Since I have been with this practice, as it is covered by my insurance plan, I have been with three different doctors. One left with no explanation. I called for an appointment and was told that she was no longer with the practice. The next doctor was retiring and only available four days out of the month - I guess one needs to plan to be sick. The third is in the process of retiring and is only available three days per week which makes it hard to schedule an appointment with him that is convenient to my work schedule.
The practice does seem to prioritize appointments over walk-ins but still makes patients wait quite a while. I don't know if they are overbooking or what is going on. The staff has been courteous and I have not had any billing or referral issues with them.
Since I did not hear from Dr Amin, I called his office, as he had told me to do. There was no answer. I tried an hour later. This time, a receptionist answered, took my message, then assured me Dr Amin would call me with the blood work results. No call. The following afternoon, I once again spoke with one of their receptionists, and she informed me that all the doctors were in training that day, and he would return my call the following day. It didn't happen. Now the week end sets in, and on Monday, I was finally feeling better, yet determined to learn what the blood work would tell me. I have learned to understand some of the lab numbers, and I keep all my lab results, such as why I wanted them. I also paid for this information.
On Monday, I reached a recorded telephone menu that gave me the option of speaking with the lab. Bingo! I'll go directly to them and ask them to mail the results. I would by-pass Dr Amin, who I deduced had nothing to say to me, based on his lack of responding to my messages. The lab technician said he would have to get authorization from Dr Amin before sending the results. After waiting 3 more days, I once again spoke with the lab technician, who basically told me the same thing as before.
With the passing of another week--and not hearing anything from the lab technician, Dr Amin, or any support staff at Beauregard Medical Center--I chalked this experience up to that of a learning experience. I will simply not return to this place ever again.
I did not hear anything back from them after that. I was going to let it drop since it was not worth my aggravation. The more I thought about it, the more it did not make sense. Looking through my records, I found records that I was in the doctor's office twice in 2008 before the visit of question and the doctor's office had my correct insurance information. (Unfortunately, I can not find the receipt from the visit in question.) So seems that the business office have had my correct insurance information. This May, I mailed a detailed letter to the business office and have not gotten a response. In June, I contacted the BBB. The BBB sent three notices in June/July. They did not receive any response.
I mailed the complaint to the doctors in July and finally heard back and finally got the issue resolved.
