I like going there because it is more cost effective than going to the dealer. I can drop off my car there for work and take the metro to work and they will pick me up from the metro and I can pick up my car. The give me great customer service and it is an independent shop but the guy who owns it has all the equipment the sealer would have like aligning tires and putting codes into the computer. I have taken my car there for 3-4 time. I have been using them for about a year and a half. They were able to diagnose the problem.

All work was performed in a thorough and professional manner. They provided guidance as to what work was needed, and I felt as though I was being given accurate and objective information but never felt pushed to have repairs made that were not necessary. Scheduling and drop-off/pickup went very smoothly. They are my go-to garage for non-warranty BMW service.
A few months after the service that is described above, I contacted them about an inoperative tail light. I was prepared to bring it to them for repair, but they alerted me to a BMW technical service bulletin concerning these lights, and suggested I contact the dealer to see if they BMW would perform the repair at no charge. Although my car is no longer under warranty and BMW was not obliged to cover the repair, they did in fact replace both tail lights at no charge, and I can thank ABS for encouraging me to pursue this.

I found Grant and his shop after having a bad experience with another local shop. I took my BMW to Grant with a bunch of error codes and warning lights. Over a period of several days, he was able to pinpoint the problem: rodent damage to my transmission control wiring, which shorted out the transmission control computer. Grant recommended to me that I call my insurance company and he happily showed the insurance company the damage while my car was in their shop.
On another visit, I brought my car into the shop after being told I needed new brake pads and my rotors resurfaced in order to pass inspection. I highly doubted that. Took my car to Grant and he checked out the pads. Sure enough, they needed to be replaced. But my rotors: they were fine and and quot;practically brand new,and quot; according to Grant. By skipping the rotor work, Grant saved me several hundred dollars over the shop that I had originally taken my car to for a state inspection.
I like taking my BMW to Grant. He offers great advice and only does the work that is necessary to complete. He does not seem to overcharge or gouge you on labor. He seems to only bill for the labor actually performed. Additionally, the prices on parts are very competitive, often better than other service locations quote. And Grant only uses genuine BMW parts -- so it is nice to know that the correct part is being used on your car.
I will continue to take my BMW to Grant for service at Alexandria Bavarian Auto. His work is excellent.

I called for an estimate. the person on the phone was not the most polite, but he has a following and other great reviews. Recomend taking the time to go there for an estimete they don't like to give over phone. If you can deal with a little different aditude then they have been recommended by other BMW owners.

Took my car to the dealer for regular maintenance. They conveniently noticed an oil leak that by their own admission had been there for a long time. Of course, they noticed it just 1,000 mi. past my warranty. WHAT A COINCIDENCE. $3000. Took it to Alexandria Bavarian Service and not only did he fix the oil leak, he fixed another issue I was having with my car shaking out of first gear. All for just over $2K. More service for less money.
Grant was great and honest. He called me because he thought there was a big issue that was going to be pretty costly. He called me back after working it for a little bit to let me know it wasn't what he had initially thought. It was a much smaller issue, with a much smaller price tag. He also checked with BMW to ensure that none of the issues I was having were due to recall issues (which would then be fixed by the dealer, free of charge)
This place was recommended to me by another BMW owner, and they delivered.

After waiting 2 hours at the Mini dealership for a safety and emissions inspection on my 2004 BMW 325i - I was handed a $1,300 estimate of and quot;necessaryand quot; repairs to pass the inspection. Odd because I bought the car 2 weeks earlier out of state as a certified used BMW. Feeilng like I was getting scammed (rightly so) - I contacted Grant at ABS for an estimate.
Over the phone I explained the supposed necessary repairs and immediately he commented that he didn't even think those items should have been evluated during the inspection. So I asked him for a second opinion and an estimate for any real problems I need to fix. Dropped off my car two days later - waited for a few moments because he was dropping another customer off at the Metro (nice service!) and handed over the keys. A few hours later he called to say that the only thing wrong with my car was one missing clip ($18) that wouldn't prevent a passing inspection - he ordered it and its waiting for me to bring my car in for an oil change and they'll put it on. In fact ABS took my car for a safety and emissions inspection around the corner and only charged me for the fee they paid to the inspection site.
Grant has been extremely helpful and could have tried to scam me for unnecessary repairs just as easily as the dealership tried. But instead he and his team value regular, repeat customers for real reasons - not manufactured ones! Only working on BMWs and Minis, I know they know their stuff and I'm so happy I found a service provider that I feel I can trust.
Oh and everyone I've talked to one the phone has been curteous and helpful with a nice sense of humor.

This is a great place to frequent for owners of Mini or BMW vehicles. Grant is genuinely passionate about these cars, he is scrupulously honest, and he and his team do a terrific job. Rides to and from the Metro are also appreciated. Every time I got my car fixed it purred like a kitten. Grant is also brutally honest -- he told me to sell the car following an inspection that revealed future repairs, that, for my pocketbook, wouldn't be worth it, even though I'm sure it would have been great for his business to keep fixing my car at that point. At another earlier point, I explained that my electric windows were getting stuck, and he showed me a trick to loosen them, saving me $400+ in window motor repair. Mini is a great car to drive but you need to expect repairs a few years into ownership, and this is the place to go to have them taken care of.

I have used Alexandria Bavarian for maintenance on my Z3 since 2003. Grant runs a great business and provides exceptional service. I have had many things done to the car over the years from basic maintenance to water pump replacement, tires and brakes, hoses, etc. My car runs likes a dream. Grant really knows BMWs! I wouldn't take my car any place else for mechanical work.

Grant is a character, so get used to the kidding. It's often hard to tell when he goes from kidding to serious but I can put up with any personality as long as they take good and responsible care of my auto. Grant and his crew have done everything they said. He's very busy so quick turn around is not to be expected. He's our Go-To man for all our BMW needs.

I have been quite pleased with them and their work. They specialize in BMW auto service. They really understand the cars and are priced fairly. I had a problem with my car and several other BMW dealers and shops were unable to fix it until I took it to them. I have been going there since.

I was unhappy with the treatment I had been getting at the Mini of Sterling dealer when I found this garage in a web search. Grant doesn't advertise and, apparently, doesn't need to do so. If you have a BMW or Mini -- especially one out of warranty -- this is the place for you. Unparalled expertise and completely dedicated to the cars -- take a look at the restored cars in the garage. Not a big price break from the dealers but I finally felt as if I got the level of service for which I paid!

When she pulled up to the driveway they treated her very rudely. When she explained that she just wanted to speak to someone they were again very rude and told her to leave the driveway. This place has not customer service. No one should ever use this place, they are very poor at caring about new customers. It is clear that they do not want any new customers at all.

I have never had to bring my car back for work that was not completed properly the first time. They call when there are additional problems before they begin work. My car is almost 20 years old and it still runs well. Their pricing is better than that of a dealers.
