The hard working stone masons were exacting and highly professional. Steve Waldron, president of the company, is a perfectionist, knowledgeable about construction techniques, and was always available for supervision and consultation. He had an excellent working relationship with my husband, the architect who designed the pool.
Steve has an impressive knowledge and passion for horticulture and spent an afternoon at Merrifield?s helping me select all the plantings.
We feel very lucky to have used Pristine Acres because the results are simply beautiful.
Over the spring and summer of 2012, I lost six English boxwood, a Korean boxwood and three 6'-7' crepe myrtles. After numerous emails, they came out and replaced the dead shrubs. They told me the plants died because I wasn't watering them enough, even though I have an irrigation system set by a professional irrigation company who serviced the system throughout the summer.
This spring, I have continued to lose plants including five more English boxwood, several skipjack laurals, a ginko tree, two 8' dogwood trees and two hollys. I contacted a horticulturalist who came out last week to assess my problem. It turns out that my shrubs have fungus, mites and aphids. Now, I live in a VERY rural setting in Fairfax County, with no houses or landscaping within 500'. and it's possible that the fungus, mites & aphids came from the existing flora, however, the horticulturalist strongly suspects that the offenders came from the original landscape plantings.
We are in the process of killing the fungus, mites and aphids and will use a different company for the many planting we will need for the fall.
In addition to the infestation problems, they planted three very large cedar trees in the pool area. No doubt they were going for a mature look. The only problem is that these trees are becoming monsters! They have grown considerably and are beginning to incorporate envelope the fence. We have inquired about having them moved, but have been told they will probably die.
Finally, for some reason, they decided to plant holly bushes that have pickers right in front of a hose bib! These will need to be moved. Every time I go to turn on the water, I am reminded of how irritated I am at the money I have wasted.
Above all, I am of the opinion that Adam's Pristine Acres is inexperienced.
We would definitely hire Steve and Jeff again.
