Project took almost 1.5 months - too long. Workers often did not work a full day and did not have respect for the property, especially leaving garbage around the worksite and leaving a messy worksite overall. It got somewhat better after a couple complaints. Light post laid on ground in mud for over a month even though front walkway digging was done first week. Quality of work in front was good, but not excellent. In particular, some sections of landing and walkway not graded properly - a dip in walkway and a low spot in landing area. However, contractor did recommend using paver stone to resurface original brick stoop and that was an excellent idea and looks great. In rear, patio not graded property and drainage not installed properly so water puddles on far side. One section of border wall not perpendicular. Stone laid in a pattern that looks OK, but original was excellent. Original sand layer was minimally excavated so last step from deck stairs onto to patio is too shallow. The owner is a very nice person, and knows his business and means well, we think, and was responsive when called, but in the end, did not oversee the workers to the extent needed to ensure a good to excellent review. I think this review would have been completely different if the owner did the work himself or spent much more time onsite. We selected this contractor based on the recommendation of some neighbors and inspection of those projects. While after the fact we did learn that some complained about how long projects took to complete, there were no other complaints. We suspect that the owner has had trouble keeping his crews, as was evidenced by asking for payments ahead of schedule, and the timing and quality of the work has suffered.
