Mr. McGann showed up about 11:30 AM, after a call about 9:00 AM. He spent about a half hour diagnosing the problem, left to get some parts and an assistant. By 12:30 he was working on my system. He replaced the submersible pump, its wiring, the pressure tank, and the attached plumbing connectors. The poly pipe (260') down the well hole was fine: I examined it myself. The wiring was shot: I examined that as well, and I'm an electrical engineer.  By about 2:30, we had water in the house again. He explained what he was doing as he went along, but never stopped working. It was amazing to watch: he seems to have plenty of experience on wells and pumps, and it showed.
That was it. Three hours or so after he arrived, the system was up and running.
The price was very reasonable. I cannot imagine that anyone else could have done this job faster or less expensively. Although I hope not to see him again for 10 years, of course, he will be the first call I make if anything goes wrong.
