I met with the owner initially and thought she was very nice, down to earth. However, we ran into problems listing and showing the property: i) we were told the house would be relisted on Craigslist every week, but realized it was actually relisted after two weeks. that meant the house was less visible to potential renters. ii) for one showing, we spent hours cleaning up, only to learn the showing had been canceled and no one had bothered to tell us. we found out only after I called to ask what was going on; iii) twice we were given only a couple of hours notice (or less) to show the house, meaning we had to drop everything, rush home from work to tidy up the house. a little more warning would have been good. iv) during one showing, one of the owners was present to see how it was conducted, and realized the showing was not professional. the agent behaved like a potential renter and was not familiar with the house at all v) when we asked to work with a different agent (because of the problems listed above), the company abruptly canceled the contract. This experience was especially awkward because the agents are the children of the owner - so it was uncomfortable to say anything critical to the owner. All in all, a very unprofessional and awkward experience.

"We only managed this home for a few weeks. We posted the home every week just as we said we would. I don't know why she says that we didn't, but just because she couldn't find it online doesn't mean that it wasn't there. This home was especially dirty and cluttered, and we told her several times that it would have to be cleaned up before it would rent. We found several interested people that wanted to see it, but they all commented on how dirty it was and no one wanted to apply. We called her one day to let her know we had another potential tenant that wanted to see the home the next afternoon. She said that she would finally have someone come in an clean it in the morning to make it show better. Apparently she took the morning off as well to finally try and make the place presentable. The appointment ended up calling and canceling, so she was upset that she had missed work and gone to the trouble of cleaning up. Frankly, the home needed it anyway, and if she would have done it sooner it wouldn't have been so much trouble. She did nothing but complain and was not an easy person to work with. She had never rented her house out and had unreasonable expectations. We always treated her professionally and did everything she asked, but I guess some people aren't happy no matter how much you do. Because she seemed displeased with our services, we offered to just cancel the management agreement and go our separate ways, which she agreed to do. We spent many hours trying to advertise and market her house, but it couldn't rent because of her inaction. We didn't charge her a single dime, so I don't know why she would complain about service that she never even had to pay for. We manage several hundred properties and we work with hundreds of property owners that are very happy with our services. We are, hands down, the best property management company in Salt Lake City.
