I'm giving this company an F in quality because the diagnosis of the issue with my washer was done improperly causing me to spend money and time on parts that were not needed. The tech told me that I would need a control panel board without putting the board through diagnostics. They told me that they could not get the part from their suppliers or Maytag because its no longer being made and I would need to buy a new washer. When the Tech left. I made one phone call and was able to find the part and pick it up. When I asked the technician how much he would charge to replace it I was told $197.00. When I asked the man at the parts store how difficult it would be to replace he gave me some advice to do it myself. I replaced the plug and play part myself in about 15 minutes and saved the $197.00 that Mr. Appliance was going to charge me for such a simple task. Turns out the new board did not resolve my issue. I put the original board back in and ended up using a different Appliance repair company to diagnose and do the job right and save me the additional expense of buying a new washer (thanks Dans appliance repair). It ended up that the pump needed to be turned on through service mode to drain the water from the drum because my son had overloaded the washer and it couldn't complete the cycle it was in. IT's working just fine now.
I am out the cost of a $225 part because I could not return it once the package was opened.
Mr. Appliance did refund me the price of the service call after I called and complained to the service manager but would not split the cost of the new control board with me even though they told me that was the problem and it was not.
Had the technician run proper diagnostics the problem would have been resolved with the service call. The Tech that came out was polite and clean but just not familiar with this type of washer.
We have used Mr Appliance before and found them to be helpful.
When the technician arrived he just turned on the Self cleaning and it worked fine. He said that I can't turn on the self clean on the small oven and the large oven at the same time. I asked why no one would just spend 20 seconds and help me trouble shoot this over the phone. He said that they don't do that. I was shocked when he now requested another $85 service fee since the woman on the phone said they'd likely not charge me. The worst part is that he said and quot;I am not allowed to leave your home until you pay me.and quot; And is stood there with his arms folded and body language that he would not leave my kitchen or my home. This made me very uncomfortable and truthfully somewhat frightened as I was home alone with my young child and a strange man who I could not get to leave my home. I then called Mr. Appliance and spoke with the owner Sarah. I stated that it was not consistent that I was told I wouldn't have to pay and I was now being threatened by the technician. She said, and quot;Sorry, I have no way of figuring out who told you that.and quot; and basically confirmed that the technician would not physically leave until he was paid. I ended up giving her my credit card number, but truthfully wish I had the wherewithall to just call the police to have this man leave my home.
It is difficult to have unknown people into your home and difficult to schedule these things when my husband is home, since he works during the day. However, I will certainly be wary of having anyone come into my home without my husband or another adult home with me. This was extremely uncomfortable and horribly unproffessional.
Admittedly the serviceman was knowledgable about the Viking stove and identified the problem immediately, however the store policy of being near physically threatening is absolutely intolerable to me.
