My kitchen sink was clogged, due to old galvanized pipes that are 100 plus years old. Keith and Juan arrived withing 2 hours of me calling. They had the line cleaned and flowing for around $267.00. I was happy with their professionalism. They also explained what needed to be done and how I could upgrade in the future by replacing the old pipes if I ever wanted to. I always call Neerings for my plumbing and heating issues because they do a good job.

KEITH ARRIVED EARLIER THAN PROMISED AND WITHIN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES HAD THE PROBLEM RESOLVED PLUS IT WAS A PLEASURE HAVING HIM HELP ME. I WILL CERTAINLY CALL ON NEERING PLUMBING AGAIN AS NEEDED. THEY CAME WITH VERY SHORT NOTICE.

TL:DR - Neerings is overpriced and doesn't actually fix things. I hired Neerings to clean and prepare my Swamp Cooler to run for the summer. It is an older cooler that the previous homeowners didn't take good care of, and was in need of a *professional* cleaning, and likely a new coat of sealant. (A DIYer like me hires a pro for their time, tools, and know-how) The tech convinced me to purchase a service contract ($318) that included them getting it ready in spring and winterizing it in the fall. I told him great, but I still needed it cleaned, and possibly repaired. So, the tech got on the roof, couldn't pull one of the panels, gave up, pulled a different one, plugged the motor and pump in and had me test it. The motor worked (it's new, of course it did), the pump did not. Any easy fix, right? No. they don't fix things, I have to go buy the pump and get up on the roof and do that myself. Oh, and the pads need replacing. They don't do that either. (So wait... what is this spring service for?) But you will clean it out? Sure. So, he tells me he swept it out, and put it back together and wants me to pay $318. I refused, since he didn't perform the service indicated (the cooler is NOT functional, and he advised me to just buy a new one - for the same price I'd been quoted for installing A/C by other companies), but I said I'd pay for a service fee. They charged me $204. To sweep the cooler, remove the tarp, and plug in the motor, and walk away with it not functional. So I bit the bullet and paid. Oh, and that sweeping? I got up there today to fix the Swamp Cooler myself. He hadn't done it. There was leaves and dirt, and all sorts of things still inside the cooler. 3 minutes of sweeping it with a kitchen broom and it was ready to go. So really, I paid $204 (almost $318!) for the tech to .... plug in the motor, and remove the tarp.

My experience was similar to previous reviewers in that the price that was charged for a simple job was incredibly overinflated. $ 634.00 to replace a bathroom faucet and a water valve. And I supplied the faucet. I tried to negotiate the charge, was given a confusing breakdown of charges and told “they are making a very small profit”. They must be hiring surgeons to complete the work then.

Our AC went out on July 3. Not an ideal time to be without AC. We called Neerings and they came out and replaced the capacitor, and said it still needed a new motor. They quoted us $1200 to fix it all. Luckily he didn't have a new motor on him and needed to come back the next day. In the meantime, we starting calling around to get a competing bid and found someone that would do the same job, with the exact same parts for $550, less than half. Neerings still charged us for the service fee, which is fine, they did come out to our house. But even paying their fee and the job, we were less than half what they were going to charge us. I get having to cover more overhead, but I'm honstly not sure how they are even in business.

The work was done very well. I have used Neerings before many times and because of their work, I have asked them to complete a partial bathroom remodel which they are currently working on now. They again were prompt and have so far done a very good job.

I had Neerings come out and check the pressure regulator, they were on time. The regulator was bad and needed to be replaced. They plumber pulled out his book and said it will be $900 and I told him no. He immediately turned to another page in the book and said well I can do it for $633. I once again told him no and if those were the prices I would go get multiple quotes. He then said will i can do it for $415, This is still way overpriced as the unit is around $100 and it took an hour to replace. But the house is sold and replacing the regulator is part of the sale. So I paid $415. So they made some extra money from me but I will NEVER call them again. They have lost a customer for life.

Our main sewer line backed up on a Sunday. I called Neerings and requested an emergency tech and was told someone would call me that evening. Never received a call. Called again the next morning and was told someone would come out. About 5 minutes after I called, someone else called me back and wondered if I had ever received a call from a tech the night before. Really? Then when the tech did arrive and ran a camera through the line I was told first that there was a depression in the line and it would have to be replaced, then I was told no, no depression but a break and it would have to be replaced, then finally no, no actual break but lots of tree roots and it would have to be replaced. All the guy wanted was to replace the line to the tune of $12,000. He charged almost $700 just to run the camera through it. I called another company who cleared the roots, guaranteed the line for 4 months, and charged half what Neerings did just to look. This was just before Christmas and I know that all the Neerings guy wanted was a nice Christmas bonus. I would not use them again, would not recommend them and will dissuade everyone I know from using them.

First, the company lost our scheduled appointment, so they had to send someone out late. This person refused to put the camera down the pipe, and said that they would bet that it was a rotted pipe. They bid around $5,000 to destroy our kitchen, tear up our concrete, and replace the pipe. They bid $250 just to snake, and $600 to water jet! We had Drain Tech come out as a second opinion. They found a clog, snaked it, and fixed the problem. $155.

They were high on the price than the others.  The service was good.  It was a rental property so I really didn't have the chance so I needed to fix the problem right there and then.  One of the good things was there availability was good.  They showed up right.  They were the only ones that would commit to me early in the morning the next day.  It was an emergency issue but if I would have searched around and had other people come out to bid the work, I'm sure I could have saved a little bit amount of money.

They came over, looked at the 3-way switch, which appeared to be the problem, and without trouble shooting the whole system, wanted to charge $242 to change out a 3-way switch for a kitchen light. The problem turned to be the ballast, not the switch, so replacing the switch probably wouldn't have solved the problem anyway.

In the early part of December I called Neerings  for a furnace service  when they arrived they recommended replacing  the
furnace rather than spending $529.00 to clean blower assembly $582.00 to clean indoor coil, $322.00 to replace ignitor and clean
flame sensor. I oped for a new furnace at $5244.00. In retrospect this all seems hight . Work completed 12/7/12 after two
late shows.
4/25/2013 had Neerings check a/c (part of service agreement with furnace purchase ). They recommended replacing the A/C
or  at least replacing condensate overflow safety switch at $284.00.  Another company (Manwill)  said it didn't need to
be replaced.
I also asked for a bid on installing a blower in my fire place . Their bid $701.00, Dave's comfort system  charge $285.00
I did not get bids on A/C  but will do so next when I have Manwill check it out.

I am new to Angie's list to look for plumbing and contractors.  To begin I searched for repair companies I have used to see if the "grades" were similar to my experiences.  It was comforting to see others rated Neering with a D grade. I had a furnace that would not heat, the Neering repair person spent a couple of hours tuning the furnace and inspecting the plumbing (which I did not request).  The furnace repair was around $600 (all labor no parts) and the "other plumbing repairs" he could repair for $4000 to $5000 (no thanks).  After he left, the furnace would not heat, I called Neering and they sent out another repair person, the problem had nothing to do with tuning the furnace, a humidifer line was line was plugged. I had a second license plumber check the plumbing, he said the copper plumbing did NOT need to be replaced.

Neerings is a dishonest company! I would never slander a company unless I was positive about what I'm saying. I caught them red handed charging me for equipment and services I didnt need. One example: my water heater was not producing hot water, I called neerings and they said I would need to replace the entire system at a great cost. I got a second opinion from another company and it was an easy fix and under fifty dollars. I told them about neerings bid and  shook his head but was not surprised when he heard who the company was. they take advantage of customers frequently and have a huge list of unsatisfied customers. Sadly there are thousands of customers who are unknowingly duped by them.

I had a frozen water line inside the house coming from the main. Then pipe was completely accesable from the basement. Since this was and 'emergency" I called several plumbing companies for a repair. Neerings was the first to respond. They hooked up a machine to thaw the pipe in 3 minutes. The entire visit lasted 10 minutes they charged me $566 for 10 minutes. A follow up plumber came about an hour later. Once he heard for the gross overcharge he recommed that I complain to the state licensing agency since the ususal charge for an emergencey call in $150 for an hours worth of service.

I called several plumbers I found on Google.  It was a busy day, apparently, and some said they would call me back.  Neering's is the only one that actually gave me a time that they could come over.
The plumber got to my house, and was a nice enough guy.  He gave me several options, that included:
1. Trying to rebuild the knob, which would cost $390.  If he couldn't rebuild it, I could then put the cost of the rebuild toward option 3.
2. Simply putting a valve on the hot water hose, $290.  This would mean I could turn on the water main, but the bathtub wouldn't work.
3. Replace the entire knob valve.  $1800.
He started trying to rebuild, about 10 minutes later he said it couldn't be done, that the threading was stripped.  I opted for option 2, so that I could discuss option 3 with my roommate, who would be returning on Monday.
Later that day, one of the other plumbers I called showed up at my house instead of just calling me back.  I told him that if he could give me a better estimate than $1800, he had the job.
He came in, looked at the knob, told me it wasn't stripped (and that Neering had lied to me) and he could fix it for $89, which he did in about 10 minutes.
It blows my mind how dishonest Neering was.  If that other plumber hadn't showed up, I'd now be out over $2k and would have gone the weekend without a shower.

Neerings Heating and Plumbing also does electrical work. I called on Friday. Spoke with Wendy, who was very friendly and handled my phone call very quickly. I had five "major" issues on a home I am purchasing. I was informed when the technician was heading over to the house, as well as how long it should take him to get there.
Dave met me at the house and was very helpful and informative. He addressed my concerns based on our inspection report. Answered all my questions, provided me a written estimate with not only what the problem is but what the solution is to fix the problem. (VERY VERY HELPFUL WHEN DEALING WITH ESCROW FUNDING)
This appointment for service will be kept even if it means paying out of my own pocket. I will leave another review after service is completed. So far I am very pleased with my experience.

Neerings arrived on time and they are very polite. The expert was very patient and quickly went to work. I gave low marks on professionalism because in reading the amps of the combustion inducer, he held the meter close to the motor that seemed to increase the amps reading and then told me that's a sign of the inducer going bad. Could be his lack of experience. The expert from the other company that I went with explained that the ohm meter should be held further away from the motor to get an accurate amp reading. The noise alone of the inducer was a failure sign that he pointed out. Neerings looked up the price for the part that includes service and it was over $1242. Said they would clean and service the furnace too. Seemed high but I told him to order the part. Checked around and found parts for under $300. Next day, I called a couple of service companies that I found on Angie's List. One had the parts in stock and was ready to come that afternoon (Tue, 12/16/2009). They came, their diagnosis matched Neerings but their bill was only $429 - a difference of $813. I called Neerings and spoke with their service manager. I explained that their quote was too high and offered to pay $700 instead of over $1200. Without hesitation, he said no. I said to cancel the service and not to order the part if they already had. He said something about charging me for their visit and diagnosis - around $85. Sounds fair to me. Then he said he would also bill me for overnighting the parts but didn't have the price, which doesn't sound fair or reasonable to me. He mentioned that shipping for parts on another deal was around $700. I felt that he was frustrated with me and was trying to intimidate or scare me. I offered a couple of times to send a check for $100 to close the deal. He would not commit and said he would have to find out what the shipping cost for the parts were and call me back. He said he would call me back that day with details. I never heard from him.
