DEL RAY PAINTING

Billy is an unlicensed, untrustworthy, painter. He took my 50% deposit (mar 2021) and took so long getting to my job that I had to hire another painter, and then he would not return my deposit. I even offered him a payment plan. So now we’re going to court ( july 2022) in just a few days and I know he’s not going to show up. Do research on him and you will see that he has had many judgments against him. Just don’t hire him. There are many other credible painters out there.

It was great.  We had a few delays due to weather, but the company kept us informed and made every effort to set up new appointments around our schedule.  We left the key and let them do their thing... awsome experience!

First-class work. Billy Humphries (the owner) and his crew do thorough prep and pay attention to details. He's a responsive professional who listens carefully to the client, makes good suggestions, proposes alternatives if needed, and delivers what he promises on schedule.  I am an absenteee landlord who lives on the other side of the country, and he did the job within 10 days of me contacting him when I was visiting the townhouse. He even gave me a ride in his truck to a lunch meeting when I couldn't find my car keys! I used him for this task because in 2007, he did an outstanding job painting the inside of the townhouse after tenants and their cat had damaged it -- four years later, it still looks great. (On that 2007 job, he painted walls and trim, plus put sealer on all the floors, including the basement, to help get rid of the cat urine odor.)  

We are getting the house ready for sale, so everything had to be painted, exterior ($7,500) and interior ($8,500), plus Billy was kind enough to paint the patio furniture and some walls in the basement as well. He saved us from a paint color recommended by our stager (lightning bolt yellow) and convinced her to agree to a more subdued beige. He and his guys were great. They moved all the furniture around as needed (including the king size bed from one bedroom to another), put the old window airconditioners out on the curb for us, and even helped us move some furniture out for a yard sale. The interior painting was really difficult, because the interior hadn't been painted in 30 years. They were flexible and worked around our schedule, doing one room at a time as we gradually got the house decluttered. They became almost part of the family and we were sorry to see them go (although relieved to have our house back.) Billy also did several additional things for us (told us that one of our windows didn't have a storm window, and installed it for us), and recommended a local landscaper. Since he knew we were having multiple yard sales, he came back after we were done with storing furniture on the porch and gave it a second coat. He is very conscientious and is always there checking on the work done by his guys. I highly recommend Billy and Del Ray Painting.

Billy and his guys did an incredible job restoring the surface of our old house. The care and detail work are really amazing. Hardly a day goes by that we don't get a complement on the house. Billy is extremely knowledgeable and helpful in getting a great looking and durable (I think) finished product. The one negative I have to say is that it took several calls to get him to come over and price and then start the job. I had heard this was the case from his previous clients but they were also very happy with the finished product.

Billy Humphreys (owner) did excellent work. He was at my house each day along with 2 - 3 of his workers. I had my cedar shingle house and white picket fence painted. They were extremely thorough by powerwashing, scraping, sanding, spot priming and caulking. I've never had a painter be so thorough. They also cleaned up a bunch of unsightly wires I had outside, partly by removing the roof antenna which I never used. I had also scheduled a gutter company (Katchmark) to put up new gutters after the paint job. Billy removed my old gutters so that he could paint the wood before the new gutters went up (his idea). He also powerwashed my back wood stoop. I'm really glad I used this company and I will use him again. Oh and he doesn't advertise since a lot of his business comes from referrals.

Del Ray did an excellent job painting my new home. They came out right away for an estimate after my first inquiring call and were able to perform the job within two weeks. The crew was clean, professional and surprisingly quiet! They were able to patch a few holes in plaster and drywall from other contractors and paint right over it without ever knowing the patch work was done. They even did a few extras - painted some closets that I didn't ask them to and were very careful to paint cleanly and make no mess or spots on my newly refinished hardwood floors!

We are very pleased. It took a while to get to the point of getting a final estimate and for him to be able to start the work but that was not a problem. By his reputation Billy Humphreys is a conscientious craftsman and that proved true. He attacked the project, with his 3 painters, in a deliberate and well thought out way. He sequenced the project elements as it made the most sense. He did an excellent job of repairing rotted trim sections that looked as good as new, as he said it would. The work on the shingles entailed considerable effort, many return trips to caused by the general contractor who misjudged the shingle order several times, and a lot of delay. All the while Billy returned, in between other jobs, to spray the singles (both sides). The carpenters made a mess of the painted trim surfaces and some shingles and Billy returned without prompting to do touch up work. We found him to be more than fair and trustworthy when it came to pricing the extra work.

We were delayed a bit because of the cold weather, but after they started, Del Ray was finished in three days. It went very well.

Very pleased overall with the experience and the quality of the work done. Billy was responsive, flexible, and presented a very professional attitude. He obviously cares about his work and professional reputation, and it shows.

There was a lot of repair work involved. They were prompt and professional. The owner, Billy, is a pleasure to work with, I would use him again

It took two days for the crew to do the prep work and it really paid off. The crew was polite and they cleaned up after themselves each day. The price was fair however I really don't remember the total.

The paint is beautiful. The attention to detail by the crew is exceptional! The painters were extremely professional in their handiwork, their work ethic, and their interactions with the homeowners. Over a multi-day project, the crew left the site very clean at the end of each day and made it clear what would happen the next day. The owner accommodated a very tight schedule imposed by other activities going on with the addition and made sure that the job was done right and on time. The owner was also very helpful in advising on what colors should be used on what sections of a complicated ceiling angle/beam configuration. The original estimate was the final cost.

I can't rave enough about how fantastic Billy and his crew were. They were a PLEASURE to work with. Was always on time, did MORE then the work quoted. We really appreciated when he did a few small things, like stain the closet coat rod. The walls looked wonderful when they were done. I'll never use another painter, he has my business for life!

Timely, courteous and a steal at the price. Always arrived on time. They plainly thought through all potential problems beforehand and gave excellent suggestions for their resolution. They even performed some handyman work needed before painting, which our handyman had failed to perform on time. They left worksite clean and orderly every day. They bent over backwards to see that we were pleased with the work. Recommended.
