Brite-Maids

I have a 900 sq. ft. house with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom (even though the deal allowed up to 2 bathrooms).  Based on this, and my past experiences, I'm thinking they will have plenty of time to clean and I even left a nice tip as incentive.  I had to go into the office that day and left my key in my mailbox.  Huge mistake.
I came home to find that they had done a completely inadequate job.  It was clear that they only cleaned the most obvious surfaces.  The outside of my microwave was not cleaned, they didn't vacuum under my coffee table, the dining room table was not cleaned (I lifted the runner and placemats and found dust), there was dust in the corners and behind picture frames on my entertainment center (they clearly didn't lift anything), cobwebs were left, and the mirrors and windows either had smudges on them, or weren't cleaned at all. 
I e-mailed the company 2 days later, because I had company in town and was busy.  They told me I was outside of their 24-hour complaint policy, and gave a bunch of excuses for why things weren't up to par...supposedly dust from cleaning the floors must have settled on the entertainment center (right?!).  They then offered me a free refrigerator cleaning with my next service.  I was clear that I would never be using their company again, and requested that my tip be returned...after which there was radio silence.
Save time, your money and a headache.  DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Before purchasing a voucher to use this service I looked at Angie's List and saw that they had an A average rating. I should have looked at Yelp and other rating services to see that many people have been displeased, as was I.
Two woman came on time, and we walked through the house as I pointed out various things. One woman gave the other woman directions in Spanish and then left. The cleaner started upstairs with bedrooms and baths. After my first visit to see how it was going, I knew that I would have to follow her closely through the house as she was not doing many of the things listed on their website as part of the service. I should have known when they arrived without any kind of sweeper or mop for the tile and hardwood floors armed only with an old vacuum cleaner. I provided supplies for the floors, counter tops, stainless steel, etc. or she would have used only dish washing detergent!
I had to tell her to do switch plates, baseboards, outsides of cabinets, and more. She had no step stool and did not use ours, so nothing above eye level was done.
I am used to having a meticulous job done with the house shining and smelling good. We do a good job of keeping the house clean so were looking for a monthly service for deep cleaning - a thorough job on the floors, baseboards, blinds, etc. This did not happen.
The other woman returned at a time she thought the cleaner should be done, but she wasn't. She pitched in to help finish the job but was even worse! I told her how the hardwood floors needed to be done; she left left the floor splotchy and streaked and I redid them as I did with several other things. She broke one of my mops and didn't offer to deduct the cost.
I didn't realize until they were gone that the cleaner must have used furniture polish of the stairs to the second floor because they were dangerously slippery and I had to go over them to prevent an accident.
I was very disappointed!

You have to be explicit with them to get them to do what you want but they do the job well. Just make sure that you get the prices up front.

I use Brite-Maids on a monthly basis for my housecleaning and they are always on time. They send reminders in the mail ahead of time with your next three appointments and have never missed one. They are flexible with my work schedule and are perfectly comfortable with my two black labs. They do a great job cleaning and get it done quickly. No complaints!

Over the years, the service has declined in quality and I finally reached a point where I no longer wanted service. The night before my scheduled cleaning I specifically stated on the phone to Silvia that the downstairs family room was not to be cleaned as I had 4 suitcases open across the floor being packed for a vacation. The only thing that was supposed to be cleaned on the lower level was the bathroom. When I went downstairs EVERYTHING had been rearranged and moved. My 4 suitcases were closed but not shut properly and stacked into a tower, of course when I moved them everything fell out. Things that were on one side of the room were moved and put in bins on the other side of the room. Stuff that was moved was slated to go to college with my niece was on one side of the room ended up in bins which were slated to go to Goodwill. I had to go through the Goodwill bins to remove several things that were added to the bins. Random things including clean clothes that were sitting next to a suitcase, electrical cords, and other things were placed in the dirty laundry hamper with the dirty clothes. I went looking for my brand new TSA approved travel bottles which were still bundled in a group of three were missing. So, I went to the outside trash and went through the bags they took out of the house. I found my new bottles, spare buttons from the new clothes I bought (I actually keep those buttons), and some other things the maids considered trash. When I call Silvia after I discovered what had happened downstairs she offered to come over that evening and help me rearrange things. I was done at that point and didn?t want anyone else in my house, I had very specifically said DON?T do anything downstairs in the family room. And her response was they were just trying to organize things for me. It was perfectly organized how I wanted it before they got there. Additionally, it makes me wonder what other things over the years did they feel were trash. The constant re-organizing of my office even when I asked that only the floor be done is the reason I stopped allowing them in my office. My desk is a mess but I know where the things are.
 
This is when things went from bad to worse. I informed Silvia that I would no longer need monthly service and that I would like my key back. In several email communications, she insisted that things could be worked out if I allowed her to come over and talk about it. She stated if I cancelled she would have to fire the ladies, and that I needed to soften my heart. This went on for a few emails until I stated I wanted my key back and no further communication was needed. After this email, one of the maids stopped by to apologize for one of the ladies throwing out the things. When asked about the key, she didn?t know about the key and the key has not been returned.
