Gas Log Service, Fireplace Service
Stay away from All Gas Concepts and its owner Scott. After a regular fireplace maintenance, they said we needed to replace the pilot. After the botched pilot assembly and on a second brief use, the fireplace glass blew up. Not only the owner Scott took zero responsibility, he became rude, angry and demanded additional $650 to replace the glass. He eventually stopped communicating with us and never refunded us for the terrible job they did ($500). Now, we are faced with hundreds of dollars in repairs. Do not use them!

On-time, professional, efficient. Answered all my questions and cleaned up when finished. Did not try to sell unneeded services, told me to save my money.

Gas Log Service, Gas Leak Repair
Scott Winslow at first was very nice, and then he flipped out. He said he was coming on Wednesday and on Monday he cussed me out and said he couldn't make it. He said he was backed up and he has to go on vacation. He told me I would have to wait for him to come back and I would have to deal with. I called the pool company and told them to find me another gas company. Scott was extremely rude and unprofessional.

Gas Log Service, Fireplace Service
On Jan. 20, 2014, I had Scott from All Gas Concepts install a fireplace insert that I purchased from Acme Stove. At the time, he was the only installation service that they recommended. In short, they need to take him off of their installer list, and so should you. When he arrived, he said he couldn't do it because from my basement to second story was too far to vent. He called Acme and they said no problem. He called the manufacturer and they said no problem. I should have questioned his competence at this point. I had dealt with him before on the possibility of installing my propane tank, but thankfully elected to go with someone else competent - that should have been another clear signal that this guy is not competent. Anyway, he installed my insert and it worked for a few months, but then the pilot starting ghosting out. I relit it a few times and then shut it down when the warmer whether hit. In September 2014, I tried to get it going, but no luck. I called him 3 or 4 times over a two week period before getting a call back. By they time he called me back, I had it going. However, it starting ghosting again. I started calling him in October 2014 and it is now January 2015 and 8 calls later, I still haven't heard from him - I have called his business and his cell phone. In the meantime, I called Acme and got the name of an other installer who came out. They determined that he did three things wrong. He had rocks in the pan, he didn't put the logs in right and the venting didn't hold - he had just attached an extension on the base kit and it didn't hold. I had paid him over $1,000 for the install and it wasn't done properly. The other company cleaned everything up and properly installed the logs, but said that I should go back to him for the venting so that I am not charged twice for work that wasn't done right the first time. Problem with that is that Scott never calls me back. I have tried three times since the other company came. At this point, I have decided to go with the other company to fix his mess. They charged me $160 for the earlier service call and will likely be charging much more to fix the venting issue. After that, I plan to submit a copy of the bills to Scott at All Gas Concepts for reimbursement. If he doesn't pay me those costs, depending on the amount and how mad I remain about his completely incompetent work, I will pursue in small claims court. While nothing can be done to fix the horrible experience I have had with All Gas Concepts, I hope that my review can save others the mess I have had to go through with him. I highly recommend that you find anyone else to do the work. This company is unprofessional and incompetent

n if there were any questions or concerns.Scott and his team showed up by the scheduled time and went right to work. They has everything installed, checked-out, safety tested and running in 3-hours. Scoot reviewed the orating procedures, safety features, and initial burn-in considerations. They had put drop cloths down prior to starting work, cleaned up as they went along, and did a final cleaning of the entire work are before they departed. Scott reviewed the next steps to get the county inspectors schooled and left his contact information in case there were any follow-on questions or concerns.

Scott removed the damper flap but did not insulate at all, so wind was literally blowing into our basement causing it to by 55 degrees. The installer came back and spent five minutes throwing in standard household insulation rather than fire rated fireplace insulation. After no help from him, I had to purchase my own insulation and it still gets quite cold -- say 65 degrees in that room. He did not connect the electronics at all, so Acme Stove who partnered with All Gas actually had to send back a technician from another company to connect it because Scott hadn't plugged it in. The second technican to come out was surprised that Scott had not installed a shut-off valve in the gas line, which is something that he said is customary.

The labor charge was $350.00 which we felt was excessive but the work was done in a responsive professional manner.

The work to run the gas line required a long trench plus a long run under our existing deck to the fireplace. The trench was dug nicely, the line under the deck was sloppy and hanging down so that it could be seen from the walk-out basement and side yard. We had them correct this...it would have been just as simple to do it cleanly the first time, and Scott had a bad attitude about making it look better. After this was completed the inspection was scheduled and the work passed. All Gas Concepts (AGC) returned to fill in the trench and install the insert.
QUICK SUMMARY - There was a problem with the installation which was a safety issue and could have caused a serious accident.
The issue came with the inside installation, which Scott performed. We were pleased with the fireplace but noted a strong odor. Scott said it was the initial burn off of residue and would subside in a week or so. The work passed inspection, and we specifically asked he inspector about the smell which was still strong . He stated that "you will always smell a little propane with a gas fireplace."
Two months later it seemed the smell had gotten a lot worse, then one day when I turned on the fireplace there was a loud explosion inside the fireplace insert. The windows in the house actually rattled. We immediately turned off the unit and the main gas shut off, and placed calls to Scott's cell phone, the AGC office phone, and the retailer. I left a short message succinctly describing the problem on each, and asked for a return call as we were very worried about the explosion. We never received any call back. Long story short, after six messages were left over two weeks (none returned) and we finally spoke with the retailer who brushed us off with a bogus "explanation" for what happened, we called in another company to check the insert. This company said that the gas line coupling inside the fireplace was incorrectly installed - it was never tightened, and we had propane seeping into our home for 2 months...hence the smell. Thankfully we only had the small explosion inside the insert. After this was corrected, we have had NO smell and no issues, and we have used the fireplace daily for 3 months during spring and now fall.
BOTTOM LINE: This could have been a much larger problem, we were lucky. I would not use All Gas Concepts for anything, safety is an issue.

It went very well overall. Scott did what he said he would do very quickly and his work passed inspection without problem. We're very satisfied with the result.

When Scott came out and sized up the job, he was upfront about the things he would do and what we would have to have done separately (electrical work). Scott helped me with exactly what to look for and expect from the electrician, and then he took care of the gas related permitting requirements, picked up my new fireplace from the vendor, supplied all parts needed for the job, installed over 90' of new gas lines and fittings, performed the final hookups, and tested the systems. During the fireplace install, we discovered incorrect parts from the manufacturer, so Scott handled it with the fireplace vendor, and came back when the part was available. Do to all the steps (permitting, electrical, installation, product problems), the project required multiple visits but Scott was very easy to work with and worked during weekends to push the project along.

I did not expect them to be on time and I had gotten up just in time to meet them. They did the work in about a half a day and I got to see the work they preformed. The price was very reasonable and I am happy with the project.

We contacted Scott and he returned our call the same day. An estimate was scheduled the same week. Scott was able to start work the following week. We were very satisfied with the quality of his work and the price. We were very happy that the work was completed on time as promised.
