 + -1 moreI took the drawing, a work of my great-great-grandmother, to Ms. Smith on June 9,2007,by appointment. She examined it briefly in the frame, telling me everything she saw. She gave me a receipt for it which stated that she does not provide insurance for objects left, and set forth statements concerning excess storage time. 7/11 she mailed me an examination report, treatment proposal and cost estimate, business agreement, and an invoice for the preliminary work of examination, etc. 8/29 she notified me that the job was finished, and I picked it up and paid the balance. She does no framing, but provides detailed instructions to guide an archival framer.
Description of Work: The work was the conservation and preservation of a framed small drawing in iron-fall ink on plain weave cotton mounted to an inscribed paper giving the artist's name and the date 1830. Part of the conservator's report: "Surface dirt and accretions were removed as much as safely possible from both the back and front of the object, using a variety of fine-pored sponges, vinyl erasers, and scalpel tips." The report continues in similar detail for another seven paragraphs.
