I saw an add on Craigslist for air duct cleaning services for $65 for one main duct with FREE dryer vent cleaning included. Sounded like a good deal. When I called, the woman who answered, Ashley, asked about the size of my home and assured me that, based on the size, it should not be more than $65, as most condos only have one main duct. When the technician arrived (2 HOURS LATE!), he went through my home and told me there were TWO main ducts, so the cost would be $130. Based on his story about all the "problems" I had with mold and mildew, the total he gave me was $330!!! He also DID NOT COMPLETE THE WORK and did not clean the dryer duct. Long story short, this was the WORSE HOME SERVICES EXPERIENCE I've ever had. The work was supposed to be done on a Wednesday, but because the technician was so late, he had to come back on a Saturday. I asked the technician (named Valentin from Estonia) if he was going to cover my furniture before cleaning the air vents. He assured me there was no need, as they used "high pressured air" and there was no debris. After going through the house, I found DEBRIS ON EVERYTHING, my tables, my floor, my bed!!!. The technician didn't even remove the register covers and only used a machine that (as aptly described by the previous reviewer) looked like a bug sprayer! Worst of all, the technician DAMAGED MY HOME!!! After taking the furnace apart, he placed the motor in the hallway bathroom directly across from the furnace. Unbeknownst to me, he did not put down sufficient padding/material to protect the floor. As soon as he left, I went through the house to vacuum up the debris. When I got to the bathroom, I noticed several black marks on my brand new ceramic tile floor and several gouges in the drywall where he had placed the motor. I immediately called him back on his mobile phone. Although I expected he would not do anything, he surprised me and came right back. He claimed that he saw the marks on the floor, but thought they were already there. I assured him that the floor was brand new (had been installed less than 3 months earlier and I'd had my housekeeper out to clean less than a week before) and was spotless. He then took photos with his phone and assured me that, although I'd been unable to remove the stains with bleach, he had a solvent that would "take care of it" --- even though the black marks (most likely oil) had seeped into the grout! He also expressed "concern" about the drywall, but assured me the company had someone whose job it was to repair such damage. He said they were insured and were a "nationwide company," even though every man I spoke with on the phone had a Russian/Eastern European accent! He then attempted to call someone about the problems, but unable to reach anyone (if he called anyone at all, because he did not leave a message), he told me that someone would call me on Monday (2 days later) to set up an appt to repair the drywall and clean the floor. He even went as far as to ask me if I had the wall and trim paint so it could be used when they came back out to make the repairs. On Monday, when no one called, I called to find out when someone would be at my home. No one answered, so I left a voicemail message. I also sent Valentin a text message, advising him that I needed to know when they were coming. No return call. The following day, Tuesday, I called again. No answer. Left message. On Wednesday and Thursday, I called and again, they did not answer. They obviously knew my number from caller ID and refused to answer. On Friday, July 20, I called and hid my number. Their receptionist, Ashley, answered with trepidation and just answered with "hello," not even identifying the company, like this had happened to them before!. I identified myself and asked why no one had shown up on Monday. She apologized and assured me someone would be at my home THAT DAY between 5-7PM. Of course, no one showed up again and each time I tried to call, they did not answer. Today, 9 days after the work, I found a flood of water in my hallway under the furnace. I called an HVAC company and after telling them I'd just had vents cleaned, I was told that this is something that they've seen when the air duct company doesn't perform the work properly and it causes condensation to back up and overflow. In essence, THIS COMPANY DAMAGED MY HOME, REFUSED TO COME BACK OUT TO REPAIR THE WORK, DID NOT COMPLETE THE DRYER DUCT CLEANING, AND PERFORMED WORK SO POORLY THAT IT RESULTED IN ADDITIONAL DAMAGES TO MY FURNACE, FLOOR, CARPET AND RUG. I have given them ample opportunity to rectify the damages, but this fly-by-night company refuses to even answer the phone and will not return my calls. Lucky for me (unlucky for them), there are courts to resolve such matters. Initially, I only wanted them to come back and repair the damage. At this point, the damages have multiplied and they are solely liable. I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE.
