concrete base, using bluestone treads (including doing curved bullnose edges on the steps), cutting walkway borders, and installing the walkway and steps beautifully given the slope of the yard.

It went well. Some work was done, and due to a mutual miscalculation by both myself and vendor, it would not work, so the team redid the work to my complete satisfaction. The team was very professional and polite and easy to work with.

Meno and his guys are old school / old world artists. If you aren't using them for your masonry work then you will be calling them to fix your projects from the other companies. We are ecstatic with the work. The quality is second to none.   He is our masonry guy for life.

They were working on another home in the neighborhood, so I had a chance to see their work.  Solid work, with a good finish.  Contacted Meno, and he was able to come by within an hour and give me an estimate and small discount since his crew was already working across the street.
Brick work is done well, joints pointed up, and after a day of curing, steps were acid washed to clean off excess mortar.  Original bricks and mortar were used where ever possible.  A couple of new bricks had to be used, which don't quite match the original, but they were used in the corners where they aren't that noticeable.  In a year or two, they should be indistinguishable from the rest.
I'm happy with the quality, and it was done much cheaper than three previous estimates I had gotten.

Wonderful work by Meno and team at Flagstone & Brickworks! This was a sizable construction project so we got 4 bids. Meno was second to lowest in cost. We chose him because he saw our vision when he came out to give the estimate. He had suggestions to our plans and seemed to be very knowledgable. His price was right in the ballpark of what we expected to pay for this type of work in Northern Virginia.
His team did all the demolition of the existing work on day one. From there they started the framing. The flagstone was of good quality and the craftsmanship was top notch. Meno has a signature finish of bull nosing the edges of the flagstone stairs, and we continue to get compliments on it. Later, when we were getting bids from iron companies to put in the new railing, they all commented on the quality of the flagstone work.
If you're looking for a quality mason, call Meno Gennarione. Just be patient. He's not much of a paper guy, so you might think he's a bit scattered when he's giving you a bid. But he knows what he's doing and he comes through as promised on project dates. He is also very prompt at returning calls. Oh, and his crew is exceptionally tidy - cleaned up everyday on the job. The entire project took about 10 days total.

We were very impressed with the workmanship and professionalism of Flagstone & Brickworks. Meno Gennarione is easy to work with and knows his craft. He offers great work at a reasonable price. His crew cleaned up after themselves and did not damage any of the landscaping surrounding the steps and porch. The previous owners of our home had installed stone over a builder-grade concrete step. It was installed incorrectly and beginning to separate from the concrete step, creating a dangerous situation. Though we loved the look, we needed a surface that was safer and easy to maintain and blended with the house.
We will definitely contact Meno for our future brick work needs. We contacted this company as one of our last ditch efforts at finding a reasonable estimate for cost and timeliness. Most of the companies we contacted shook their heads at the DIY job and didn't seem to want to bother with what looked to be a small, yet tedious job. Meno was able to meet our needs (we needed the steps repaired within a month) and exceeded our expectations. Though he will respond to email, he seems more comfortable discussing your needs via telephone and is quick to answer and respond to inquiries.

We are delighted with our new walkway and enjoyed working with Meno Gennarione & his company Flagstone and Brickworks. Meno bid on our job and recommended several design options.  He hails from Naples, Italy and brings a strong sense of old word European craftsmanship to his work.  He listened to our wishes -- we wanted our flagstone to be primarily blue and also wanted the joint margins to be small -- he followed through on all requests.  His crew was professional and focussed.  We are very pleased with our new flagstone walkway and would highly recommend Flagstone & Brickworks.

He was superlative. His communication was excellent, clear, timely, and consistent. He went out of his way to make sure he understood what I wanted. Without being pushy he was very helpful.  He drove me around to see examples of the work he could do. He gave me the option to go to the stone yard to pick out my stone; I would recommend him very highly.

iMeno was great to work with.  When he saw the job for the first time he knew just how to make it look so much better.  He took someone else's flawed work and made it the best it could be without ripping everything out.  The captstones and threshold on the front porch look amazing!  He was on time, his workers were very nice, and they cleaned-up the site perfectly.  He also ran out and bought topsoil to put along the path where he straightened it out.  He definitely went above and beyond with a very great price.  My only regret is that I did not hire him from the beginning!

Meno "The Italian Guy" gave us a very good quote on repointing the mortar between the bricks in our front steps - seven courses of vertical bricks and facia.  Other companies planned to do only the areas that needed it; however Meno recommended doing all the joints, which was quite a bit of work.  They cut the mortar out of each joint and put in new cement.  Work was completed in one day with cleanup on the second day.  As an extra bonus, they also fixed some spots in my retaining wall.  They did a great job, and almost a year later there are no problems.   If there was an A+, I would give him that.  Give Meno a call if you need stonework

The responed quickly with an estimate, They started soon after signing the contract. they finished and cleaned up.  No issues were encountered.    Other contractors contacted were slow to non responsive, hence the slightly lower price rating.

The estimate quality of the others lead to the choice so I was not able to a adequately evaluate the price.

They did a great job!  Great crew; they cleaned up everything at the end of each work day.  They even power washed driveway oil spills from their truck.

Very responsive to changes and requests for further information on design options for patio steps from the house and also from back of patio to the yard.
True craftsmen who took pride in their work and attention to detail.
Very pleased with all aspects of the process.

I called and received an estimate from Flagstone & Brickworks within an hour or two of my call which was excellent and the work was scheduled a week later which was also great.  The estimate was half the cost of one given by a local nursery (who had expanded and re-done the pation in 2009). Workers arrived on schedule with the owner and they moved the dust and pavers to a location in the back as I had requested and nicely arranged it.

The owner however continued to mention how the current patio (which is beautiful and we love) was below par in stones and workmanship.  These comments were not necessary or appreciated, but he continued to bring this up wherever he could in the conversation.  When they completed the work, two of the flagstones were terribly wobbly.  I was instructed to wet the patio daily and stand on the stones to encourage them to stablize.  I called two days later to request they come out and adjust the wobbly stones, but the owner argued with me saying the only way to fix it was to use cement (The stones in our patio are not cemented, they are arranged on stone dust).  He asked me to wait a couple of weeks and if it hadn't fixed itself he did offer to come out and try to fix it using cement which I did not want. After waiting a few weeks, the problem was the same.  I finally fixed the stones myself by lifting them and rearranging the dust until they were stable which took about an hour to get it the way I wanted.  In the end the new area blends in perfectly and is exactly what we wanted, but I will not use Flagstone & Brickworks again nor recommend them.

Meno gave me an estimate on 19 October and said he'd get it done by the end of the week or the next (pending the weather).  We had quite a bit of rain, so they completed the work on 28 Oct.  Their work is beautiful!  They bullnosed the flagstones and the results are fabulous.  I couldn't have asked for a better job.  Pictures coming soon.  Definitely worth the price!!

Meno is an old world craftsman who has trained a crew of 3 to do things his way. His work is beautiful. He did not do the work himself but was on site several hours a day consulting with us and his crew to make sure work was done to his standards and our taste. The rest of the time he was out rounding up supplies and gving estimates. He does not seem to work on written estimates but does take notes. I ended up writing up our project with costs and showing it to him to make sure we agreed. On the other hand, he does not take any payment before he starts work . I think he spends so much time talking to and educating the customer that there are no misunderstandings.
