Wow! Much better than I could have anticipated. Day one the crew came and tore off the existing shingles and prepped the roof for the shingles. There was a lot of work done at this stage and our home was waterproofed had it rained, which I appreciated. Prior to this, a dumpster was placed to the side of our home so as to not block the entrance to our garage. This was really nice of them but it made them have to walk further! Day two the shingles were delivered, and on day three the crew returned and the job was finished in hours. The GAF system that J & N uses is a superior system and it makes my shingling job of 24 years ago on our home pale by comparison. A competitor of J & N's gave me a bid about the same price but only after asking what other bids were. His is the most reviewed company on Angie's list. The bid Norm gave me and the final price would have been the same, but Norm installed ridgevents and removed the roof vents and patched the roof vent holes at my request and also because Norm felt the ridgeventing is better than roof vents. Clean up was very thorough all days. No flat tires or nails found. A couple of neighbors did their shingles at the same time and I have to say in my biased point of view that ours is by far the best looking roof of all. I found it easiest to text Norm to contact him and he was good about returning texts. I would use his company again but I expect this roof to last longer than me at my age of 63! Thanks guys!

It comes down to trust and Norm is trustworthy. Never did I feel he was trying to gouge me or add unnecessary extras to his quotes. I didn't mention it, but the first time he came and caulked the vents he didn't charge anything, which impressed both the wife and me.

Norm and his team did a great job.  The price was very attractive but just as important was their high quality work, reliability and attention to detail.  Norm was very present making sure that things were done properly although much of his team has been with him for a long time and didn't need a lot of oversight.  They were always on time and committed to getting the job done before we were leaving town.  Since there were some rainy days, they came on Saturdays to get the job done on time. I highly recommend J & N.

Had been recommended by my boss, and when I checked Angie's List they got good reviews. Between those things and the fact that their estimate was cheaper than I was expecting, I went with them without getting additional quotes.
I know my review will be the only one without straight A's so I do want to talk about what I liked about them. Communication was good. They seemed to be fair and honest. My roof isn't in the best shape, but they didn't try to sell me on a new roof. They told me I had about 5 years left in my roof, and that's exactly what I figured. I asked for a quote for rain gutters, and Norm immediately got out a tape measure and gave me an estimate for what I said was most important. And they made an effort to come patch the holes before a rain storm was set to come in.
However, the quality wasn't the greatest. They had told me in the quote that matching the green shingles wasn't possible, so they'd have to use white. Okay, neither patch will be very visible, and I only have to deal with it for 5 years before I get a new roof. But the patches are clearly lower than the rest of the roof. Probably not enough to pool water, but still, pretty noticeable. And secondly, I picked up over a dozen nails on the sidewalk near my driveway. My driveway is rock fill, so nails hide really well in there. I'll have to go over it with my magnetic nail sweep before I'm comfortable driving all the way up to my garage.
Those are my only quibbles. Other than that, they're probably great. Maybe patching isn't their thing; maybe they're really great at ripping and replacing roofs. But I don't think they'll be on my short list to call once I need a new roof.

The job was done as stated.  Their office always kept in touch to make sure I was taken care of.

They did a great job and did not try to tell me there were major problems with my roof, which I had feared.

They told me of possible problems I may wish to address in the future and gave me an estimate of how long the roof should last. They were excellent to work with and I am planning to have them do the repairs they suggested.

All went well. Norm was on-site often and got it done despite threatening weather. I would hire Norm again, no question, although I may never need another roof replaced on this house.

hi, angie's list some how figured out i used this company.they did a great job. we needed a new roof when we bought our house. i found the company to be honest (no hidden costs), a good value (had a decent range of options for my price point of house--$410,000), and prompt. roof removed and replaced within two days if i remember correctly. no problems with the roof and i remember the pricing was less than home depot at the time.a year later a racoon ate through one of my rubber covers around one of the aeration pipes and he came out to fix it within 48 hours ($100 but this was worth it since it would have taken me 4 hours to uplift the roof, put a new one down, retar, etc).as as whole, nice guy, prompt, felt safe to have my kids around the house w/ him around, felt safe to give him access to house w/o me there, liked that he answered his phone always even if late at night.i hope that helps.

I was referred to Norm Lance of J&N Roofing by a co-worker.  He has completed a number of roofing jobs for people that I work with.  He is reliable, fairly priced and stands behind his work.  We have had no issues with any of the work he has done!  I have referred him to a number of people and they have all been pleased.

First, this company was priced in the middle of 6 roofing bids. Job took two days as described. He had a crew of 4 working very hard. They brought in a dumspter where they dumped everything and hauled it away. They were also careful to time the job so that they didn't leave at night on day 1 until I was completely sheeted in and waterproof.
