Never gave report, Said he would. Simply wrote an email with many mistakes. Claimed the stucco was in good condition and didn’t need any repairs, but our building inspector came and saw several areas of water infiltration and delaminating. I don’t know what house he was looking at. Don’t hire this incompetent inspector to come out and give you erroneous information. If I could give 0 starts I would. Terrible communicator. Extremely slow responses and had to bug him to send us report.

Barry was really great! He got into every single space, did a great review, and made notes of everything that could go wrong, things to be aware of, things to service and at what interval, and things that needed immediate attention or care. I appreciate Barry so much!

There are horror stories about inspectors who miss things or are so uncomfortable in talking with people that you don't know what's good or bad about your new home. That is NOT the case with Barry! He is so good at what he does and he doesn't miss a thing! On our last home purchase, he caught several items that needed to be corrected and our sellers took money off the purchase price so we could have the issues corrected immediately upon move-in. We have absolute faith in him and getting a good report on this new home is the single most reassuring factor in the whole process!

I found Barry through angie's list as the 2nd highest rated inspector. The top inspector was booked, as were other ones that i called. Barry was the only one that was able to fit me in with my short due diligence deadline. He was nice over the phone and answered all of my questions.
I did have to call to confirm the appointment, even though he said he'd email me confirmation. A few days later i got a call by the receptionist saying the inspection was pushed back an hour, which was fine. Delays can happen, which is understandable.
The home inspection was great and i feel like he covered everything. He worked efficiently and answered all my questions.
There were a few minor errors on the report, like misspellings, wrong zip code for the house, etc. It wasn't anything major, just some things that a second person should look over to make it more professional.
I also feel like the meth test was a bit more expensive than other providers, but i did get a discount on the whole inspection so that's okay.
My suggestion for Barry would be to try to get a better web presence. Right now the only way to find him is through angie's list, or searching for his name or exact website address. Currently the "contact" button on his website is broken, and should be fixed or removed.
All in all i would hire Barry again.

In buying our first home in Salt Lake City, Barry Burkinshaw did a thorough and complete inspection of the property which we now call home. He was easy to contact, prompt in responding to phone calls and making an appointment within a week of contacting him.  He set up the radon test several days before the inspection and was able to determine an acceptable radon levels by the day of the inspection.  I flew in from out of town for the day of the inspection and Barry was on-time, even a little early, on the appointed day to meet at the property.  Barry thoroughly inspected the exterior and interior of the house, answered a multitude of questions, explaining how all the systems work, what needs to be upgraded/repaired and recommendations of how it can be done.  He is a very pleasant gentlemen to know.  Normally a home inspection takes 2-3 hours, however, he was so generous with his time and knowledge that he spent nearly 5 hours on the inspection and patiently answering all my questions throughout the day.  Afterwards, he gave his recommendations of whether or not further inspections were warranted, i.e., pests, mold, meth, etc., and further saved us the expense of unnecessary inspections.  
Within 48 hours, he provided us with a 56 page detailed report of the home inspection filled with his assessments, comments and many pictures of each system, each room, and repairs needed or recommended.  Barry is meticulous, knowledgeable, very professional and personable!  We were very happy and satisfied with his work and would highly recommend him!!!  We would definitely utilize his services again in the future.

Inspector was late due to heavy snows.  Inside and outside of home were thoroughly inspected.  The inspector was fine having me follow him around for the entire inspection.  He was great at pointing out problems, and possible future problems as we went along, and explain why they were, or could turn into problems. He also was good at providing ideas for fixes.  His report was returned quickly, and had a lot of pictures that helped remind me about the things we had talked about.  He also sent the report on radon results as soon as they came in.  I was glad that he was willing to answer questions I had about the radan results through email.

Barry was absolutely wonderful. I was buying a house while my husband was deployed and Barry was punctual, SO thorough and explained everything to me. He even helped me write the list to the sellers to ensure I used the correct verbiage. I appreciated his help so much. I would recommend Barry to any and everyone. His price was average and totally worth it. I even used to a second time when the first house didn't work out and I would use him again!
