DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! We had a small extension and a deck built by OTL. They had been contracted to follow plans we had drawn up by an architect. Not only did they not follow plans on the extension, they cut corners where ever they could. Our biggest point of contention is the deck they built on loose dirt and gravel left from excavation of site, (dirt which they had repeatedly said they would remove). Supports for deck should have had concrete footings placed in the ground at 30" depth. Instead, they placed concrete blocks on top of pile of 3 foot high pile loose soil and gravel. After building the deck and failing inspection for not following approved plans, OTL went to our architect to have them draw up a revision to support the incorrect build they had already done. A revision we were not told about, did not sign off on, or approve. The changes to the plan were initiated and acted upon by OTL behind our backs after they had failed to build the deck as per plans. If OTL had removed the excavation dirt, as promised, instead of building on it, this would not be an issue. Needless to say, the dirt has shifted and they deck is pulling away from the house. There is a 1 year warranty on their work. At first they said they would come is and add some additional supports, but any other work (, such as removing dirt and fixing supports which had shifted), we would be charged for. Now they are saying that since the architect approved changes and they passed inspection there is no need for them to correct anything. We have been trying for almost a year to get this issue corrected. Their latest response was to hire a lawyer and have him write us a letter stating we are not to contact them any further. The lawyer has also written that they would only place the supports if we signed a letter releasing them from all further liabilities. That is the sort of company this is. They would rather pay a lawyer than fix and/or pay for their mistakes. Our only alternative is to have another company rebuild deck (over $10,000), or hire a lawyer, pay out of pocket, and hope OTL pays up when judgement is against them. What horrible people!

The worst home remodel experience ever. We needed some work on our basement done after repairing some water damage. On The Level consists of a father and son working together with friends they find to work with them. They seemed nice at first and they did a good job on demolition but reframing, plumbing, setting a bathtub all went horribly wrong. At various points in the process I was told that it was not their responsibility to get building permits, read instructions for installation of a $1500 bathtub, ensure that framing was properly secured to the ceiling and floor (they forgot to secure a whole wall on one end and it gave way after I leaned against it briefly), or install a pocket door correctly. I should have told them to leave after the first problem. Since they left things in bad shape I was lucky to find a contractor who had years of experience framing and finishing homes. After he ripped out On The Level's work and replaced everything they ruined it looks great. All together I gave On The Level about $7000 for headaches, arguments, lies, ... and that was just to do rough plumbing, install a bathtub, and framing. Save your time and money find someone that will be honest and not try to cut corners or do the minimum. In case they have several companies under different names the father and son duo is Doug and Darin Rowe. Beware and look elsewhere!

Arrived on time for estimate. Very good at explaining everything to me in terms I could understand. After receiving other bids, we decided to go with Doug & Lori @ On the Level. We set up appointment. They were right on time. They went to work so fast I was amazed at what they got done in the short time they were here. They cleaned up everything as they worked, leaving things really nice. I am really impressed with there PROFESSIONALISM & HONESTY. I will be calling them again to do other work.

Their work was fine. They didn't get permits, and it turns out that they ordered $6000 worth of windows for my house which is in a historic district, and they wouldn't let them install them. They charged me for the windows and left. If I want my money back, I will have to sue them. They can get the permit that they are supposed to get or they can tell the client that they are not going to get the permit that is required. Their price is really cheap, but that is because they were apparently doing everything illegally.

Very professional and friendly throughout; knew exactly what to do, showed up right on time, did the work quickly and unobtrusively, let me know ahead of time what was going to be necessary (water supply, nearby parking) - all in all everything went just beautifully. Recommend highly.

They were great to fit us in in a very short period of time which was greatly appreciated. The cost seemed high for the size of the area that was being repaired but it was done quickly. We had a couple of finish work issues that they had to come back to fix but did so quickly and without complaint. Overall we were happy with the service.

Doug is very responsive and promptly answers calls. They are very reliable and professional. Prices are quite reasonable. With the sale of our home, they were able to promptly correct any items that came up on inspection. Their work is high quality. It is a small, family - run business, and they work together very well. I would have no hesitation to refer them to other customers.

Overall, it went great! They showed up on time, and finished the work quickly. Doug pointed out one tiny spot that dripped on my carpet (he had already blotted it), which I don't consider bad, since they had to carry it about 25 feet to get out the door.
It was the kind of service I've come to expect of Doug & Darin Rowe. They show up on time and do excellent work. They've remodeled some bathrooms for us, fixed a deck, a roof.... I recommend them to all my friends & they have worked for them, as well.
