A circuit blew someplace in our basement ceiling just before the holidays when we had family on the way. The circuit controlled the downstairs lights (where our guests sleep) and the downstairs bathroom. I called several electricians, and got a couple of noncommittal responses, before reaching Kari at Cullen. She gave me a verbal commitment to have Joe come that day (two days before Christmas). He came that afternoon and when he realized the problem would take longer than expected to resolve, he created a temporary fix that carried us through the holiday, then came back to complete the work. 
 It was a tricky issue in an old house, and he stayed until 7:30 in the evening on a snowy day to resolve the problem without causing major damage to our ceiling. Joe was unfailingly professional and polite, taking time to explain the problem and our options and calling after hours to ensure that the temporary fix was working over the holiday. 
Ultimately, the issue was completely resolved with a minimum of damage/disruption to the house, and well under budget. Would hire again and recommend to anyone without hesitation.

We had a full perimeter French drain and two sump pumps installed and needed an electrician to run wires for two dedicated circuits and install outlets for the sump pumps. Cullen Electric is located in our area of Alexandria South and we had used them before for electrical work. As anticipated, Joe Cullen did a skilled, conscientious job of threading the wiring for the two circuits and installing the two outlets. He also installed an new outlet for our gas dryer. Kari Cullen was very courteous and professional in scheduling the installation visit as well as processing the electrical permit and setting up the county inspection. A great job all around.

Went great. They worked with us on this DIY project. All work was done professionally, timely and on budget. Easy to work with and assisted with the permitting process from start to finish.

Joe Cullen is an excellent electrician. He showed up exactly on time. He was very meticulous and took great care not to damage our ceiling when replacing old recessed light canisters in our kitchen that had been painted over and were stuck to the ceiling. He also noticed that our 2-way switch in the kitchen was not wired correctly and quickly fixed the problem.
We will be calling Joe for all our future electrical needs.

As always, Joe does an excellent job. We've used Cullen Electric several times over the past 5 years for small and large jobs (i.e, attic fan installation, ceiling fan installation, outside security lighting (large job), underc abinet lighting, etc) and all of Joe's work is excellent. From start to finish, this is a company we will continue to use. They are responsive, professional and do the work extremely well. If there is an issue, they are easy to deal with and responsive. I recommend them highly.

Called company to discuss home electrical problems and obtain an estimate. Very professional and friendly; provided clear outline of costs and possible solutions. I scheduled work for 9/20. Cullen Electrics has done other work for us in the past, notably rewiring our sitting room and dining room to add 2 central light fixtures plus a total of 9 recessed lights for artwork which took 2 days. Joe is always professional, courteous, and tidy. Electrical work is not something I like to pay bargain prices for as it is not worth the risk. With Cullens you pay for a professional job and it is quality work. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

When calling, Keri was wonderful to speak with and was quick to respond to my concerns.I appreciated the electrician, Joe, calling ahead of time to confirm exactly when he was arriving within the established appointment window. He was very personable and professional and stayed focused on completing the job in a timely manner. Because of poor wiring done by the previous owner there wasn't any rhyme or reason to how the outlets and lights were connected. Joe traced each outlet to find and repair the problem. In addition, he found other problems with reverse polarity and incorrect wiring and fixed those as well. I highly recommend Cullen Electric. They did a wonderful job!

The guy explained to me my options, listened to what I need, suggested the type of outlet and covers, did the job quickly and it was very close to the estimate. It went fine once I swallowed the idea that 4 hours and materials would cost so much. It cost more to connect the two woodworking machines, than the machines themselves. When did trades people start making $120.00 an hour?

He is phenominal! He is not the cheapest guy, but his work is definately worth the extra money. He is a perfectionist when it comes to electrical work.

Joe took 2 days. Two of the outlets were run through the attic, went outside, and back in where the circuit box was located. This included the meter box on the outside and new cables between. This is a mom and pop business, Joe is the only electrician and Kari does the scheduling. Joe is a pro, has all the tools, all the knowledge and treats you as if he was working on his own home. No detail is too small, like pinning back a rose vine so it would not get damaged.

It was a very quick job, done in about an hour. The electrician was very knowledgeable and even gave me some advice about my flooring. They were a bit slow to respond to my requests for a quote however, but that's the only negative. I would definitely use them again.
