Exceptional roofing

Alan put on a roof that seems to be fine. My problem is that his Team did not properly clean up from the initial tear off, and the old wood shingles as well as a LOT of old debris ended up in my gutters. I was not aware of this and in our latest rain storm the gutters overflowed causing a major overflow which ended up permeating our deck membrane below and causing water damage in our garage. I spoke to Alan about reviewing this job and perhaps meeting in the middle to cover the costs to replace the damaged areas. Although he agreed to meet, I could never actually get him to meet me, leaving many messages. He ended up blocking my phone # to keep from talking to me. Incredibly unprofessional.

We had a roof leak during its first Winter that damaged our drywall and hardwood floors I was informed the "warranty" was limited to roofing materials and labor to repair the roof only, not damage to the home. Alan Archuletta would not give me anything in writing other than a material warranty from the manufacturer, which is a trivial cost if the results of a leak are not also covered. He said, "Just call the office." A few months after he came to my house and welded the leak (and also created a membrane dam that created a new drainage issue into my window, which he thought was the original issue), he wrote, "This roof has no flaws that I'm aware of, and never has." Yet, he told me when he fixed the leak a few months prior, to call him in the Spring to re-weld areas because of "freeze and thaw" issues that are common with new roofs? I didn't realize a brand new roof should have issues but called him anyway and revisited the situation. He then called me names and said he wouldn't address my outstanding issues because I had disclosed to him that I had not paid the GC, Drew Menlove from Western Construction & Development, in full. The retention amount was less than 1% of the project cost and I've spent a multiple of the retention out of pocket to address many outstanding issues. I had not paid the GC in full because construction defects and quality oversights such as Alan's roof had not be addressed. This was, and is, the case with several other subs as well. Alan then used that as a reason to not honor my warranty even though the GC was on a fee only contract. The roof pools. He said it was almost two years old. It was less than 12 months old when I made the claim and is nowhere near 2 years old as of the data of this post. We tore down our old house just after Memorial Day weekend in 2018. I paid all of the subs in full. It's a racket. Make sure you understand where loyalties reside when undertaking a construction project. I rarely write reviews but the GC and subs on my project, including Exceptional Roofing, were not professional and/or honorable.

Working with Alan was great from start to finish. He even chose the right roof for us when we almost went with another color. We love how it looks and are very happy.

Alan performed the work and we needed new siding done as well. He recommended his brother which is a separate story of poor workmanship. We have leaks in two locations since Alan did the work. Damage to our bathroom ceiling because of it. He has come back and said nothing he did was wrong and the issue must be with our house. There were no problems with leaks on our old roof. Upon leaving he called my wife dishonest and said we never paid him. Stay away from him. He was recommend by the realtor who gave him a good review. Come to find out the realtor uses him to flip homes, so the actual work of his unknown.

Alan was right on time to give the bid, was friendly and gave advice about our roof. His bid seemed fair and we scheduled the work for the next week. We were warned that the company that made the old shingles is not in business so the color would be off. Alan said he would try to match it as best he could. On Monday his crew showed up and spent about an hour replacing shingles. They removed old shingles and mixed them with the new shingles to try to match the color. They got it exactly, I cannot tell where the patches are, it looks great. Great work and a good experience, thank you. 

As I mentioned above, I've used Alan's company many times.  He's always been very responsive.  We've even needed small repair jobs on short notice as conditions for closing a deal.  Alan has always tried to fit these in as well if there was any way to fit it into his schedule.  He's an amazingly cheerful and personable person.  He makes one feel at ease with his solution and has always been very honest and fair.  Dealing with Alan feels much like the stories of "the old days" from my parents and grandparents where his word and his work is consistent and dependable.  Alan has certainly become a friend over the years and I would highly recommend him in his expertise.  I hope for his team that they get more and more business, but that will mean I'll have to get more diligent about scheduling him early.  Great guy, great team!

Alan is the person I interacted with.  He is a great person to work with.  Very friendly and professional.  He was very patient in answering questions and listening to all my needs.  

I got quote from several roofers.  The quote I received from Alan had a lot of details and was also less when compared to other roofers.  I went through the reviews and Angieslist and felt very comfortable giving him the work. 

A crew came to the house on time and completed the work in two days.  That's fast!!!

There were few rotten plywood underneath the roof that he replaced without additional charge.  Alan also suggested to cover few wooden beams exposed to water in the patio area with aluminium sheets.  He did this work for free!!!

I am a very happy customer.  I would recommend Alan (Exceptional Roofing) to my friends or anyone who needs roof replacement.

The provider came out to talk to us about our roof, did a thorough inspection of the roof and what would be required, talked with the renters with regards to any concerns they might have as well as talking with our neighbor with regards to the necessary trim of a tree that was touching the garage roof.  He was able to answer all our concerns and questions and did the job in a very efficient way.  They went the extra mile in spraying black the ventilation pipes in the roof so that they didn't stand out.  The cleanup was exceptional including a metal detector to pick up any stray nails.  Allen and his crew were very professional.  

During house construction, our architect referred us to Exceptional Roofing company. We are pleased with the workmanship and professionalism Alan Archuletta had provided. He is very punctual, his price is reasonable, and he provides excellent customer service. The work was done on-time and on-budget, per the original quote he provided us. 
In late December 2014 several of our solar panels were blown by the strong wind. It caused damage to the roof and when we called Alan, he immediately sent someone to repair the roof. Exceptional roofing has again done an excellent service and we are happy to recommend Alan and his crew for anyone who needs commercial or residential roofing work.

Their price was basically the same as other companies, so the price was fair, if only the quality of the installation would have been good. We were given samples of the material that was supposed to be installed for a color check, and we thought, for the gauge that would be installed. But the material was a thinner gauge when it was installed--so thin it wrinkled. We made them reinstall the worst of the panels, but the job was poor quality.

After the second week of August 2014, which was exceptionally wet in Salt Lake City, we found a cracked ceiling in my kid's bedroom. Actually, dripping started in the third week of August, so the roofing repair was eminent. Called Alan (recommended by my realtor Brad Morris), and Alan pointed out immediately the problem of our house (lack of roof vents, and wrong placement if there is). Some roof board underneath shingles (which we estimate 35 years old) were bulging and cushy when I step on it. So, something under the shingle is terribly wrong. Alan's estimate was pretty good, and he's a very honest man, comfortable to work with, so I immediately decided to work with him. He gave us a cue to choose new shingles, and started working tearing down the old shingles. He also recommend to go and check the house he roofed recently, which has the same type of shingles we were considering. The house is Olympus cove, which is a good sign Alans company work many houses in the east bench side (that's a good indicator for us).

During the tearing work,  some roof boards were damaged pretty bad, and Alan discovered that was due to inappropriate nailing. Alan took care all of these, and further repaired other 'suspicious' places at the same time so that our house and garage will be 100% water proof in the next decades.

We took this as an opportunity to replace old insulation as well, and in addition, install ceiling fans for our bath rooms (master-3/4  and main -full). We didn't have bath room fans at all, and this has been our 'things to do list' since we bought this house 12 years ago. Alan's company took care all of these (included in the quote), and finish up everything in 3 days (started on Wed, finished re-roofing on Fri night). Throughout the work, workers were professional, very diligently working, and communicate with us very well, if any unexpected damage is found under the old shingles. Clean up work was also thorough (picked up garbage on Mon). They are really nice guys, and provided nice service. I can recommend Alan's company (Archuletta Inc, now listed as Exceptional Roofing) to anybody who consider roofing.
