Communication was acceptable. I expected Tory to be doing the work, but he sent a crew to do the plaster and hired a subcontractor to do the painting. Painting was outstanding, plaster work was a little rough, and had droppings in various places around the areas that were repaired and cleaned up well.

What a nightmare. I put on an $80,000.00 home addition. I got several estimates for the sheetrock and decided on Tag Drywall. He wasnâ  t the cheapest nor the most expensive. I hired them because Tory Garrett talked a good game and I mistakenly believed him. Then the disaster began. The gaps between the drywall and outlets/switches/lights were huge. The sheetrock was installed but they missed some areas and the framing was still showing when they returned to plaster. When they plastered, they missed spots. They put in the last pieces of missing drywall the same day they came back to, ostensibly, sand the third coat of plaster. So the drywall they installed that day had one coat of plaster, at the most , and Tory demanded full payment that day. Tory said it was â  industry standardâ  that payment in full was expected after the third coat of plaster was sanded. Every switch box had groves and/or defects in the plaster. There were large areas with pockmarks, cracks were noticeable and there were some screw heads with no plaster at all. I didnâ  t want to pay in full with all these flaws still visible. I paid 80% of the price and said I would pay the remaining after the job was finished. One or two taciturn guys would show up, stay for 15 minutes to fix a few of the defects, ask for money and leave. I would call and say that there were still problems with the walls, and the cycle would repeat. There was one wall that only got attention on a couple of the trips they made. It looked so bad. There were ridges where the plaster was 3-D, pockmarks and wavy sheetrock. I couldnâ  t believe they were saying this was acceptable and the job was done. Finally, Tory came himself. He was argumentative and complained about my not giving him full payment. He told me that it was â  industry standardâ  that only flaws that could be seen from 6 feet away in natural light required mending. Although there were plenty of these, he was arguing that the gouges on the ceiling and the screw head divots were okay because from the floor, it was hard to pick them out. Tory told me that it was â  industry standardâ  that the painter (which is me) was responsible for sanding any touch up. So they did a subpar job on the plaster, and I was supposed to sand the areas they fixed?? When I put on primer, I kept a sanding block with me to sand all the places where the plaster that was still 3-D. As I rolled on the primer, some of the plaster came off on the roller, leaving crater in the remaining plaster. The primer showed even more defects. When Tory finally came back, he harangued me so much about the payment, that I went ahead and paid him the remainder of the fee. Previously, I installed and plastered the drywall in my garage, because it was a garage. I expected the professional do at least as good a job as me, with no experience or skill. My amateur job was far superior than the mess they left me with. After Tory said the job done, I got out my drywall tools and went through to fix the defects that Tag Drywall left behind. I shouldnâ  t have to go behind the professionals to fill in the groves and screw divots. I shouldnâ  t have to sand, to try and even out the waves in the drywall, and to fill in the pockmarks, but that is exactly what I find myself doing. I am so frustrated, disappointed, and angry that the most visible part of my beautiful addition (the walls) were so poorly done. When I put color over the primer, the flaws showed up even more. There isnâ  t a square meter in the entire job without a defect. So save yourself the headache and heart break and hire a professional, not Tag Drywall.
