tl;dr, Fridge died; emergency-called an appliance repair guy in over his head; found E.Z. a night later and Eva promptly scheduled after 9pm; E.Z called with a time window when they said they would; Tyrone showed up in that window and efficiently fixed a 28 year old fridge. Context: 1.5 years in a house renovated in 1994 with a kitchen that appears to have largely been redone around 2012. I think the fridge is 10-ish years old. Situation/Troubleshooting: Monday night - Sub-Zero fridge stops cooling. Circuit breaker is on, but reset in case that would help. Confirm that the receptacle and electric line-in have power using an electric pen tester (Google and buy one if you don’t have one). Dig up ancient manual online, identify location of master power switch, and find that it’s stuck in the on position. Now 6pm-ish Monday night: Call 5-10 local appliance repair companies and get one (not E.Z. Refrigerator because they were unknown to me due to the search area of the map I was using) that says he’ll come out after hours. I provide brand name on the phone. We’re very appreciative in the moment because we’re hopeful we can save our food with a quick fix. I give the above context when he arrives. He comes and spends 45 minutes testing different parts of the fridge for an electrical current and says he can’t locate the thermostat, but he thinks he knows where it is and that’s the problem. I have texted him a link to the manual and repeatedly try to show him the electrical diagrams and part numbers that I’m finding. He’s somewhat disinterested and leaves after 45 minutes, saying something like, “I need to get the schematics.” I got the impression (rightly or wrongly) that he’d be back the next day and verbally told him/texted him that he’s need to talk to my wife the next day, providing both of them each other’s contact info. Tuesday: I’m off the grid the next day (Tuesday) until 5:30pm when I learn that last night’s repair guy never showed up and never responded to my wife’s inquiries. When I called, he said he contacted Sub-Zero and needed to contact someone else at Sub-Zero the following day (Wednesday). Juggling bath time with my toddler, I call Sub-Zero and they email me a few PDFs that are identical to pages in the manual I found/shared the previous night. I text links, page references, and details to the first appliance repair guy. He eventually says, “That’s what the other guy [at Sub-Zero] said and it’s a big challenge to get the part and it’s not gonna work for that Fridge.” He then shared a phone contact, saying, “Call this guy he’s an expert with subzero,” which implicitly says, “I had no idea what I was doing.” Timestamp: Tuesday, 7:47PM I put my toddler to bed and start a more diligent search of local company reviews that mention “sub-zero” to find a company with qualified people. I also tried Sub-Zero’s site, which listed E.Z. Refrigerator in Alexandria. I read some reviews and saw “Adrian,” which was a name I saw in glowing reviews dated 2014-2016 from a different company and “Eva.” Is it the same “Adrian”? I don’t know. It’s late, so I shoot them an email at exactly 9pm, assuming I’ll hear back in the morning. [EVA ENTERS THE CHAT] EVA, (CASUAL BOSS-VIBE), 9:05PM: What’s your address? ME, (SHOCKED), 9:15PM: [ADDRESS REDACTED] EVA, (FLOATING DOWN FROM THE HEAVENS), 9:29PM: Tech will call 8-9AM tomorrow with a 2-hr window. ME, (HOPEFUL AFTER SO MUCH HEARTBREAK), 9:33PM: Great! WEDNESDAY, 8:33AM E.Z. TECH (SHOWING UP): Be there 1-3. TEXT, 1:30PM: Tech in the way ME, 1:31PM: ETA? TECH PHONE CALL, 1:33PM: 5-10mins From there, Tyrone listened to what I had done, did his own troubleshooting, call one of his coworkers to identify the problem, and quickly fixed it. Scheduling was above and beyond what most repair companies do. Next morning initial contact happened when they said it would. Tech arrived when they said they would. Tech resolved the issue on the spot for an almost 3 decade old appliance when I was expecting at least a week wait for parts. Amazing customer service and demonstrated expertise on Sub-Zero fridges.

Perfectly! Shane was very punctual, professional and courteous. He explained the issue clearly and answered all our questions. Great guarantee on the part and his services as well. If you need Sub-Z service in DC, MD or VA we don't think you can go wrong with EZ Refregeration Service, Inc.

We've got an Asko ventless dryer that Chris from EZ has worked on multiple times (for multiple different problems; our entire condo building got a faulty batch because of a corner-cutting developer) and each time, he's managed to identify the problem and get it fixed relatively quickly. A++, would hire again.

Superb response and top quality work.  Good value for the money.
First, do not be put off by price being rated as GOOD.  I had no idea of the cost of an under counter refrigerator.  This was a small, Sub Zero unit under a wet bar.  Since it is completely enclosed at the sides and back, the only ventilation available for heat exchange is at the bottom of the unit.  A replacement unit would have been $2300.  (Surprised me too, when a full size kitchen refrigerator costs about the same.)  Repair cost included two trips, first to determine necessary repairs, second to install a new compressor.
This until was built in 1992 (and installed about that time I presume).  I've used it for 10 years, and this is the first problem.
EZ Refrigeration worked with me to accommodate a convenient time for both appointments.
Shane did the work on both trips, no assistance required.  Arrived promptly.  Determined cause, necessary parts and anticipated time to return.  Initial visit charge was applied to the total cost.
Once parts arrived, I was contacted for a convenient second repair visit.  Again, prompt, courteous and professional in all aspects.
Unit works like a champ.
I'd recommend him for any repair and I wouldn't hesitate to use him in the future.  I asked about future repairs on other refrigerator/freezer units and was told that currently, he works primarily on Sub Zero and Wolf equipment.  So, check the website to verify any changes to their service policy.  http://www.ezrefrigeration.com/contact-us.html  (I may replace all my appliances with SZ and Wolf just to have EZ Refrigeration fix them when they break!)
This was a great experience all the way around.  Found them on Angie's List and I'll give EZ Refrigeration again (but hopefully not for another 20 years).

My 12 year old Subzero wine cabinet was on the fritz.  Other service providers estimated over $800 to fix it naming the compressor as the culprit, and then never came back to fist it.  EZ came out the same week, fixed it on the spot, and recognized that the trouble was not the compressor at all, but something far less costly.
They were courteous, careful, polite, speedy, etc. etc. etc.  Can't say enough good about them!

It was great.  We got an appointment in 24 hours.  Shane came on time.  He was knowledgeable, polite, and entirely professional.  As they had fixed an issue with our other sub-zero less than 90 days before he refused to charge us for the service call even though that was entirely unrelated.  I told him he should charge us the full price but he refused.  Great guy and company.  We wish all contractors were this good

Serviceman Chris was extremely professional. Our ASKO dryer need to be serviced. He took the time to ensure everything was working and as it turned out only needed a minor adjustment. We also needed to have a door gasket replaced on our Uline ice-maker which was completed in less than 5 minutes. I thought the price was fair including a 90 day no charge return warranty if the same issue occurred. I would definitely recommend and will use this company in the future.

I don't think I be more pleased with a service provider than with my experience with EZ Refrigeration! We moved into a home to discover that the freezer was only getting to 45 degrees. I called another repair company (used by the previous owners of the house) and they could not come out to the house for two days. I got an estimate from them but waited for two weeks to get a status (they never called me, I had to call them 3 times to find out that the status was and quot;pending.and quot;). So I finally called EZ Refrigeration on a Friday morning and explained my situation. They came out within a couple of hours and called me back in the afternoon with a location and shipping status for the required parts. Their customer service was outstanding. The repair was planned for the following Wednesday. They called me on Monday and said that they thought the parts might arrive later in the day, since the latest status showed them in Richmond. and quot;Would Tuesday work for you to fix the freezer?and quot; Absolutely! They exceeded my expectations in every way. The worn-out parts were under warranty so the charge was for labor only. And it was a fair charge for the time required to complete the job. Professional. Courtesy. Timely. And helpful (they explained the operation and maintenance of other appliances in our home).

The exhaust fan on our Wolf island hood quit working. Then, after the power outage in August, our undercounter wine refrigerator also went out. It was not easy finding a company that works on Sub-Zeros and Wolfs, so I called the manufacturer, and they recommended EZ Refrigeration. I could not have been more pleased with the service. I was given a date, and Shane and his colleague were punctual and professional. In order to work on the hood, they needed to find the circuit breaker attached to the hood, and our breakers were mismarked. They were patient and helped identify the correct breaker, and fixed the hood in no time. I thought the labor charge was infinitely reasonable given the amount of extra time they took, since I didn't have the correct breaker identified. They also ordered new knobs for our hood, which we had been unable to find anywhere online or in hardware stores.
Shane also identified the problem with the wine refrigerator quickly (as he had seen the issue in other coolers of that vintage), and needed to order a part and take it back to the shop to fix. He waited until the part came in to his shop before coming back to remove the refrigerator, in order to minimize the time we had a hole in the kitchen cabinets. The refrigerator has been fixed and is working well. Although not cheap, the cost was reasonable and well worth it, given the age of the appliance and the replacement cost of an under-counter refrigerator.
I would highly recommend this vendor, and will not hesitate to call them again should the need arise.

Shane arrived on time and repaired the hinge. I was charged $75 for "technical service time" and $80 for the service charge. Seems pricey but it was a safety issue and I needed it fixed.

Technician arrived well within the two hour appointment window and performed diagnostics. Since we had a long discontinued U-Line model, he had to order the parts. The technician indicated it would take 4 or 5 buisness days to get the parts in and they would call to schedule installation. Subsequent to the this initial visit, the Jun 29 storm hit and while we were very fortunate not to have lost power for any lengthy period of time, we lost and quot;all communicationsand quot; (phone and internet) with the outside world for about 10 days. EZ Refrigeration also lost their phones but had an alternate number on their voice mail (a cell phone number).
I contacted the office via cell phone once we had cell phone service to our area restored; the part had been ordered and delivered and we agreed to schedule the second service call once we both had our telephone and quot;land linesand quot; back in service. I called them late last week and they were able to schedule an appointment for today, Monday, 16 Jul.
Technician again arrived well within the two hour appointment window and had completed the parts installation and quick test to ensure all was operational within 45 minutes.
There was no charge for the initial service visit (since the part had to be ordered) and the final cost was well within my expectations given we have a discontinued U-Line model.

EZ Refrigeration was able to order the part without having to make a "diagnostic" visit, which one other authorized service provider wanted to do. I was able to provide the model and serial number information for EZ Refrigeration, and just had to wait several weeks for them to receive the part. Eva scheduled the repair and kept me informed about the time of day the technician was going to arrive. Shane (owner/technician) arrived and completed the repair promptly. The labor charge was reasonable. Initially, I was particularly critical because Shane dropped the broken cooktop as he was leaving, leaving a few small dents in our wood floor. Acknowledging that was purely an accident for which Shane took full responsibility, I was overly critical and rated this firm lower than now, which was not really fair to the firm.

The owner/technician (Shane) arrived on time and did a very professional job of the repair. He explained to me what the problem was, why it occurred, and the remedy. He did the repair quickly and efficiently. While he was there he fixed two minor problems that were not part of the original service request, at no additional charge. I am very happy with everything about this service call. I had to wait a couple of days to get on his schedule, but Shane was away at Sub-Zero factory training, which is a good thing and something I was willing to accept a delay for.

U called EZ Refrigeration because they are one of the few in the DC/MD/VA area who service U-Line under-the-counter fridges. Setting up an appointment with them was easy. The person on the phone was pleasant and professional. They were able to give me an appointment for the day I was able to be at home, and told me that the technician would call by 8:30 am to give me a 2 hour window when he would arrive at my place. They informed me the service charge for the technician's visit was $75 with additional charges every 15 minutes. On the appointed day, the tech called by 8:30 and gave us a window of 11-1. He arrived at 12:45. Took him about 30 mins to diagnose the problem and execute a quick fix (splicing a wire and securing it). Since he did not have a new wire to replace it with he could not do a complete repair, but he did explain what that would involve. Since that would mean another visit, much more work and a lot more cost we decided to take a decision on that the next time we had a problem with the fridge)Overall, I felt satisfied with the service we received from EZ. The charge was the $75 service fee plus $30 for the labor. I suppose that is not a bad price for the service. There might be lower-cost options, but probably not if you have a U-Line fridge--another U-line repair service I phoned for information would have charged $120 minimum for the service.
