The showroom has a very big selection--our only complaint is that you have to work with a specific salesperson, and the person we started working with wasn't there the second time we went in, so we had to do some stuff by phone/email. It all worked out and everything was pretty easy--they were able to take payment over the phone and scheduled the installation at our convenience.
We found these guys on Angie's List with decent reviews. After a few trials and errors with other carpet installers, some with great reviews, we wanted to try somewhere smaller and locally owned. The place has a new owner and the guy was super friendly and cool when we came in. Our nearly two year old daughter had a blast wandering around the place and it was no issue. It was a marked difference than the used car-salesmen-type approach we had received in other carpet places. (i.e. Really trying to sell you something and then being indifferent when you didn't want to spend the money. And often not very family friendly too). Arlandria helped us find the best carpet for our price and didn't try to upsell us but did make us aware of all the choices. Each person had a personal story of what carpets they had tried. The new owner has built plenty of homes and installed carpets and flooring in each so has a wealth of knowledge. And the guys who have worked there have been there for 20+ years so know their stuff. I was really happy we found the place.
The owner suggested we call Matt, their lead carpet guy, and he was in our area in MD that morning so made a pit-stop to measure up the basement. Turns out that the other guys we had measure it erred by over 35%. Meaning, they built in extra profits on top of the prices they were already quoting. Matt measured exactly and even drew up a sketch of the layout. That meant we had a lot more money in our budget to find decent padding as well as perhaps the higher end carpet we wanted.
I came back later that day to confirm and give a deposit. Matt walked me through the process, gave me an extra discount, and made sure I was happy with the carpet and padding. Additionally, I asked if they could lay down a plastic sheeting as a moisture barrier which I already purchased. No problem and no charge. They worked around our schedule - we had other guys installing some wood flooring.
The carpet was beautiful and perfect when we finally saw it on the weekend. Our daughter fell down a few times running around and got right back up. She is already having a great time. We got the carpet we wanted at a great price. Couldn't ask for better.
When I originally purchased the flooring I was told that it could not be glued down. The installer told me ,after it was already installed , that it could be glued down; that it was my choice. But I had never been given that choice.
Additionally they neglected to re-install the toilet after the first vinyl installation. They made a bid deal about the fact that it would be an additional $100 to do that task, then they neglected to do it. When confronted , rather than admitting their error, they blamed it on the original plumber. They did return eventually to complete that task.
The floor looks awful and not very durable. I am certain that neither the salesman or the installer would be satisfied with this level of work if it was in their own homes. I am truly disappointed because I chose Arlandria Floors based on their good reputation. God knows, I could have gotten a cheaper price .
