ROYAL CONSTRUCTION & RESTORATION INC

I was attracted to this company because of their name (I know, not very smart). We wanted to remove our old, bent and discolored aluminum soffits, fascia and gutters, restore the original wood underneath, and then install new gutters. We discussed this at length with a representative of the company. We signed a contract for the removal of the old stuff and the installation of the new gutters, with the understanding we would discuss and bid the wood restoration when we could see what the wood was like after removing the old stuff. Alarm bells should have gone off when the guy called one morning saying "Hi, I am by your house and ready to install gutters" and I had to remind him of our conversation about restoring the wood before attaching new gutters. So, the guy starts ripping off the old aluminum and call five hours later telling me he is done. He looks at me like I have just gone nuts when I suggest that we talk again about restoring the wood, calls the manager who says he is not interested in restoring the wood, denying any responsibility for conversation I had had with his staff. I got him to just leave and waive the contract after paying six hundred dollars for five hours of unskilled labor, thus leaving us gutterless and without a contractor in October. To add insult to injury, on closer inspection, it became evident that the aluminum was just ripped off, leaving large staples still attached to our wood. Several attempts were made to convince the company to come remove the staples, but despite some promises nothing happened. They might do an adequate job on straight forward jobs, but I would trust them with anything slightly more involved, they are just not that interested, not entirely truthful in their representations. It would have been better, if they right from the start had said they were not interested in restoring old woodwork.
