From a horrid start to a surprising finish.

On Jan 02 of this New Year, my mother who is an amputee of her right leg fell ill and was unable to reach the door for the fire department. They understandably broke down her side door to gain access to her. She is thankfully alright now, but her door was a wreck.

I called around to a few places but most only repaired commercial doors. One company recommended a guy named Dale who was with Door Solutions. It was later that I was going through the Angie's List catalog that I saw a coupon for Door Solutions and thought ?great, he must be ok?. I called and spoke to Dale who came out and looked over the damage to her door. I explained to him what had happened and that my mother was on a tight, fixed income. He called shortly after with a quote that seemed very reasonable and stated he could do it within a week, and I agreed. Dale arrived on time and began the work of not only replacing her door but the frame as well. He started at 10AM and finished just before 6PM. As time went on I began to worry that I misunderstood his quote, thinking he meant the door itself was what he quoted and did not include labor. In fact I asked him a few times if I could help as I worried about the time on the job, but he politely declined. I worried I was going to be zapped with the final cost, but was actually stunned to hear he was going to stay to his quote. I gave him a little more than his quote because he not only did a great job, the new door is even better than the damaged one. But he cleaned everything up when finished.

Dale may be slower than others, but the finished job was outstanding and he is d*** well honest. Dale renewed my belief there are still people out there that will stand by what they say and leave the customer very happy!

We live in an old home, and dale noted several times that the project was taking longer because of the homes old exterior, etc. The doors were installed after close to 8 hours. I appreciate that he took his time to properly install the doors. The finish work did not meet my standards. Caulk was everywhere, and not smooth or finished. I believe he ran out of one caulk and used a different color/finish so you noticed a difference. The frame surrounding the door had paint removed and the seal at the door did not match the tile to make it look cohesive. This was all cosmetic, but required us to call a second person to touch up a custom paint wall, and while he was there, he volunteered to clean up the caulk, and paint the doors, trim, and walls that were ruined during installation.

Dale was able to fit me into his busy schedule and get the door installed prior to my deadline on short notice. He did an excellent job on this sort of unusual request. Dale is very skilled, experienced and professional.

Dale was very pleasant and put in a lot of time and effort to fix a broken front door latch.  I was amazed at how patient he was, and impressed by his reasonable fee.

Dale McElroy explained exactly what he would do. He was efficient, responsible, worked quietly, cleaned up after himself. HE DID A BETTER JOB THAN I HAD HOPED FOR.

Nice guy and he knows a lot about doors--that is all he does--just door. I really appreciated how well he communicated. He showed up when he said he would, which is something I can't say about the average contractor. He got two of my exterior doors to seal for the first time in 10 years. I'd recommend him.

I bought a door through Lowes and Dale at Door Solutions installed it. Dale was the best. He had to install the door into an old house which required creating many small one of a kind fittings. It took him seven hours to complete the job. It looks wonderful and is very solid. I wonder how many installers would care enough to build fittings so that the finished door not only looked wonderful but would last for many years. I could not be happier with the finished product. The installation cost was a very reasonable $250.

The doors were about $600 and he charged $200 each for installing them.  Dale was on time both days and was very professional.  He even did a great job talking with my tool-obsessed 3-year-old son.  The doors look and work great and we were very happy with his service.

Dale McElroy was responsive in picking up our initial call, accommodating in scheduling times for the initial visit to scope the job and likewise when it came to fixing the appointment about three weeks later for the final installation step after we purchased the doors, one of which was a custom order due to the narrow width of the patio entrance.  He was very down-to-earth in telling us the facts of what could be done given the shape of our doorways, implications of the door style options we could choose and what we could expect him to do.  We were impressed with Dale's attention to detail in how he completed the door installations and in particular his craftmanship in designing-executing the build-out stage.  He worked for about eight hours straight on the job and yet did not leave until he'd "tuned" the closing parameters of the doors, cleaned the storm door glass, and cleared the work site of debris/empty boxes.  We appreciated his staying true to the pre-job bid proposal and for providing us copies of the receipt for materials which he'd purchased specific for our door installation job.

Dale responded quickly to our initial phone call and came out the next day to look at our leaky exterior door and give us options for replacement. We decided to replace it with a new slider. Dale priced out some sliding glass doors for us and picked up at the store the door that we finally purchased. He removed the old door and installed the new one without any problems, despite snow and rain. He did a great job caulking it in, adding trim, and making sure that we would no longer have a water problem at the threshold (which was one of the problems with the previous door). His final price was the same as his initial estimate. We would definitely use him again.

We had a serious issue with a door which was cut too short during new construction. Water was leaking through the bottom of the door as the ice/snow melted from outside. We went over to a home improvement store and their solution involved taking the door apart and nailing an attachment to it with all sorts of extraneous purchases. We called Dale on a Sunday and he came over Monday evening. He quickly assessed the situation. He identified that the base was adjustable, got a screwdriver and raised the base. He's honest and charged a very fair price for quick and effective work. Only took about 20 minutes and saved us over $100.

He measured correctly (great because a custom made door is non-returnable). He worked a day and a half to install it; worked hard and the end result is very good. Reliable and affordable. What I did not like? Hardwood floor in entryway got scratched, deadbolt installed slightly crooked, and doorbell does not work as well as before.

Dale the installer was precise, knowledgeable and cooperative. He took whatever time necessary to do perfect job, and it was a perfect install. I can't praise him enough.

Dale schedules his work and meets his deadlines. You can buy new doors at hardware stores or he can. The quality of his work is very good, doors always close the way they are supposed to. We highly recommend Dale to others.
