BURTEL SECURITY

Burtel did a terrible job. I bought a new house in DC which had an existing security system. I hired Burtel to do a system check since the seller was obligated to bring all existing systems up to proper function at closing or pay the cost to do so. Burtel charged me $255 to check my system and told me that it was great, and fully upgradeable to web/phone operation without new equipment. After closing, when I called them to activate the system, the pulled a bait and switch. First they told me a needed a new motherboard even though they had checked that carefully during their inspection. Over the course of a week, they told me I needed over $1,000 of new equipment. Very reluctantly, I proceeded with their work. Then on their next visit to activate, they told me I needed another $1,000 of work. At that time I realized what a scam this was. I asked for all my money back, but they refused. Now I am having to deal with the credit card company to get my money back. Burtel was painful to deal with throughout. I feel very ripped off by their deceptive business practices and incompetent work, with the bait and switch approach. Horrible.
